One of my new years resolutions/fun goals for myself was to take go out to eat sushi more. I was so happy I came here! The food was excellent and I was determined to have a feast! There were so many options to choose from, but I was not disappointed with the rolls I got. Everything came out so fast, I was very impressed. Even with to-go orders and other people coming in for lunch. Though, I love using chopsticks, I thought it was nice that regular silverware is also available and handy for those unfamiliar or inexperienced with doing so. I tried On a Roll Sushi in downtown Tampa as it seemed like a popular spot for takeout. I ordered a teriyaki chicken bento box to go which came with a side of steamed vegetables, rice, ginger salad, miso soup, 1 egg roll, and a 4 piece California roll. Honestly, a lot of food for just $15, including tax. It wasn't the best bento box I've ever had, but the portion size was very large for the price. This place is a little hidden spot. It's quiet but newly renovated so it looks amazing. It's a unique Thai place but worth checking out as it is pretty fairly priced and located close to many of the river walk hotels. Two things to be aware of: check their online menu before you go in or go in and grab a menu and sit and review it before standing up to order. The menu is massive and has a bunch of different things to try. I did not try the sushi burrito this time but very well may go back before my trip ends to try it tomorrow. Second: they do not have any fountain drinks. It's all bottles or their brewed drinks. You can't miss by doing their green Thai tea. It was FANTASTIC. The sushi was good and fresh but the soup was probably my favorite menu item. I love it. While it seems that would be an easy thing to make, there was something absolutely different about their lemongrass. It stood out in this dish but in a good way. I don't think I left so much as a drop in my bowl. The service is amazing. The staff delivered everything as it was made. The attendant at the register gave me several pointers (and knew the menu very well considering they just redid it) and was extremely courteous. read more

I ordered 2 veggie rolls and a Thai tea. They put in the order as egg rolls then realized the mistake and charged again. When I mentioned the overcharge they tried to explain that was just the cost..which doesn't match the menu prices. When my roll came out it was a very large portion and tasted good. The Thai tea with boba was delicious. About 1/4 of the way through my rolls I noticed a piece of fish on my veggie roll, I pushed that one to the side as I am a vegetarian and went to eat another. Which I then spotted another piece of fish on it. That drew the line, I lost my appetite and stopped eating. The worker offered me another roll and said "oh you know things happen on the cutting board." I denied another roll and he still brought me one. Which I did not eat because I will not risk eating fish in a veggie roll due to cross contamination. read more

Was looking for some sushi for lunch while in town for work. On a Roll was within walking distance, so I put in an online order and headed over! It's located in a sort of office building-plaza, but was easy to find on foot. The staff were very kind and worked quickly to get my order completed when they realized that there had been a glitch and my order hadn't printed. I got the Rocking Roll and Downtown Roll - both were excellent. Clearly fresh ingredients and freshly made, amazing savory flavors. The Downtown Roll was my favorite, though. Served warm, with salmon, avocado, cream cheese.. amazing! Oh, and there's a really cute area just outside the restaurant where you can take your food and eat, if you want to enjoy a beautiful day! This hidden gem in Tampa was a good find. Located on the lower floor f a parking garage, makes finding it a little troublesome. But worth the hunt. I had the Rockin Roll - which was basically a large California roll with added shrimp tempura inside with sweet eel sauce. Yummy!!!! Large roll meaning it was estimate 3-3.5" diameter roll with ten pieces. Next I had the spicy tuna roll, nice balance of tasting the fresh ahi as well as their spicy. Nicely done and again ten piece roll. Also had the fried pork gyoza, which came out screaming hot and tasty. Got to say, for a hard to find joint it was so worth it. Overall 4/5 I got a poke bowl with tempura shrimp and fish. I personally really liked the tempura shrimp and fish. The sauce was a little heavy because the rice soaked up all the sauce. The seaweed salad was good! I thought they gave us very few options for toppings. I only get 2 vegetables and some sesame seeds on rice. Other poke places gives you a couple more toppings than that. The place is a little small but clean. The employees were nice! Maybe I'll try something else next time read more

Overall this is 3.5 stars, but Yelp hasn't offered that option. I'll start with the most important part: the food is EXCELLENT. 5 of 5 stars. They use fresh product and make it right when you order. I have had the rainbow roll and three of a kind poke bowl. Both are delicious, although the prices are high for the amount of food you get. The roll was $13 and I was left needing more. Think Yelp should move this restaurant to "$$". One of the positives is they have SOOOOO many things on the menu there is something for everyone, even those who don't like sushi. Service: Order at the register, pay and sit down. For some they brought the food to their table. For some reason mine was called out. The order also took a really long time because there were two people making plates and a large table of about ten people had previously ordered. Part way through the meal it was noticed there were only 2 of 3 meats in the bowl. I had to go to the register to let them know and they brought out a plate of tuna. They also don't check on anyone during the meal (which is to be expected from a place where you order at the register). I'd give service a 2 of 5. This would be a good alternative before attending an event at Amalie Arena when the nearby Hattricks is packed. Just be cognizant of how many people are waiting for their food and don't order if you are on a hurry. I am rounding to a four star rating and will zero in better after my next visit. read more

I came here during my vacation/trip when it was pouring rain. I didn't plan to come in, but the rain wouldn't stop so I stopped by in to grab some food. I ordered the poke bowl, three of a kind. It was tasty and fresh! I like the sriracha mayo sauce that came with it! The presentation of the poke bowl was also very lovely. Unfortunately the food and presentation was underwhelming. This was probably the worst sushi I have had. It was room temperature and tasted old and dry. I got the sexy roll and there was nothing sexy about it. I put a ton of soy sauce on it to be able to eat it which made it worse because it just tasted like salt.
