Went to sell my gold jewelries and the guy that helped me was very nice, friendly and accommodating. He was also giving me options to either just loan it or keep it because the value of gold gets increased as the time goes by. But I still decided to sell them since I really need money and the pay was not that bad. I went to other buy and sell gold and they're giving me lower price. I've done business with Once a pawn time on many occasions mainly for online FFL transfers for the past few years and I absolutely love and highly recommend using this FFL. I wasn't really looking to pawn anything, but was just fascinated by the creative and unique name for a pawnshop: "Once A Pawn A Time". And I wasn't really in a hurry, so I went inside, just out of curiousity. The staff were courteous and quite helpful. Pawnshops usually have other merchandise to sell, such items that weren't redeemed by its owner, but mostly it's wristwatches & jewelries. However, one particular item inside the glass counter caught my attention: a Beretta 92-F semi-automatic pistol, selling at half the price of a new one from a regular gun store. The Beretta 92-F was chosen in 1985 as the standard-issue U.S. military sidearm, replacing the .45 Government Model. It's also the adopted sidearm choice of several Italian law enforcement agencies and military units. I liked the gun, but with my suspicious nature, it's imperative that I have to ask an essential question: "Is this gun clean?" Promptly he responded, "Oh yeah, you could see it's mint condition, just like it's brand new." "Sir, what I really meant is whether there's verification that this gun have never been used at a scene of a crime." He recovered to reply: "Ohh, that's what you meant! In that case, I can assure you that it's definitely and positively clean." Without any further question about the gun's history, we closed the sale transaction and I came back later to pick up my Beretta 92-F, after the required 10-days waiting period. I've read some reviews saying the old lady that used to own the shop was rude... that's not the case with the 2 brothers that now own it, they're the best: very friendly, accommodating and willing to negotiate prices. They really understand what good customer service really means. I've purchased 3 big ticket items from them and they've always given me great deals. Also, gun transfers are quick and hassle free. You won't have to wait 2+ hrs like at Turner's. I was in and out within 15 min when doing private party transfers. They walk you through it and explain everything in detail, unlike some other gun stores that make you feel inadequate when you don't know this or that feature on a gun or a gun law. The brothers have earned a customer for life in me, I highly recommend this store. BTW, make sure to say hello to the senior gentleman hanging out at the store (the brothers's dad I think), he's another nice guy. read more

One's experience at this place might change depending on what you're there for. I'm one of those guys there for the guns mentioned in other reviews, so I can't comment on the jewelry or guitars or power tools. There might indeed be deals to be had there. I used to frequent Once A Pawn a Time when it was owned by the previous owners, who were gun people. The new owners do not seem to be. As evidence of this, the last time I was in there, I still saw most of the same rifles and miscellaneous inventory I remember from years ago. The reason, I suspect, most rifles had lingered on the racks was because the prices hadn't ever been adjusted over time. In terms of the inventory, most of it is pretty run-of-the-mill, and marked at about $50 over what I'd estimate "fair market value" to be, but it basically is enough of a price difference to erode my desire to impulse buy anything. Combine that with the selection, which is pretty standard for gun stores, and it makes for a series of fairly underwhelming experiences. Or maybe I'm just getting older and pickier. That said, I keep coming back in to browse, but my trips are getting shorter and spaced farther and farther apart. To be fair, someone looking for "plain jane" firearms like a Glock or any kind of non-specialty model 12-gauge might feel the selection is perfect. I can only offer that what I liked about Once a Pawn a Time before was that they attracted enthusiasts and always had some unusual firearms-related curio in the case to tempt my wallet. No longer, it seems. The one thing I will say about the place is that the prices ARE fair, and they ARE nice people, which goes a long way in my book. read more

I created a Yelp account JUST for Once a Pawn of Time! The guys that own it are beyond fantastic, knowledgeable and more importantly they are there to help whoever walks in. I've been going to them for the last 4 years- if I need a quick loan against one of my firearms they always give me TOP DOLLAR in terms of giving you an above average price for firearms you bring in (depending on the type of course). I know this for a fact because I have visited the only other couple Pawn Shops in L.A. County that let you use firearms as collateral. Without naming names...one shop literally offered me only 20% of what my firearm was worth (and I don't buy cheap arms). I bit my tounge...told the guy thank you...then drove out to Glendale! These guys know what they are doing and will answer any questions you have- whether it's jewelry, firearms and whatever they have in the shop. They always have a beautiful assortment of Jewelry and before Covid a huge selection of firearms considering it's a pawn shop and not a regular gun store. If you need help these guys are here to help. I can promise you will not get better service and better prices any place else! read more

These guys are great! They are really nice, I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and not the kind of greeting like hey hi are you get out of here like the pawn shop in old town pasadena. They are really nice and genuine. Sold my laptop to them at a great price! I took my daughter in with me that day, and they gave her a toy bunny and bear just to be nice. I had never been to a pawn shop before and was kindof scared to get ripped off, but they explained everything to me, and everything was really quick and easy. This is my new go to place when I am in a bind and need a fast cash loan. I first went to another pawn shop that was closer to me and what a mistake that was!
