Located on the main road through town, this sandwich shop boasts plenty of vegetarian options. I had a panini that was like nothing I've ever tasted (in a good way) due to the unique combination of ingredients the waiter suggested. The waiter even had sweet potato fries thrown in with the regular fries, giving the plate a dash of color. And hooray! for lemonade not out of a machine! The service was friendly (I showed up a few minutes before they closed, and was invited in and asked to sit where I liked). Not only was the food good our waitress was great. She surprised me with a sample of huevos rancheros. Guacamole was tasty.

We were heading for Durango from Four Corners on the day after Christmas and stopped here for lunch and the place far exceeded our expectations. We had vegetarian sandwiches, which were absolutely delicious. The Fries, Salad, Chips and Salsa were all good too. You could feel the freshness and the quality in each of the items. The owners and the staff were freindly and eager to help with any questions about the food or otherwise. Overall we felt lucky to have come across this place!! A little hole in the wall on Main Street, but a jewel for lunch. DO NOT leave without trying a bowl of RED, you won't be disappointed. It gets rushed and you may have to wait for a table, but it is worth the wait for good sandwiches, quiche to die for, and the best iced tea west of the Mississippi! read more

I hate to give this place a 3 star review because the food was superb, but our waitress was lousy and had a horrible attitude. When I asked what soups were available, she pointed to a board and moved on to the next person in our group. When another person said we were ready to order, she rolled her eyes as if we were bothering her. We asked for separate checks, she said yes, and then threw one check at us. As a former Cortez resident, I patronized this place periodically over a 2-year period of time. The sandwiches are as described in the menu - nothing amazing, but they were consistently well made. Customer Service varied but never was less than a basic business transaction. The only thing that was inconsistent was the wait time - often they were not staffed well enough for the lunch rush and dining in was not recommended if you needed to be in and out in one hour. So, ordering take-out became our solution. read more

We stopped here to eat on our way to Mesa Verde. Great choice! Several options to choose from at a reasonable price. I had the grilled cheese with tomato, bacon and fresh basil with a cup of butternut squash soup. Yummy!! Other people at the table had a BLT and a hamburger with blue cheese. Had a late lunch here today. We had Cheesesteak sandwiches which were very tasty, with more fries than we could eat. The place was not busy, as it was about 2:00, but the waitress was friendly, service fast, and food good. What more could you want. read more

Love love love this place! We come here often for lunch and I can't ever get enough of the sweet potato fries. I've been all over but nothing compares, not to mention the friendly atmosphere is extremely comfortable. The delicious food and friendly staff make this restaurant as charming as its name. First and foremost, the menu pleased all three of us - the picky eater, the vegetarian, and me the fiery food eater. We all enjoyed our sandwiches. Then we ordered malts and coffee. Wow! Having never been to Cortez, we were driving through on a long road trip, looking for lunch. This was a friendly, tasty, economical place to eat. We called Rick, the owner, from the visitor center, who told us we could eat outside with our dog. Extremely courteous & efficient service, and the freshest, tastiest meal of our 6 day journey.
