The beef sandwich was very "meh". Bland and not flavorful. It was also almost impossible to eat, and completely fell apart about halfway through, due to the coleslaw soaking through the bread. Very disappointing, especially since I can tell this is one dish they are quite proud of; I saw pictures of it on their Facebook page (which is what prompted me to order it), saying how they marinate it for hours, with peppers, to give it a little kick. I'm sorry to say, but it just completely missed the mark for me and I could detect zero "kick". That being said, I love the space they have created. The huge outdoor area is great, as was the musical talent. Very cool and family friendly if you have kids, but still want to enjoy a beer. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed what he ate (some breakfast sandwich), so at least there is a glimmer of hope for the food! This is beautiful outside location, great for kids to play around and wait for food. There are tables with umbrellas and a beautiful lawn. We got two of the eight dollar specials - one with three barbecue chicken sliders and one with two curry chicken sliders or in a croissant. The sides are baked beans which were surprisingly spicy, a coleslaw which we didn't have and a fabulous homemade mac and cheese. They said it was happy hour all day long on Saturday so the beer was fairly cheap with Stella at two dollars draft and some first magnitude beers four dollars. I thought the curry chicken was great with raisins, purple grapes, and celery. The barbecue was sweet with a nice contrast slaw on top that had some spicy pickled onions. Black bean burger was huge couldn't take a proper bite and the avocado made it fall apart and was almost impossible to eat. Very tasteless compared to other vegan burgers in the area. Vegans will be disappointed. Vegetable medley (as a side ) was drenched in oil. A small cup of water was expensive without even having ice in it. And the cashier was rude when I asked what type of unsweetened tea it was and talking down to me saying "it's powdered and other rude comments". She just didn't know how tea worked. Overrated . The place is definitely impressive, a few months ago when I came here they didn't have a canopy, but now they do! They are making renovations here and there but I can see this place become a hot spot for dates and get togethers. Wow! Yelp! Hits another home run. Driving from Tampa to Tallahassee we knew we would be around Gainesville by lunch so we pulled up the yelp! App and looked for salad. New spot with only three reviews but gave it a shot, good move. Everything wash great, friendly service too. Small but inviting with nice decor. We didn't opt for salads when we saw the other intriguing items in the menu. Great fresh cole slaw, baked beans, pickled onions (!) all made in house. It's these small things that can set a place apart and translates too great entrees as well! Now just wish it was close to home, but we know where it is for future trips. For the second week in a row, this place turns to garbage on Friday night. It's like all the same people that line up for Flying Biscuit on Saturday morning ( FB is really not special and it's overpriced... these people are just like sheep ) all told each other to come here on Friday night. I hate this, because this used to be a place that I could go to for a quiet meal and actually feel ok. Now it's just the worst scenario you could imagine. It feels touristy and it just the worst. The food is decent and the prices are ok, but none of that matters anymore because this place is ruined. They won't even answer their phone. Way to go mainstream Gainesville. Here is a tip: create a capacity limit, demand very large parties make reservations far in advance and never stop taking call in orders or you will lose a lot of customers. 10 bucks says Brad K. is there right now... That means ordering from the mumbling, bored cashier, who couldn't be bothered to hand me a table number (for delivery of my meal) until I prompted her. Next: They brought me some else's meal. Meaning, the cashier paid no attention to the number she handed me. Uh... I did not order eggs Benedict or potatoes ... I watched 2 servers stand in the middle of the outdoor dining room with two plates of food, wondering which goes where. (One was mine.) Then there is the food itself. If the customer is supposed to butter her own toast, it should be served with spreadable butter, not a rock-hard foil-wrapped chunk. Fried eggs should not have runny whites. Gross. This place is really cool. There is a huge outdoor area with things for the kids to do and the fam is hang at. If you're there to drink, it has a chill atmosphere (and occasionally local, live music). And if you're there to eat, the food is fresh and delish. My only complaint: They are open super weird hours.... So don't be surprised if you show up and they're closed. read more

If you're spending a few days in Gainesville then One Love Cafe should be on your shortlist of must visit places to dine. The vibe there is as fresh as the mostly organic and locally sourced food they serve. With the exception of a couple of tables and a row of stools at the bar, seating is mostly outdoors. You may take your seat under a large covered patio or at one of the many umbrella shaded picnic tables. Ceiling fans and cooling water mists keep patrons sitting in the main patio area cool from the hot Florida sun. There is also a stage for live bands and 3 acres of grass for which to roam and play yard games such as tether ball, cornhole, bocce, and washers. I'm happy to report that dogs are very welcome and there are several pet cleanup stations located along the edges of the premises. One Love Cafe excels at setting the tone for a chill backyard party kind of vibe; but they are a cafe and food is kind of important as well. Unfortunately, the food is the only reason One Love didn't earn a perfect 5 stars from me this time. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible food and the menu is filled with unique dishes from what is claimed to be as organic and locally sourced as possible; but there was something still to be desired in the execution. For example, my wife and myself each ordered a sirloin steak on pita flatbread meal. I the Steak Pesto and she the Hoggetowne Cheesesteak. When our meals arrived in short time we noticed a huge difference between the portion of steak given to each of us. There were a mere 5 thin slices of steak on my flatbread which led to ordering remorse when I gazed upon the near pound and a half mountain of steak on my wife's flatbread. She actually said it was too much. Okay, so oversight happens in the kitchen on occasion but couple that with another couple of taste mistakes such as her meal was also too salty and my sweet tea had a (they obviously brewed this tea in a coffee pot because it tastes like coffee) kind of taste to it and I sadly had to knock a star. Nonetheless, One Love Cafe gives such a hip and fun experience that it is enviable that there is not a similar place in my home town. The vibe is fantastic and so are all of the team members who were very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. This place is a great addition to this side of town. The food is delicious, and it seems like they make everything -- down to the ketchup and mustard! -- from scratch which is awesome. The veggie burger and the One Love Cafe salad are amazing, as is the Mac and Cheese. The outdoor seating is one of the best in town. It's a very beautiful and peaceful area, not next to a road like pretty much everywhere else in town with outdoor seating. The only two complaints I have would be that they have more vegetarian options, e.g., they have three flat breads on the menu, none of which are vegetarian, and all the specials had bacon in them (veggie sandwich with bacon?), and that they improve their wine selection. The beer selection is good, but the wine selection leaves a bit to be desired (Cavit Pinot Grigio? Honestly.) We will definitely be back! read more

They have grown tremendously since they first started. I love the outdoors and the activities you can do with children. The food takes a little too long to prepare but if you are outside, the time passes by quickly. Since I love meat, most of the time I buy their juicy burgers. Hit or miss with some things on the menu. The sliders with meat or the vegetarian options are the best thing I've had there so far. They make the most delicious sautéd vegetables as well. However, I had the some kind of chicken sandwich that came on pita bread and the chicken was very dry and the black bean burger is bland. It's essentially just blended black beans in a patty shape. I go here pretty often so I'm not dissing the restaurant! Some of there menu just needs some work, but if you get the right thing the food can be great! read more

Big burger on a big bun. Unfortunately it was cold and fell apart as I tried to eat it. And DRY AS CAN BE! I put k and m on it but that didn't help at all! Food is really really really not good. I just don't get this place. They spend so much money on the outside and having a band and all that and outdoor heater thingys with fireplaces, but the food is just really terrible ; and I've had a lot a dishes here, to be honest I don't know why I keep going back! EDIT: I have to edit this and add something. I just found out that their buns that they use for the supposed vegan burgers like the lentil and black bean actually use eggs and are not vegan and this was apparently confirmed by a worker who looked into it. To write this on the menu that these burgers, if u subtract the cheese, are vegan is absolutely ridiculous. Honestly, how can u blatantly lie to tons of customers who rely on the menu being accurate so as to avoid supporting the mass torture and slaughter of trillions of animals every year. Yeah I plugged that in their, but if your going to say it's vegan, at least KNOW that it's vegan. Otherwise just don't put it on the menu. Really fun place, with outdoor seating. You can bring your dog with you...I sometimes don't like sitting outside, because of second hand smoke, but this has not been a problem here. Really good concept and location. Consistently tasty food and unique rotating menu. All outdoor seating, patio style with fans to make the summer heat more bearable. Fun environment. Bathrooms clean and nicely decorated (nice touch). Nice that there's live music in the weekend. Highly recommend checking it out for brunch on a weekend. I do have two minor suggestions: 1) Start serving lunch earlier than 1pm. Lunch options should be able to be ordered by noon at the latest, overlapping for an hour with brunch if needed. I understand they have a small kitchen, so this may not be possible. It was slightly offputting to not be allowed to order lunch items at 12:30 and told I have to wait until 1. But the breakfast options are tasty so no huge thing. 2) Making sure the volume of the artist's speakers still allows some conversation -- at times the music seemed far too loud for brunch time (and we were seated farther away from the stage intentionally). I love the music but I also want to be able to hold a conservation without yelling, so maybe aim for medium volume for daytime artists read more

This has got to be the cutest little hang out! I love this place for the atmosphere, the live music when they have events going on, and just relaxing. The food unfortunately is just ok, and its a little pricey for what you get. I got a chicken wrap and the pieces of chicken were too big, and kinda dry. It was difficult to eat, and lacked some flavor. I have heard good things about brunch, and would like to give that a try! I found the strange two line ordering system to be completely inefficient and frustrating. I chose not to order a second drink because the wait was extremely long. My signature salad was missing half of the ingredients mentioned on the board. The chicken was greasy and a bit burnt. The tables weren't being bussed quickly so there was lots of trash laying around. The kid behind the bar with the man-bun ponytail thing yelled at the customers at one point. This is a new neighborhood spot in the Magnolia Park business park off of 39th Ave. Small interior, but very cute and clean. They offer draft beer and wine, with a small bar and a big screen. Great homemade food specials, such as pulled pork and buffalo chicken sliders for $2.50 a piece, hand ground burgers, salads, black bean burgers, and shrimp diablo. There's a large outdoor area in the park with a big screen set up for game day and movie nights, even a corn hole game set. I will definitely return! read more

Every time I come here they are out of everything. I am not picky and can usually roll with the punches. However, today they are out of bacon, home fries, bagels not to mention there WiFi went down and they couldn't accept credit cards. Last time I came here, I ordered and they waited until everyone at the table was done eating to let me know they were out of what I ordered. Atmosphere is nice, however tipping someone 20% on an over priced breakfast after I wait in like for 30 minutes to order is not worth it. One of the best lunch options on this side of town. This is a new restaurant. The food is creative, filling, and very tasty. Loved the meatloaf with bacon jelly, as well as the maple bacon baked beans (yes, I have a bacon fetish). My daughter ordered a black bean burger that was really exceptional. And huge. However, the side order of bacon is just one slice which is disappointing. The rest of the food is average, but a little pricey. The best part of this place is that it is not crowded, and the seating is nice. If the food were better or not so expensive, it would probably be crowded, so I guess that's the price you pay. Review update: here again on a Saturday morning, nice patio, but crappy food. Today they are serving hamburger buns they are advertising as ciabatta. Not even close.
