Update as of 5/14/18: since my last review the owner Brannon reached out to me and offered a free 4wk trial to setup the trail. Advised me to email a particular staff named K'waun. Which I did on 5/2/18. Til now I have yet to receive a reply from this person. My friend and I are extremely disappointed at the level of unprofessionalism of the staff that for the third time we have been let down therefore will not be having our kids utilize their services even if it's free! read more

Great place. Very community oriented. Lots of activities. Also has camps and after school care so it's more than just a martial arts place.

My daughter has been going to One Martial Arts for 1 month and she loves it! She looks forward to going to karate every week. From the first minute of her first class they made her feel welcome and began instilling confidence in her. Their life skills curriculum is a wonderful addition to the karate program. Their program is presented in a strict but not threatening manner through positive reinforcement and modeling. Try a trial class and your child will be hooked! read more

What an unbelievably fantastic organization! There is almost a cult following for One Martial Arts that's well deserved. This family-run business is well run, affordable, and makes frequent efforts to give back to the community. We enrolled our son in One Martial's Excellent Kids program at age 3 when we were living in San Francisco. Wifey and I weren't really expecting much other than a place that would run him around a bit so he wouldn't drive us crazy at home. While our boy did plenty of running, what we didn't expect was One Martial's focus on life lessons and attitude. Each class is structured around a topic (e.g. focus, discipline, manners, etc) and martial arts is used as vehicle to reinforce the main topic of the day. This method is VERY effective and seems to work extremely well, especially in very young children. Each class is well-organized, the instructors are thoroughly prepared every session (they remember each and every child's name and use lots of positive reinforcement) and obviously have plenty of experience teaching children. My son had always been incredibly shy, especially in group settings. As expected, our first few classes at One Martial were not optimal... my wifey would describe those first experiences as an unmitigated disaster. The first couple of classes pretty much consisted of my son cowering in a corner and quietly sobbing, while I covered my face in utter embarrassment. Despite this, every instructor was unfazed and gently supported him throughout the class, checking in on him and nudging him along when he allowed. Although we seriously had thoughts of giving up, we recognized the potential value of his experience at One Martial and are grateful we stuck it out. By the fourth class, my son was participating in all of the lessons and we were flabbergasted by how much his confidence had grown. I still remember the day when the class lesson consisted of having the students formally introduce themselves to each other by stating their name, shaking hands, and asking for each other's names. Ordinary tasks for most children, but something my painfully shy 3 year-old could never muster the courage for. That day, we witnessed our son stand tall, speak with confidence, and actually enjoy making a new friend. My wife cried and I celebrated with a bacon cheeseburger... Two years later, every successive class has brought another tremendous milestone and added to my son's growing confidence and discipline. One Martial has done more for my boy than any other activity we've tried (piano, swimming, etc). As is often the case with this organization, their quality seems to suck in innocent parents to their fold like a black hole. Many of the instructors, junior instructors, and staff started as students or parents of students who have continued to stay with One Martial throughout the years. Wifey and I are guilty of this as we are now regulars of their KICK ASS cardio-kickboxing classes (not really called KICK ASS, I just like to call it that). One Martial also offers Spring break and Summer camp activities, so we decided to give that a whirl just this last Spring. Our boy had a fantastic experience over the spring holiday and we were grateful to have one less thing to worry about in terms of responsible childcare for these seemingly random public school holidays. Most impressive to our family is how often One Martial gives back to its members and community. They have frequent parties for all the major holidays (which are always free to members and friends of members), offer free parent "date nights" at their SF location where they care for your children while you head out for the evening (something we hope they'll soon extend to this Millbrae location), and usually have at least one activity every month for families to get involved. Rumor has it that they may start offering free childcare for some kickboxing classes to encourage lard-ass parents like myself to work off all those cheeseburgers I've been inhaling... read more

Went to my first kick boxing class ever and haven't worked out in awhile. This place was great, the teachers were understanding and welcoming. I didn't feel like I had prove anything, they made sure I went at my pace and took the time to go to each person and talk with them to make sure they had the right stance. I've been both a parent and a student at One Martial Arts San Francisco for the last eight years. My son came up through the Excellent Kids program, through Youth Karate to earn his black belt. I take kickboxing and adult karate classes. I can't recommend Professor Beliso and his team highly enough - they are exceptional, inspiring teachers and great role models for kids and adults alike. My grandson has been going here since he was 5. Wonderful place. There is also a S.F. location on Taraval St. Professor Beliso and his wife run the center in Millbrae. They are wonderful people. My grandson has learned a lot. They also offer so many extras free of charge. Parent's Night Out is one of them. You have 4 hours to do whatever you want while they keep your children snd keep them busy with tons of activities. They have holiday celebrations. The Easter bunny even comes! Professor Beliso also teaches the true meaning of karate. If you're looking for the perfect karate school you'll be glad you found One Martial Arts. read more

What a great place, the environment is wonderful...lots of natural light, friendly staff and good space. They were so helpful in allowing us to schedule camps in a way that fit our needs. The prices are more than reasonable! The philosophy behind the facility is in complete alignment with my belief systems...respect, confidence and positive reinforcement are some of the key ingredients making this a place I would recommend to everyone. Just had kid's birthday party here today. People who work here are caring and amazing! I really appreciate all their help to make the birthday party fun and easy for the host. When we arrived, we were amazed to see how beautiful the set up was, and during the birthday party the kids and parents have 1 hour fun and very great exercises! What impressed me the most is one of the staffs noticed that I was trying to collect the cake decorations back while he was helping serve the cake, then he offered to help me clean them and I noticed he carefully dry those toy decorations before passing them to me. They are detail oriented and did a wonderful job to make the birthday party memorable for both us as the host and our guests. read more

My son had his birthday party here with a Star Wars theme. They did a beautiful job decorating the party room, complete with larger than life cardboard cutouts of Star Wars characters! The party was a hit with the kids, ranging from ages 3 to 9. I love that the activities provide a workout for the parents too! read more

Love this place! I went from working out maybe 5 times in a year at the regular gym to being so dedicated to this kickboxing class that I usually go 3x/week. Professor and the entire team is so inspiring and motivational. Also love that I can bring my kids with me so nothing holds me back from investing in my own health. Highly recommend. read more

The instructors and staff are the best. They know how to simultaneously challenge and encourage the kids, setting high standards and helping the kids to achieve them. They are excellent role models. The Beliso's are amazing people who do not hesitate to give back to their community as well. We feel very fortunate to have found this studio when it first opened a few years ago. When I signed my son up for the summer camp at One Martial Arts in Millbrae I was very excited about their long hours: 7:30AM-6:30PM. However, I was disappointed when I went to drop him off at 7:30 and found that no one was there. I wasn't able to drop him off until 7:45, 15 minutes after I was told they open. I was excited when I found a summer camp for my son that opened at 7:30, so that I could drop him off before work, but I am disappointed that that was a lie. On a more positive note, my son loved the camp and all the counselors. He always came home with at smile on his face and was excited to go back the next day. Unfortunately, the lack of punctuality was a deal breaker for me. read more

I would give OMA more than 5 stars if I could! It's a family operated business that treats everyone like family. My daughter has been part of it since they opened a year ago & my son just started a few weeks ago. Unlike other activities where I have to drag my kids to .. I have to drag them out of here since they never want to leave. I love how they focus on life skills & Im awed by how much of it the kids actually pick up & use. I'm looking forward to trying their kickboxing class which looks amazing & they provide free childcare to make it convenient. They have monthly parent survival nights where you could drop of the kids for 4 hours of free activities & dinner while you go out to do whatever you want kid free!!! They also throw parties for every holiday free to the community....I love how Professor Belisso & the OMA family always gives back to the community through numerous ways. Also if you want a hassle free birthday party for your kid this is the place. It will be fully decorated in your choice of theme & plenty of activities for the kids with great staff so you will be able to enjoy your time.
