Recently visited Haiku for a friend's Birthday Dinner and had some items I loved and some that I did not care for. To start the crab cake was amazing. Didn't need all the micro greens for garnish on top but this could be overlooked because taste and flavor was amazing. The tuna tartare was super tasty as well and I would definitely order this again same comment for micro greens on this dish - didn't need this and found myself moving it off the dishes to actually enjoy the item. The two not so favorite dishes for me were the fried rice topped with fried chicken. While chicken was very tasty the rice was extremely basic. Could have used eggs or other ingredients to elevate this dish. Also the Volcano roll was extremely disappointing. Normally the volcano topping is cooked or (torched) and this topping was cold and very unappetizing. Would not recommend this roll. Overall this place is a hit or miss. Service for our large party wasn't bad and everything came out pretty quickly! read more

Terrible from start to finish. Waited 25 minutes at hostess stand without anyone coming to help. Ended up seating myself and waiting another 15 minutes for a waitress to help. Food is terrible - they even forgot the egg as a part of my ramen and brought me a frozen egg when I mentioned the missing item which was disgusting. Octopus is so tough and chewy. Terribly cooked from frozen. Mango sticky rice is absolutely horrendous. Nothing like what you expect. Temperature is terrible - they don't use A/C so it's incredibly hot and humid in restaurant. Sushi and biscuits? This is possible if you come to Haiku during Sunday Brunch. Also it's a Drag brunch on the 2nd Sunday of every month. I went with savory items such as the Chicken and Biscuits and Tuna Roll. The chicken were like little pieces of tenders along with a nice flaky biscuit. Gravy was great but not enough! Tuna roll was delish. Haiku offers gluten free items which was a plus for our someone in our party. Variety of cocktails and mocktails to choose from. If you are coming for the Drag Brunch I suggest you get there before 1230 so you have plenty of time to order since it's hard for them to serve in the middle of show. Haiku is such an amazing experience! The aesthetic of the restaurant is so cute, an amazing ambiance. One unique thing I really enjoy is that they had a projection of an animated chef making food. This was a phenomenal experience all around! Immediately the staff was so friendly, wishing me a happy birthday and even offering a free glass of champagne. The inside is so adorable and has such a great ambiance but we really enjoyed our table outside! We started with the shrimp tempura which was absolutely perfect - no notes. I then had the volcano roll which was the best sushi I've ever tasted. It was so fresh and flavorful, each bite was an absolute dream. I didn't want it to end! My friend ordered the shrimp fried rice which was also fantastic. Finally we had the Yuzu & White Chocolate Doughnuts and WOWWWWW!!!! Completing mind blowing. Our server even lit a candle in it for my birthday! These donuts were so fresh, crisp, and chewy, served with an epic, creamy vanilla ice cream. I loved our visit at Haiku! We visited for a dinner / bachelorette celebration and they treated us so well. They even provided us complementary Sake. It was easy to put all on 1 bill / pay the check too. Viviana was our waitress and she provided amazing service, she was prompt & helpful. Additionally, her positive attitude made our experience so enjoyable! Loved the sushi, we got different rolls. Went on the Friday night (rainy) and had to sit outside. Which is fine it was a last minuet reservation but they need to invest in better coverage outside since it's raining constantly in the summer. Food was okay, just didn't live up to the hype. The pork dumplings were tasty, good sauce and paired will with what was on the plate. Beef kabob was overcooked, chimichurri was good just not enough for $17 way over priced... Eel roll was delish, and chicken ramen bowl was disgusting. Had such a strange flavor to it and the meat was in burnt chunks. It kinda felt like they took kabob chicken meat and tossed it in the ramen. As for the decor inside, we didn't sit inside but if I'm being honest it kinda looked like a 13 year old's bedroom from Ross. They just took that random items that there's only 1 left of and put it together. Pretty overhyped on social media in my opinion. We didn't order drinks so I can't speak to that. We came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The place is nicely decorated on the inside. We ordered two appetizers to try: Pork Bao buns and Miso Japanese Eggplant. The pork Bao bun was good, it could've had more flavor. We really enjoyed the eggplant appetizer. It had a delicious dipping sauce and was perfectly fried. For our entrees we tried the 'Pork Belly Fried Rice' and the 'Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen'. The entrees were good. For drinks, I tried their lychee martini it was ok. Haiku had good service, our waitress was attentive and professional. They do have someone come take your photo and then try to get you to buy it, which I thought was interesting. I really wanted to love Haiku but I was not really impressed. 5/5 for ambiance! Modern, chic, beautiful decor! Felt like a dining experience in Miami or NYC. I did not have reservations so I expected to wait to dine on a Friday night and boy did I wait... I told myself that sometimes the wait is worth it. Once seated, I was enamored by the energy and couldn't wait to try the menu. 5/5 for the drinks! I love a good spicy cocktail and they did it well! Now the food overall was average in my opinion... 3/5. It may have been the night but I tried multiple items on the menu. Of the 8 items, the best were the spicy chicken kimchi fried rice and the Wagyu short rib. The octopus was also good. The Wagyu beef ramen was extremely salty and everything else was average. Usually any place downtown Tampa seems overrated to me and I didn't have any expectations for Haiku, especially when I saw their menu but I'll admit where I am wrong and this time, I was dead wrong. Haiku was a hit! Parking was a bit of a pain since there's no parking in front of the restaurant but we found some around the corner and made the walk. The outside seating is very nice and has an open bar. We didn't know but they close from 3-5pm to get ready for dinner but accept their last reservation at 2:30pm but they accommodated us very well with no complaints or rush to get us out. The aesthetics of this place is insane! Every photo is a great photo opp! Food was amazing and so was service! Server even recommended a great drink for me! Bao buns: 4/5! Delish, tasted like pho in a bun! Poke bowl: 4/5, good! Chicken bites: 2/5, it didn't taste too good. Flour or ratio of everything was off. Waffle bites: 5/5!!!! So delish! Chocolate ball: 4/5! Green tea icecream went so well with it. Something to note is that their brunch menu is so much different from their dinner menu so make plans for that if you want to try something specific. Haiku is fun vibes and great food! Made a reservation with a small group on a Friday evening. We sat out on the back patio but walked inside to take a look around because the inside aesthetic is so COOOOOOL. I had brought in some donuts to give my friends after dinner and I was instantly instructed that if we chose to eat them there, we'd be charged a $10 per person cake fee! We obviously did not eat them there. We all shared some edamame, pot stickers and sliders. A couple of us split the pork belly fried rice and the short rib. I went to Haiku for the first time with my colleagues while visiting Tampa this past weekend. We enjoyed a nice dinner on the patio and luckily there was a breeze so it wasn't too hot. The amazing floral covered interior is what this place is really known for, so be sure to request an indoor table if you want to enjoy the ambiance. I ordered their Spicy Twisted Buddha Margarita (made with Casamigos tequila & sake) which was tasty. We started with the wagyu sliders which were amazing and melted in your mouth. We also got the edamame & steamed pork gyoza (5) to share. They give you a generous portion of edamame, but it was a bit dry for me. For my main dish, I went with one of their signature sushi rolls, the torched hamachi roll, which was made with yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, lobster, serrano, and tobiko. It was spicy just the way I like it and everything tasted very fresh. Usually one roll doesn't quite do it for me, but I was surprisingly stuffed. My friends ordered the wagyu short ribs and pork belly fried rice which looked soooo good! The short rib fell right off the bone (as is should). The service was outside was fine though I would definitely opt for the inside next time. Parking in this area can also be pretty tricky during peak times. We drove around trying to find street parking for awhile with no luck and ended up parking in a nearby lot for $25...eeeek. Hello everyone, warning do not spend your money here. Me and my family came for a family members birthday, horrible experience and we paid so much money. All of our food came out at different times, and the timing was so bad. I didn't get my meal until everyone was already done eating, the waitress had forgotten one of the guest meal at the table. It was just horrible. They had already added gratuity also for a party of 5 with no warning. Food wasn't even all that. Just horrible. Me and my family will not be coming back.... Was pretty underwhelming honestly. Came with a couple friends on a Saturday night and thankfully we had a reservation because it was pretty busy. We were sat down promptly, but the tables are very close to each other so it feels a bit claustrophobic. The service was horrible. We were waiting for our server to show up for so long that we had to ask one of the other workers to go get them. Once we finally ordered, the food took almost an hour. Also they managed to get my order wrong twice?? The first time I got a salmon roll instead of the ahi tuna roll I ordered. My server apologized and said he would put the right order into the kitchen but when I finally got my food it was wrong AGAIN?? I got another variation of a salmon roll instead, at this point I was really hungry so I gave up. When the bill came I could see that they canceled my ahi tuna roll for some reason and added this one on instead.. I wonder if they were out of ahi tuna. I would think if you can't make what I order you ask me what I want instead, not just replace it with random food. The roll I ended up with was kinda bad, it had pickles on it which put me off. Weird combo. I did try some of my friend fried chicken rice which was actually really good, so maybe this place just can't make sushi. read more

The food was great, the service was excellent and the atmosphere and decor is great! I don't know how their service is during peak time, but lunch was a pleasure. This place is delicious and Instagram trendy. This is definitely the place you can dress up and not feel out of place. There's tons of Instagram worthy backdrops all over this place. We came before watching a comedy show and it was a great place to grab a bite. I was really impressed with their happy hour menu, we tried almost everything. This is what we got and what I thought: Edamame with truffle salt - delicious, you could really smell the truffle. Tempura Shrimp - this was very good too. You get four pieces. Red Miso Shishito Peppers - I didn't like this and usually I love shishito peppers. I felt it was lacking seasoning. I'd skip it next time. Daily House Sushi Roll - it was a fully vegetarian roll other than crab and when she explained it, it didn't sound appetizing. I was wrong. I loved it. They definitely know how to get creative with rolls. There wasn't too much rice, which I like. Lychee Martini - I thought this was going to be sweet, but it was more tart and I felt the pineapple was a bit overwhelming. I'd skip it and try something off of their normal menu. Then from the normal menu a Volcano Roll, which was good, but when it's not off of their HH menu it's definitely pricey. Expect to pay higher prices for these rolls. Overall this place is enjoyable, but I can also see how people may feel it is overrated. It caters to the trendy crowd and has food that is good, but pricey. With other fun looking places in this area I'd branch out before coming back, but this is a place I can see myself returning to. read more

Average and overpriced....and actually truly let down. Hubs decided to take me out for a brunch date. He made reservations for noon. We arrived and parked in the lot across the street. Parking is free until 2pm Sundays. Arrived at the restaurant around 11:40 and the door was locked despite the hours online stating they open at 11:30am. I asked the staff member that was setting up on the patio to which she replied they were closed until noon. We opted to stand and wait for them to open. Apparently they unlocked the door but didn't bother to let us know even though they saw us standing there. We knew once we saw another party go to the door and it opened. Head to the hostess who was the lady we spoke to that was setting up on the patio when we originally arrived. She sat us out on the patio and gave us the menus. Waitress arrived and took drink orders immediately. Service was great. Our server kept checking on us and kept the water refilled. We ordered the pork bao buns as an appetizer along with the passion fruit sangria and bonsai lemonade. The lemonade was good. I didn't care for the sangria. Definitely lacked flavor. For entrees we got the chicken yakitori scramble and the Japanese omelette. My scramble was just odd. First off the description lists scrambled eggs and I had none! This was just chicken and potatoes with way too much gravy! It was literally like soup! The chicken was chewy and grossed me out actually to the point that I couldn't eat it. The Japanese omelette was odd as well. It was sooo large and was just an large omelette egg over top of fried rice. Hubs enjoyed it and it did taste so much better than my dish however still was not what we had imagined. This is definitely not on my list to try again. Me and my wife were searching for a date spot and we landed on Haiku. First of all, the inside was beautiful. Plenty of photo worthy spots. In general Haiku exceeded expectations. We started at the bar, I had a few of their house Old Fashions, and my wife had two 545 margaritas and one espresso martini. The drinks were great. For food we had the Tuna & Salmon Tartare for starters and it blew us away. The tuna especially is a cut above the rest. For entrees we had the Waygu Short Rib, and the Shrimp Udon Noodles. When I tell you the Waygu Short Rib was one of the best entrees I've EVER had, I mean it. It was out of this world delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone.
