I'm so pleased to have found Bella Materna! If you are thinking the address sounds like a hike out of Seattle proper and you'll just go to Nordstrom to save trouble - join me in reconsidering. It's a quick and easy trip off 99 with very easy parking. Best part - Anne and all the women who work there know the bras, construction and details inside and out. Tell them your bra woes (pregnancy/nursing related or not) and they'll bring out the bras to make them better. Do call or email to make and appointment - Anne is super fast via email and this way you'll have her full attention when you arrive. In this pregnancy I've gone from a 34C/D to 34-36F. I felt ridiculous and with a physical job I was spending lots of time readjusting and feeling lumpy-frumpy. After an hour of Anne's help I no longer look miserable and saggy with the extra weight. I ended up with three different pieces and I've been wearing/washing them now for over a month - entirely worth the investment. I have to say, I feel like a new woman. Hallelujah! I had ripped out the underwire from my old bras and was wearing those plus a shelf bra cami for some pretty pathetic support. It's bad enough to be a sleep-deprived new mom, but living in ill-fitting bras adds insult to injury. Having bras that fit and flatter have more than a physical impact! Am I right, ladies?!? After reading Blair C's review, I came straight here. My size is...well...larger than most, and I struck out at several shops even before delivering, so I was not looking forward to finding something that would fit once my size had settled in. This was a really great personal experience and after trying on about 10 different bras, I found 2 that fit really well. I even snagged a couple of supportive camis, which have been really great for sleeping. I was even more excited that the camis and one of the bras was on sale. Regular prices are slightly higher than Nordstrom's, but I see it as worthwhile for the personal service and the handmade local product. My only wish is that the non-underwire bra options had fit. The wires are great for support, but sometimes, I'd like the fit without the side constraint. Maybe some of the styles they're developing will suit that need in the future! read more

Supportive, comfortable and attractive bras for bigger cup sizes are hard to come by normally, but trying to find nursing bras is even more elusive. I'd bought a few already, but the fit and comfort was mediocre at best. I discovered the Bella Materna brand at a local maternity store and loved the one bra in stock. So incredibly comfortable, well made and supportive. I was thrilled to find out it's a local company. I made an appointment for a fitting and took one of my friends with me. The little shop is gorgeous and they have an incredible line of bras. I found a nursing bra that's as good, if not better than some of my regular bras. Thank goodness for Bella Materna! I am 14 weeks pregnant, and have very much outgrown my bras. I was a 34 DDD pre-pregnancy, and finding a bra that was supportive, came in my size, comfortable,a and could grow with me throughout the pregnancy and into nursing was proving impossible. Enter Bella Materna. I scheduled an appointment with Anne 1 day before leaving the Seattle area, and she was so helpful in helping me identify a bra that fit now, and would be able to grow with me, hopefully throughout my pregnancy. When I went into the store, I thought I would just purchase 1 bra to trial. I left with 3, and should have left with more! Because I live across the country, Anne helped me identify a bra that would work now, and ask I grow- which she said is her goal for all clients, and I appreciate that! The bras have extra hook-and-eye closure (far beyond what I have seen in other nursing bras) to accommodate continuing changes, and has the ability to convert from a nursing bra to a regular bra. Anne also told me I could always call and have another consultation over the phone if I need further help. Great customer service and quality. Highly recommended! read more

I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and outgrowing my standard bras. I was struggling to find somewhere to go or what the best route was in getting more knowing that it's possible I would still keep growing. I'm a member of West Seattle Moms on Facebook and they recommended Bella Materna. I did not realize that they are mostly by appointment but fortunately, someone was free to help me. Janet was working today and she was sharing so much information with me! She was kind, considerate, and appropriate considering this is my first pregnancy. I left with two bras! She sized me and apparently, I was growing much faster than expected. They had bras in my size (measuring at 40G) and these bras are ready to convert to nursing bras and back when things like that occur! I had a great experience at Bella Materna with Annie today. Having grown out of all of my bras at 25 weeks pregnant, I was wearing a flimsy mess of a thing from Target. Annie fitted me and showed me several options that I can wear now and grow into throughout pregnancy and as a nursing mom. I bought her signature cami and am thrilled because the orthopedic belt I have to wear is unappealing under my clothes. The cami not only gives good boob support but I have a nice smoother without being uncomfortable like spanx. I can't wait to try it when I'm breastfeeding and pumping. I also bought a really beautiful bra and immediately noticed a difference with the strong support. I announced, "Yeah! I'm not a sloppy jalopy anymore." This store is great for full figured ladies. While I was pregnant and needed new bras - and fast! - I didn't even know what size I was anymore. The owner helped me get a size that I could wear thru my pregnancy and those first few weeks postpartum. After my size settled down, I went back for some excellent nursing bras. VERY disappointed I was given a gift card to Bella Materna after my third child was born. After carefully going through the website, I decided to go with a nursing camisole. I was aware that shipping could take 6-8 weeks and began patiently waiting. After the 4th MONTH when I still had not received my order, I began emailing and calling the owner, Ann. After several attempts, I was able to reach her and was told that my order would be sent out within days. She informed me that the delay was due to the fact that they had changed locations. After two weeks went by, I began calling and texting. Again, after several attempts, spread out between days, I finally got a response and was told that my order was shipped. However, two days after that, I got a picture of the camisole and text from Ann saying that my camisole was not perfect and her partner would be in to re-sew the top and it would be shipped the following day. Four days later, I received my order. Upon inspecting my $76 top, I noticed that there was bunching in the fabric on one of the cups. It is very obviously an imperfection in the sewing so I texted Ann with no response. The following day I left a message with no response. The following week, I left another message. No response. I have yet to hear a word. I waited five months for an inferior product and no resolution, as it is impossible to get the owner to return my calls. I come from a background of a family owned business, as does my husband, so I am well aware that things happen. I have been completely ignored as the customer and now am left with a very expensive camisole that is not wearable. I have never in my life left a negative review of a business however, this has become an extraordinarily frustrating situation. read more

I came here after a negative experience at Village Maternity trying to get a nursing bra. Annie was friendly, professional, and helpful. I tried on a few items, and decided to get a nursing tank with built-in bra as well as a night-time nursing top. Both are incredibly comfortable while still feeling supportive. Bonus points because I even feel sexy in them! I also appreciated that, rather than trying to sell me as many items as possible, Annie helped me think through which items I would need, and even encouraged me to wait on one of the pieces for a month or two to see how they feel. I liked the no-pressure approach. The only reason this isn't five stars is because I had some difficulty getting an appointment. I had stopped by originally without an appointment, since the website as well as the store's page on Google Maps said the store was open 10-5. The store was closed, so I called to make an appointment, and never heard back from Annie. That's when I went to Village Maternity, had a negative experience, and a month later decided to give Bella Materna one more shot (since they had been highly recommended by a friend), so I called again and texted. This time I heard back from Annie the next day and scheduled the appointment. Despite the difficulty getting in, though, I will definitely be back for more. read more

The owner and designer Anne is incredibly friendly, knowledgable and full of great advice for women shopping for bras at any stage. She provided a fitting for me and helped explain the different options available. This level of personalized customer service is hard to come by at larger retailers and I highly recommend checking out her business if you're in need of a new bra. This was the first place I ever had a bra fitting, and it was a life-changing experience. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but it was amazing to receive such kind personal attention and to find high-quality bras that look and feel great. I loved this place. I went in after striking out at Nordstroms. I am well-endowed and was having a hard time finding a nursing bra that supported me and made me look great. Pretty, well-fitting nursing bras are not just a myth thanks to this local company. I purchased 2 Bella Materna bras at the Lytle Center at Swedish near the end of my pregnancy. They were comfortable and washed well. As I dropped the pregnancy weight and was ready to get a few well-fitting bras, I did not hesitate to call Bella Materna for a fitting. The experience was wonderful - personalized service, expert fitting, gorgeous and supportive bras that are comfortable and functional, and reasonably priced when compared to bras at other vendors. I highly, highly recommend this beautiful boutique! After giving birth to a baby girl six weeks ago, I was in serious need of several great maternity bras. I had bought numerous maternity bras (eight in total) from Nordstrom, online, and Target, and none fit well. After seeing Bella Materna's advertisement at my midwife's office, I decided to call and make an appointment for a fitting. I am so glad I did! Janet helped me and she was very friendly, informative, and made me feel right at home. I had been wearing an incorrect size for the last several months, and after measuring me, I discovered I was a 34F, which they had numerous bras in stock in my size. I ended up buying the Sexy t-shirt bra, the Plunge Racerback, and the Anytime Nursing bra. I have been wearing all three bras for the last three to four weeks and love the fit and comfort of all three. My only regret is I did not buy two of the Anytime Nursing Bras, as I would love one in nude and black because it is so comfortable. I was initially worried about the underwire in the Sexy T-shirt bra but the wire fits perfectly and gives me the extra support I need. My only complaint with any of the bras is I was hoping to wear my racerback shirts and dresses with the Plunge Racerback bra but there is a bit too much material in the top part of the cups of the bra, that show when I wear those shirts/dresses. But it is a minor inconvenience. All in all, I had a great shopping experience, love their bras, and plan to return in the future! read more

About 2-3 months after my son was born I was desperate for some good nursing bras after mainly wearing nursing tanks. I had been ordering bras from Nordstrom and sending them back with no luck. I stopped by one day without an appointment and was welcomed in. I was fitted, tried on 4 different bras and some clothing, and nursed a cranky baby. I left with 3 bras and a really cute nursing tank. I was expecting prices to be high but they are super reasonable and maybe even cheaper than I've paid at Nordstrom. With my first child I bought all of my nursing bras from Motherhood but the Bella Materna bras are so much nicer and of higher quality. I've been rotating my 3 bras for about 2 months now and they are still holding up and are super comfy. I will definitely be going back or ordering from the website in the future. read more

I am very happy with my recent purchase at Bella Materna. I have tried on a number of nursing bras and they have all either been very uncomfortable or did not offer any support. After a lot of searching I was very happy to find Bella Materna as the bras I purchased have been very comfortable and fit me very well. I wish I would have found them earlier in my pregnancy. I had a great experience! Anne was really personable and helpful. I was looking for good underwire nursing bras as I head back to work after a 7 month leave. I have a fairly small rib cage for my cup size ( 36 I) and find that it can be tough to find good supportive bras nursing or otherwise. I made an online appointment for a fitting for the next day. It was nice to have a range of sizes to try to find the right fit. I left with 2 bras and a nursing tank. The price was reasonable and inline with what I normally spend for quality bras. I'm excited to have quality, supportive nursing bras and have the option to take them back and have them converted to non-nursing bras or the band adjusted if my size or needs change. I had a really good experience bra shopping here in my second trimester of my first pregnancy. The product is really attractive; the bras actually look like things you'd want to wear on a normal basis. The customer service is also really great, with leisurely time and tailored attention to help you find the right thing (I made an appointment beforehand). The staff show you various options but aren't pushy, and are good at explaining how everything works for first-time moms. The prices are also really reasonable for the quality: I've paid 30% more for normal bras at Nordstrom that weren't as nice. read more

The storefront is lovely and the decor matched with the warm and genuine customer service outshines any retail establishment I've visited as of late. I showed up here without an appointment and the owner welcomed me in anyway, showered me with a selection of quality merchandise and spent over an hour with me finding the perfect fit and combination of comfort and style. Then on top of the unbeatable attention, the bras themselves are hands down the best on the market. I had already been to multiple maternity stores and bought several bras only to have them deteriorate after only a few weeks, stretch or tear in all the wrong places, or become very uncomfortable after only a few wears...on top of that the stores refused to own up to their product and take them back or help size me correctly. So far, Bella Materna's bras are comfortable, beautiful, and long lasting and the best part is, if that changes in the future, the company stands behind and guarantees everything they make. They're locally sewn in small batches in Seattle with non-toxic materials and frankly they're not much more in cost than the uncomfortable and small selection of bras offered by Nordstrom.
