I come here often for brunch and desserts. The breakfast food is decent and I'm a fan of the desserts. Usually the service is decent when the adult looking woman who looks like the manager is there. The service this Sunday morning was pretty awful. The servers were very inattentive and I'm almost sure that they intentionally ignored me (I tip 18%-25% so I know its not that). I made eye contact and nodded at both servers several times but they pretended not to notice and did not approach me when I was clearly done eating. The place was at most 1/3 full with 2 servers so not that busy. One of them was even perched behind the counter just zoning out. I actually ended up walking up to the server to get my bill. When I complained she told me that I should wave my arms next time I need them. So I guess its not considered rude here to wave your arms at the servers and its the only way to get service when they can't be bothered. read more

This cafe was my late night go-to for desserts pre-COVID, however last night I did not have such a good experience. I am displeased with the service and the cafes lack of adherence to the new COVID in-door dining rules. The occupancy was at 75%, which is not allowed in NYC. The attendee did take our temperatures when we arrived and sat us upstairs away from the large crowd on the first level. The waitress was nice but you can tell was completely being overworked as she mixed up our dinner order. We were waiting 20 minutes for dessert, when the waitress asked if we already had dessert. When we said no we are still waiting she realized she never put in our dessert order. Her assistant asked if we wanted our water pitcher refilled to which we said yes. I watched her refill the pitcher but walk it over to a different table of guests first sitting down (our used pitcher). The staff was CONSTANTLY pulling their masks down and drinking out in the dining area. Guests were going to the restroom and walking around the dining area WITHOUT their masks on. I overheard it was a busy night because two waitresses called in sick, I can only imagine why. I'm very displeased especially in these times. read more

I give this place an extra star because the renovations came out so nice and its so pretty from the outside to the inside, from the nice seating booth areas and walls to the outside having the nice water fall. Is a very pretty place. But the service SUCKS! Unfortunately the only good person was the hostess who just sat us down but the waiter was no good. He was good in the beginning but he barely knew the menu or what was on it and when asked about the "fish of the day" there was no fish ?! Like why advertise that in the menu and not have any. Also he did not know the difference from fettucini pasta to angel hair pasta, like really?! Also when asked about if they serve grape leaves they told us thats Mediterranean food, isn't Greek food just that! I just didn't get it. The menu is not big at all its more of a place for pastries and coffee and ice drinks. We ordered some drinks that took forever to come and let me tell you they were freaking strong! I understand some people like them that way but for a decent drink like a daiquiri i don't think you should be smelling the drink right away and have a strong taste! Also serving a mojito in a margarita glass, thats pretty weird and its like the leaves constantly were getting stuck at the end of the straw. Our waiter was missing most of the night which was not cool at all especially since we wanna order more drinks and make your business some money too. The shrimp on the barbie was okay a small dish and not worth the price and the shrimp wasn't even grilled looked more steamed to me, the asparagus was mushy and over burnt. The shrimp fettucini was good but not enough shrimp of course in it and the spinach fettucini had too much sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms then the actual pasta itself. The food just sucked. I would just come back to this place for coffee and dessert and thats all, the customer service and waiter service needs a serious renovations and they should know the knowledge of the menu and what your place serves. I think this place looks great! It reminds me of a lounge, the way it's decorated and lit. I love the ambiance, especially the outdoor section with the wall of candles and cute water fountain. Unfortunately, the decor is their best asset. The menu is huge and has too many options. Their prices are higher than local diners, but they offer the same items and of worse quality. If they stuck to a smaller menu but made sure that everything tasted great, I would be wiling to return. Our waitress only came to take our order, and was never seen again. Someone else delivered our food, and he also did not return. Water glasses were never refilled and a third girl brought us the bill after we went inside to ask for it. Will we come back? Omonia is one of the best dessert places. I always feel like I'm in a European setting when I'm here. The desserts are amazing. I don't think there's one terrible thing made there. They also have a food menu. Drinks, I enjoy their frappes. Generally, their staff is nice. Of the countless times I've been coming here I've probably had one not so good experience with a waitress. The first time I went, I loved it. Sadly, I never recreated the experience. Lately, I've found the service slow and apathetic. The pastries look better in the case (and they do look amazing!) than they taste. The exception here is the coffee. Espresso/capuccino/ice coffee - all good. Another downside (for non-smokers) is that the adorable outdoor seating area is always full of people puffing away. Such a shame. On the other hand, if you like smoke, it's a great place to spend a long, lazy afternoon over a plate of sweets and a great coffee. read more

This place is a cross between a cute and fashionable cafe and a tasty diner, so no wonder it is one of the most popular places on this stretch of 3rd ave! The first thing you notice going in is that they have a counter of some of the most beautiful pastries you've ever seen. There's a wide variety to choose from, from fruit tarts to chocolate mouse cakes. They are as tasty as they look, too. Those cakes are my pick-me up and celebration treats. After you pass the glass counter of yumminess, you are fully in the dining room. Here's where the place really looks like a cute cafe. With brown earth tones, booth, and flowers on the tables, this is a perfect date spot, or sit and read spot. It's a modern design, feeling classy and relaxed at the same time. They have a pretty chandelier in the entry area, which might help with the classy part. And the foam treatment they have on the walls may be connected to a heater, so the wall actually keeps you warm. That helps with the relaxing. Finally, the actual food is pretty good, too. Last time I was there I had the calamari, cheesy fries and a avocado burger. The cheesy fries could have done with a tiny bit more cheese, but they were still good. The calamari was actually pretty good, too. I have had better, but it's an inexpensive neighborhood diner, what more do you want? The burger was really quite good, so I was happy. The food is moderately-okay. I got some mozzarella sticks, a cup of jello, and some cakes. Out of the food I ordered, only shared Red Velvet cake taste much better than the rest. The cup of jello I've got seem to be messed up a bit, it's like they stirred and broke the flat surface. Ah well, it's okay, I guess. The staff/workers were a bit friendly and good-paced. My boyfriend and I just went there tonight for dinner. They forgot to give us the menu and waiting for 10 mins finally I reminded them that we were still sitting there with water only. We order 2 burgers, simple right but no. We waited for another 35 mins. And asked the waitress to check on our order. Another table near us that was there at the same time had the same experience. The place was not crowded, only a few tables. The waitress was clueless and check the 2 tables' orders and told us another 5 mins. So 45 mins later with only water on the table we walked out. They have many people working at that place yet they are so laid back, they don't care about there customers. We went there a few times because we like the food and price but this is it, no more! The women they have working as servers are pretending to be runway models and act as if it is a hassle to serve you. They never check in to see how things are/if you need anything. I can count on one hand how many meals I've thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. My meal at Omonia Cafe was one. I started off with a spinach pie as appetizer and it was delicious. For my main meal, I shared a BLT and chicken avocado crepe with my girlfriend. When it was time for dessert we were full and satisfied but took some pastries to go. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First let me tell you, I came here one day with family and the food was good i had a grilled chicken Caesar salad with pita bread. Food service took a little longer then expected. However when I came a second time I ordered the same exact thing a grilled chicken Caesar salad . As I began to eat I felt something hard in my mouth that I couldn't chew . There was pieces of HARD SHARP PLASTIC in my mouth. Did I mention how sharp it was . Not sure the name of the waiter but he did not even apologize and instead brought out another plate . There was a couple of sharp plastic throughout the salad that was almost hard to see unless you actually put it in your mouth !!!!!! I wasn't thinking I could've sued !!!!!!!!! When I'm back in Brooklyn, Omonia allows me to keep the tradition of getting charming boxes of excellent, fresh baked cookies, cannoli, strawberry tarts, and the like. Their coffee is excellent also, and thier back patio (with its modern waterfall) makes for an excellent place for a casual, latenight snuggle with dates, friends, and family. Their service isn't always the most attentive, and sometimes the regulars can behave as though they have an entitlement, and those points keep me from giving this place four Yelpy stars. But still, it's elegance and delicious treats easily supercede those shortcomings. read more

There was a life DJ playing up to date music. The place is very cozy and beautiful interior. Can't wait to come here in the summer to dine outside. Gave it a 4 star because the service wasn't to great. There was only one waitress on the whole floor and almost all the tables were taken. We were waiting for a long time to get our food (that didn't have to be cooked it was just dessert) and iced frappes. But I would definitely recommend this place. I really just wanted dessert but my boyfriend wanted dinner so we ordered food food first. I wanted to save room so I just got a salad, he ordered the Steak with Salsa Verde. No pita, no bread while we waited over 45 minutes. Our dear-in-headlights waitress who looked completely terrified the whole night never once stopped by to say that our food would be out shortly or anything like that. We called her over and asked her where our food was, then it magically came out. On the menu, my salad didn't have olives but of course my salad came with olives. His steak was tough and absolutely disgusting, there was cheese in the flavorless salsa verde.. it came with delicious potatoes though. We both wanted dessert so we left half of our food on our plates to save room. A guy (manager?) came by and asked if we were done with it and asked why, I said because we want to save room for dessert, he shrugged and said okay and threw a dirty napkin that was on the table onto my boyfriend's plate. "No.. we want to take this home, we just want to order dessert". He takes the plates away.. no dessert menu. We wait for our inattentive waitress to resurface and ask her for the menu. She takes our order soon after. 15-20 minutes later my boyfriend's milkshake arrived, my crepe took about 45 minutes though. No apologies, no nothing. It was delicious but damn. I figured I may never come back here again so I might as well order the most appealing dessert. Now I never have to wonder how baklava and cheesecake taste together. It was delightful. The baklava was juicy and full of flavor. The cheesecake was creamy, but typical, nothing special. However, it all worked. At the end I did get a sugar rush that just felt odd, I'm not use to eating so much sweet, the serving is pretty big for one person. I'm use to sharing dessert. read more
