I was expecting a small restaurant with outdoor seating, but it's actually quite a large outdoor patio and pavilion in the middle of the park. Cool ambience, patio tables, lounge chairs, chairs around the fireplace, kids playing, Live music. The food is kind of hippie style, but decent. I ordered the black bean burger which was decent but not incredible. My wife ordered the Manly man steak sandwiching which I tried and did not think it was very good. However the chopped capri salad was excellent. Food was acceptable, but with the right weather the ambiance make it a place we would for sure return. Awesome, hip cafe with a lot of variety and fresh food options. Reasonable prices too! I think the decor of this place is fun. It has some indoor seating and seating at the bar as well. Most of the seating is outside on picnic tables and large wooden chairs. I have tried: Avocado Chicken- a delicious, warm flatbread with really juicy and tender pieces of chicken. The avocado cream sauce is the perfect alternative to mayo. I got coleslaw as a side, which was probably the best coleslaw I've ever had as a side. I absolutely adore this place. I live in a nearby apartment complex and it's my favorite place to walk to with my dog and grab a bite to eat or a drink while listening to lovely live music. The food is delicious, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the service is *excellent*- all the workers are so friendly and helpful. The outdoor seating atmosphere is fabulous, with a fire pit, regular tables, picnic tables, and a sandy area for little ones to play in. The cafe is in one corner of a large, grassy square, so you can also bring a blanket and have an evening picnic, play some frisbee or soccer, etc. It's a great family spot, date spot, really anything! Also- free live music with no cover every Thurs-Sat evening and Sat&Sun mornings. Can't beat it! read more

Apparently I missed writing a review for this unique spot. I've been to OLC a few times now. I was away from Gainesville for about 6 month and in that time they added a roof - which makes a HUGE difference to the experience, and prevents rainouts on Friday and Saturday nights when there's music! The first few times I came here, I never ate anything because the lines were really long. I am not a fan of the set up - you go in to order, and there are separate lines for drinks and food. I can see plusses and minuses to the separate lines, I just don't care for the walk up and order and then servers bring it out to you. I'd prefer to just order from a server. Anyway. The menu is fairly limited. Most recently I had the Avocado Chicken Flatbread, which was very good, and a side of Maple Baked Beans which were super! Friends say the Mac n' cheese, made fresh from scratch here, is also a great side. It's a cool place. Nice relaxed atmosphere to hang out with friends and enjoy some music. Sometimes they play movies as well. Pet and kid friendly, just a happy place. I wish they were open a couple of more nights during the week. There have been several times friends and I have wanted to come here, on a Wednesday, which is how we learned they're closed then. read more

Great space for gathering and listening to live music. BUT, you have to go inside, wait in line (sometimes it's a LONG wait) to order your food. Then waitstaff brings it to your table. I tried One Love for the first time today and had mixed feelings. When I walked up, there was a craft show, which they have on the second Saturday of every month. There were a ton of people sitting outside and a live musician, which was awesome. There is no inside seating, but the outside is well landscaped. They have both covered and uncovered outdoor seating and they are very pet friendly, so a lot of people brought dogs and played in the field outside of the restaurant. You order your food from the kitchen inside and can order a drink from the bar, which is right next to the food line. The atmosphere deserves 5 stars. They have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options on their menu and it is pretty fairly priced. I've been going through a phase where I can't seem to get enough lentils and I wanted to try something unique, so I ordered a lentil burger with cheese on ciabatta with a side of homemade mac n cheese. The lentil burger was supposed to come with a homemade pickle on it, so I asked the cashier ahead of time if the pickles were dill or sweet (I don't like sweet pickles, but I love love love dill pickles) and the girl said they were closer to dill than sweet, but just to be sure, I ordered my pickle on the side. As soon as I ordered and walked outside, my food was delivered, but it was cold... idk about you, but I usually like my burgers to be sizzling hot. My burger was not even close. Even the mac n cheese was lukewarm at best. The mac n cheese tasted good and came with bread crumbs on top, but the lentil burger was personally not my favorite. I eventually added hot sauce and it made it slightly better. When I took my first bite of the pickle, I got the most overwhelmingly sweet taste... not my thing at all. I was very glad that I ordered the pickle on the side and not on the burger. Overall, my meal was pretty big and I was stuffed at the end, but I didn't think it was very good. Later on, I went inside to order a drink from the bar. They had a special written on the board called the Red Velvet that contained blueberry, mint, and a few other flavors and when I tried to order it, they told me they were out of some of the ingredients and could not make the drink. When I was trying to decide what to order, one of my friends came in and tried to order the cactus juice, a drink that contains amaretto, but they apparently were out of amaretto as well and told him they could not make that drink either. They had a couple other cocktails on the menu made with amaretto, so they would not have been able to make those either. I finally ordered the peach sangria, which was very reasonably priced at $6 and tasted pretty good. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here, but I don't think I would order the lentil burger again. Not sure what was going on today, but it seems strange that both the food was cold and they couldn't make the drinks we wanted. Hopefully they were just having an off day. read more

Went to one of my favorite places last night One Love. Brought my own chairs prepared for them being busy. Ordered food and drinks the first time and waited in lines for a bit but not excessively. The second time I ordered food waited in line about 20 minutes.... no big deal... enjoyed the atmosphere as I waited. Tried to order only to be told they were out of the things I wanted. Ok...‍ changed my order. Sit with family and friends and waited... as other orders came out around me. After an hour went to ask about my order of 2 items. Staff was rude... dismissive and food cold. I have been a fan of One Love since before they had pavers and only had a few picnic tables. No more. The attitude of the staff was so appalling. I guess that doesn't necessarily translate to knowledge in preparation or presentation. Most options are at least pretty healthy so it's better than average tasting food that makes you feel like crap. There's no kids' menu which I find odd considering they tend to attract families with kids. However, I'll say that the sliders work out well for my 3 year old since she can't be trusted to eat an entire meal anyway. Beer selection is above average - plenty of local craft options as well as basics like Corona or Redd's to suit all types. Live music is a nice touch - some nights more than others, yikes! - but it's too loud. We're not at a concert... really, are there not enough comments about it here for someone from the business to address it? The bathrooms are surprisingly nice and clean. Whenever entering a bathroom from the outside I expect them to look and smell like a truck stop, so it was a nice surprise to take my daughter in without holding her in the air over the toilet and bathing her in hand sanitizer afterwards. Overall, the atmosphere is the main reason to come here, which is what I expected before I ever came. I wouldn't dream of coming in the middle of a hot summer day but for happy hour on a nice evening it's great. I'll probably come back for football season. read more

The first time I came with my family our food took quite a while to receive (which I get, it was busy), but when we finally got our food our orders weren't correct, and the staff offered to remake the correct item but we'd already been there for nearly an hour and we couldn't wait so I just ate it. Today we came for brunch, I received my omelet first, the omelette was good but all my sides (potatoes and biscuit) was cold. My wife's food was not ready for another 20 minutes and finally brought out. Overall wish they could improve service and quality control because I really wanted to like this place. Upon arriving to the area, there is some definite confusion as to whether we needed to wait for a waiter since we entered into the outside eating area. After a few seconds we realized we needed to order indoors. I felt a little rushed making a decision about what to order since the menu is a little extensive. (Also there's a separate bar for drinks that you could barely see the menu for). I settled for a chicken pesto sandwich with a side of baked beans that came out to be $13.50 ($4 extra because of the chicken?), which seems a bit outrageous because my sandwich barely had any chicken. Not very many options, plus they were out of a few things by the time we got there. I had the cheese omelette with home fries and a bloody samurai, and my bf had eggs Benedict with cheese grits and a Bellini. We were in line about half an hour before we finally ordered, but our food came out less than ten minutes after we did. Everything was just... fine. I think the Benedict was better than the omelette, though the sausage was good in both. The live music was way too loud, so it was hard to hear what we were saying. Our sides were both better than our main dishes. I don't know - I probably won't be back, at least for brunch. If I remember, I might come again for dinner on a nice night to listen to music and drink beer. I did not love One Love Cafe. We arrived Sunday around 1 and were disappointed to find that only the brunch menu was being served. We sucked it up and ordered the Hash Bowl and Simple Breakfast. The food didn't come out until 40 minutes later. When it did arrive, both meals were room temperature. The meals themselves were underwhelming, too. After seeing awesome reviews on Yelp, I was upset to see that the breakfast plate was some egg, two bacon strips, and a piece of "toast" (it was basically bread since it wasn't toasted). The hash bowl was some mixed veggies, roasted potatoes, and about a half a cup of quinoa. After spending over $30 here, I was expecting more. The service was so-so, but there wasn't much to judge it on since we order and pay upfront and they bring the food to the table. When the weather is nice and you want great outdoor atmosphere, this place can't be beat. The outdoor seating is spacious and comfortable and there's plenty of room for kids and dogs to run around in the little adjacent park area. Perfect place to relax, have a few drinks, and enjoy live music. The music today was stellar! Better than the live music you typically hear anywhere else in this town. My only complaint is how loud it is. We went for brunch and although we all thought the musician was fabulous, we could not have any conversation at the table unless it was between sets. It's just way too loud. Food is organic and locally sourced so you can feel good about what you eat here. Between all of us, some had really great meals, some had underwhelming meals. Chicken was a little over cooked on one of the sandwiches so our dog ate well! Speaking of dogs, this place is super dog friendly and the staff was awesome about bringing out water and dog bowls. There were lots of other pups there enjoying the weekend with their humans. It's just a really fun, friendly vibe. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Again, the vibe and atmosphere can't be beat. Just wish the music wasn't quite so loud so you can enjoy talking to the people you're with and food was a little more consistent. I am writing this review a few months late, but I'll tell you about my experience anyway... I was excited to try One Love Cafe because I love supporting local businesses and I thought their story was cute. I lurked their Facebook page and checked out photos on here as well. I saw they had a vegan black bean burger on the menu and also a plethora of options for my carnivore husband. It was a rainy day, so no one was sitting outside and it was pretty packed inside. We were looking at the chalk board menu on the wall. That's where I read that the vegan burger came with cheese and a side of cole slaw. Incase you're unfamiliar with what a vegan diet is, it is no animal products whatsoever. Obviously cheese on a burger and coleslaw on the side would make this NOT a vegan meal. I decided to order it anyway, but without cheese and quinoa salad to replace the coleslaw. I asked the girl at the counter if the bun was vegan. She didn't know, so I told her just to put the bean burger in a lettuce wrap instead. My husband ordered the pork sliders. The owner came out after we had sat down and talked to me about the bun they use for the burgers. It contained egg, therefore, not vegan. She said she hadn't even thought about the bun. She was very nice, but if they plan on calling it a "vegan burger", it needs to really be vegan. With the cheese, egg and a side of cole slaw, it was a total vegan fail. A few minutes later our food came out. My black bean burger on a piece of lettuce was very unimpressive. It was more like a black bean sloppy joe, didn't hold together at all. The quinoa salad was really good though. Great flavors. My husband really enjoyed his pork sliders and cole slaw. I'm giving them two stars since the owner was very friendly (just not knowledgable about vegan items) and my husband enjoyed his food. This place was a pretty big disappointment for me. Id heard so much good about it, but it just didn't live up to the reviews in my opinion. Started off with the sweet tea one of my kids got being bad(as in rotten), they asked for a new cup and told them it was bad, only to be handed a new cup and no bother to get rid of the bad tea still in the jug. Got the lemonade instead, tasted like watery kool-aid. Then the food came, kids got the pulled beef and pulled pork sandwiches. Both were ok, not much flavor at all. One of the beef sliders had all fat for meat. I had wanted the kale quinoa salad and was told it wasn't ready but the love salad was the same with arugula instead. So I got that. Was completely different, no quinoa, no beans, just a different salad ...not even close to the other one. It was the best thing we had, she just shouldn't have told me it was the same when it wasn't. The beef sandwich was very "meh". Bland and not flavorful. It was also almost impossible to eat, and completely fell apart about halfway through, due to the coleslaw soaking through the bread. Very disappointing, especially since I can tell this is one dish they are quite proud of; I saw pictures of it on their Facebook page (which is what prompted me to order it), saying how they marinate it for hours, with peppers, to give it a little kick. I'm sorry to say, but it just completely missed the mark for me and I could detect zero "kick". That being said, I love the space they have created. The huge outdoor area is great, as was the musical talent. Very cool and family friendly if you have kids, but still want to enjoy a beer. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed what he ate (some breakfast sandwich), so at least there is a glimmer of hope for the food! For that reason, and the awesome atmosphere, I will definitely return and give some other menu items a chance. My advice would be to avoid that beef though.... read more

This is beautiful outside location, great for kids to play around and wait for food. There are tables with umbrellas and a beautiful lawn. We got two of the eight dollar specials - one with three barbecue chicken sliders and one with two curry chicken sliders or in a croissant. The sides are baked beans which were surprisingly spicy, a coleslaw which we didn't have and a fabulous homemade mac and cheese. They said it was happy hour all day long on Saturday so the beer was fairly cheap with Stella at two dollars draft and some first magnitude beers four dollars. I thought the curry chicken was great with raisins, purple grapes, and celery. The barbecue was sweet with a nice contrast slaw on top that had some spicy pickled onions. What clinched it for me was the ability to have my almost 3-year-old be able to run around. The seating inside is limited with about 10 bar seats and three hightop four-person tables. read more

The place is definitely impressive, a few months ago when I came here they didn't have a canopy, but now they do! They are making renovations here and there but I can see this place become a hot spot for dates and get togethers.
