I especially love the edible chocolate "Happy Birthday" sign and how they package everything so beautifully in a white box with a gold bow and a lavender flower touch it's such a thoughtful and elegant detail. My parents didn't like too sweet cake, and my friend recommended this place to me. The first time, I ordered Strawberry birthday cake, the sponge cake was very soft and the cream was not too heavy. My parents really enjoy their birthday cake. From them on, we keep trying some different cakes; such as Coffee roll- also made by soft sponge cake, but when I cut the cake, there is a strong coffee smell. Banana cake- not as soft as the sponge cake, but after the first bite, the banana flavor was full of my mouth. Also, the price is not too expensive. Joe was totally game to take on my design requests (orange and white roses with vines; Chinese character for double happiness) and even offered to open up the bakery early on Saturday morning so we could pick up the cake and deliver it to our venue nearby in Pasadena (note: you must arrange for your own cake pickup). We ordered a vanilla with strawberry sheet cake for our guests (fed 75 guests with plenty leftover) and a single layer 7"inch vanilla with mango cake for us to display/cut. I've eaten 2 of these and it's been hard to not eat it all in one setting. I haven't tried the fresh fruit custard tart, but I've shared it with some friends who had really good things to say about it. The caramel rose apple tart is another hit - if you like caramel and apple, you'll really love this. Not too sweet due to the tartness from the apples, but with the drizzle of caramel while eaten with the crust - perfect combination for that enticing bite. And don't forget macarons (6 for $10)! I've tried all the flavors and I think I liked the lemon ones the most because of the freshness and tanginess that I got from the macaron. I shared some of these treats with my grandma and she ended up really enjoying them because they weren't too sweet. That frosting was embarrassing to serve and many guests scraped it off to the side after having tasted it. Prices? As of this writing, a quarter flat suggested for 20 people was $65. We got there to pick up the cake near closing so the gave us a few Chinese pastry that would otherwise have gone to waste with a great attitude. (The pastries were way too sweet for us. The Japanese style bread was good but cut thinner than the normal Japanese version which we we like). Also they kept the cake in their refrigerator when it turned out we needed to call in to say we couldn't arrive as scheduled and needed to get there much later. Staff was great - much friendlier than before. Ought you buy a Mango Cake? Yes, it's delish! But do try asking for real whip cream only as the frosting and ask for the sweetness of your choice. Another hint: if you like mangoes, try asking for this: ask for mango slices on top, under the frosting and pay extra for it. That's what I intend to request. Btw, the cake will last in a cold fridge for a week. Well, at least our's has been slowly being eaten, it's been a week and it's still fresh and delicious. Hello, any preservatives anyone? Honestly I don't know if there are any preservatives in any part of the cake at all. And since it's a special, rare event, we tossed our organics only parameters aside to accommodate this yummy, light cake and fruit parts of this cake.

Unfortunately, my experience yesterday has completely changed my perception. When I walked in around 6-7:30PM, within seconds, an employee (an older woman wearing pink) began speaking about me in Cantonese, assuming I wouldn't understand. In less than a minute, she and others behind the counter were making inappropriate and judgmental comments about my appearance, including remarks about my clothing and body(my boobs? Really?!! Inappropriate). This is HARASSMENT. This behavior was extremely unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable and disrespected. No customer should feel judged or spoken about in this way, regardless of the language being used. I'm deeply disappointed, especially given my long history with this bakery. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the issue so no one else has to go through a similar experience. 0 stars.
