This afternoon, I stopped by Patisserie Too in Alhambra to get some egg tarts. I had recently seen a post on social media saying that their egg tarts are only $0.99 each and surprisingly delicious, so I had been wanting to check this place out. Luckily, today I was in the area with my best friend to get a massage, and it was only about 10 minutes away from where we were, so we decided to stop by. The egg tarts here were honestly as good as people had said they were. They were delicious, and I especially loved how affordable they were. The staff was also very nice, and the restroom was so clean. The parking sign said that parking was free for 2 hours, but we only stayed for about 10 minutes to grab and eat our egg tarts. My friend said that after parking there, she met the owner of a restaurant next door, who told her that the parking is actually only free for 1 hour. Either way, we left after about 10 minutes because it was almost time for our massage appointment. Today, I bought 2 egg tarts for my friend, and I also bought 6 more to take home and enjoy with my family tomorrow morning. I checked out Patisserie Too as part of my own eat all the baked goods tour of the 626, I sadly did not eat all the baked goods. Its a small shop on Main in Alhambra and there's a lot in the back as well as street parking. It's a brightly lit, pick up and go type place though there are a couple tables out front. The baked goods look really cute and enticing and I ended up going for a mystery box since I wasn't after a specific cake and the mystery aspect seemed appealing. I also got 6 egg tarts, which were a great price at $1 each. The baked goods/sweets looked better than they tasted flr me. The egg tarts had a texture that was a bit off putting for myself, it was more of a steamed egg texture than a silky custardy filling. Flavorwise, they were ok though. The mystery box was fun and I got an apple cake, peach cake, and a panda cake. Now the mystery box is day old cakes so keeping that in mind, they are like cream based "cakes" and are essentially cream covered gels/jellies of some sort. The flavor and textures were good, very light cream with strong fruit flavors (the panda was also a peach flavor, I think). As a set of the mystery box price, I think the cakes are fun to try but I wouldn't, personally, pay those prices for essentially shaped cream. This new spot is located on Main Street, a bustling area of Alhambra. It's brighter inside, clean with a few tables. I recently saw all of the cute photos of Patisserie Too from my Yelp friend Ian A. and I knew my niece would enjoy the cuteness. Patisserie Too is located down in Main Street in Alhambra. There are public parking structures or street parking down in this area. We parked in a public structure a few blocks away and walked over. We got really lucky with timing because there was no line when we got here but it got busy soon after. They have a cute selection of little cakes and some pastries. For the cakes, my niece and I made our decision based on what was visually more unique compared to other things we've seen. We got the Baby Shark ($7.75), Garlic Bird ($8.75), and King Panda ($8.75). That was a lot of treats already, but we also got the Portuguese Egg Tart ($0.99/each). Service was nothing memorable. They have 3 small tables inside a I think 2 outside. Not much seating, so I'm really glad we got first dibs at a table before it was busy. When we sat down, we arranged our cakes for photos. These cakes were definitely made with molds. They are super cute and unique molds. The garlic bird was the best tasting combination and texture. The baby shark was already dripping blue sweat when it was served to us. The mousse was a little off. Halfway through eating there was the chocolate cake base that was strangely only in half of the cake. The panda was probably the worst and we didn't care to finish it. The mouse was strange in texture and the filling definitely had too much gelatin because it was rubbery. Cute but the technical execution was lacking for my preference. The egg tart was also pretty good. Not as flakey as I like it to be but it was an inexpensive treat so I wouldn't mind getting it again. I tried a couple of their most popular items, and while they were okay, they were kind of bland? The flavors weren't as bold or memorable as I was hoping, and some textures were a bit off. It was a bit of a letdown after how stunning everything looked. My experience was just okay, so I'm landing at 3 stars. The staff was nice, the place is charming, and I wouldn't say no to coming back with a friend to try a different pastry and a coffee. The cheapest and simplest one is the Portuguese egg tart and the more fancy ones are either $1.75 or $2. I tried all of them: Portuguese egg tart, cheese tart, caramel croissant tart, tiramisu tart, berry tart, and coconut tart (my favorite). We also got the salted egg yolk croissant for only $1 which is a steal although I wish it was a tad bit sweeter to balance out the salt. It was a smooth process to go in and buy. Parking is easy with lots of surrounding structures and even spots in the back of the bakery, which makes stopping by convenient. Service was friendly, fast, and everything is very reasonably priced. The best thing about this place is the price. Awesome value. The Egg Tarts (regular or Portuguese) are alright. It's not bad, but not great. The best thing to get would be Cheese Tart & Cherry Danish imo. Service was fine. No issues. So glad the last bakery shop is gone, due to customer service. Came in to buy my girls a treat and we fell in love. The prices are reasonable and the pastries were delicious! We got a: Black bear, grizzly bear, 2 hazelnut croissants, and cherry danish. Peach tea. The grizzly bear was delish, we loved the mango/passion fruit filling! The black bear was delish with their chocolate mousse and raspberry filling! The croissants were served warm!!! Very crispy and delicious. The peach tea was refreshing. Specialized in cakes and egg tarts, with the egg tarts and drinks priced so affordable that it felt like a steal. Obviously, that drew the crowd right away. Line moved pretty quickly though and good thing was they continued restocking throughout the day so everything's mostly in stock. They did provide few tables in the venue if you fancied enjoying your pastries straight away like us. We got their Garlic Bird for the cake, the mini croissants, and doubtlessly the egg tarts. The cake was prolly the only one that I thought so-so. Unique flavor with green grape yogurt and taro paste, but just okay in taste. The mini croissants were pretty good for the price. It wasn't like abundantly filled, but certainly not bad for being $2ish esp the salted yolk. The egg tarts should be the reason to come and come back again. Super affordable and the buttery case made them great! The Portugese one was certainly the default one to try but I personally loved the caramel croissant one. read more
