I've been here once before, but this visit was truly disappointing. The lack of service made the experience extremely frustrating. When we first arrived, the hostess stayed on her phone for quite a while before acknowledging us and simply told us to sit wherever. After being seated, one of the waitresses stopped by only once to ask where the rest of our party was. Once they arrived, we were not served at all during the entire hour we sat at the table. We eventually had to go to the bar just to get drinks, and the bartender was the only friendly and attentive person we encountered the whole night. We also tried to play pool. We got dollars from the bartender and went to a table, but a very intoxicated woman claimed the table was "hers," even though she had not paid and was waiting for someone else to give her money for it. No staff stepped in to manage the situation. After one drink, we decided it was best to leave. Unfortunately, the lack of service and overall atmosphere made this a very poor experience. read more

Went on a Tuesday and they had trivia, first time playing and it was a lot of fun. The vibe is trendy without being pretentious, with great music, cool decor, and pool tables for a laid-back adult night out. Food was decent. My fried chicken sandwich was well-cooked but a little salty. My husband's mango habanero wings weren't spicy, but he still liked them. Drinks were hit or miss. The spicy margarita had heat but no sweetness (not my favorite), and the espresso martini leaned more bitter than balanced. I also got a chocolate martini that was good. My hubby ordered a Elijah Craig whisky flight for $24. He liked the opportunity to explore different whiskeys. The service was good considering homeboy was tending the bar AND running around being the waiter for every table (he was the only waiter/bartender). He held it down! I hadn't been here in years esp not since it changed names; it is nice and colorful inside with modern painting. They have a nice outside area decorated for Christmas with tree and lights. They also have a few games like large table checker board which we played several games. We came out early so there were very few people here but I know it gets busy later. The Mandarin part of Jacksonville is not known for it's nightlife, so this bar is much needed around here. The highlights: 1) must be 21 to enter 2) they often have live music 3) pool tables, bar seating, and a dining room, plus large covered patio 4) i really loved my shrimp 308 appetizer - smothered in garlic & cooked perfectly 5) reasonable prices Didnt love my cocktails (an old fashioned, and some fruity martini), but was served promptly and the prices were average. Great place for a Saturday night! My husband and I came here for a date night. We got here early when it wasn't crowded. We had a few drinks and played pool ($2 cash per game). Then we sat at the bar and had some burgers. We ordered the Henri Matisse and its bourbon bacon jam. It was delicious! We ordered it medium rare and it came medium. Still really good! We also order the Salvador Dali. It wasn't as good, but still enjoyed it. The muse chips were delicious! It's a great joint to hang out at. Just know they fry the French fries in the same oil as the shrimp, so if you're allergic to shellfish let them know. The French fries do have a little bit of a of shrimp taste. read more

Tried something new! Not much of a bourbon drinker but we wanted to try something different. The atmosphere was really cool. They had a bunch of different art work on the wall that really added to the ambiance. The bar was full and had a great selection of alcohol. We are actually regulars at this bar but on this occasion encountered Chelsea. It was 6pm on a Wednesday and my husband ordered an old fashioned and I ordered a white wine. As soon as my wine was poured (4oz, much less than 1/2 the the glass) we knew we were one and done. We asked for our check. My wine was $12. Asked our server, Asked Chelsea, why my wine was so expensive as we were there for Happy Hour and she said "YOU DIDN'T ASK FOR HAPPY HOUR pricing". Fun atmosphere- loud environment when the band is playing but assuming if you come here that's what you're looking for! The band playing is called Jason Evan's Band (aka J.E.B) and we loved their sound! I had a Strawberry Cosmo and the BF had a beer. The pork belly was great according to my boyfriend and I LOVED their FRENCH Dip with delicious Au Jus... with FRENCH fries. Do I want more? Ouí Ouí!!! Nice, friendly location, the bartender remembered my family from the night before, we got there right before 8:30pm and there was a band playing that night and it started getting busy. They have 2 pool tables, a dart machine. Did get noches( not pictured sorry), the only thing was that they had ran out of sour cream and pico de gallo. I had a very unpleasant experience on July 5th. I asked a waitress someone we had seen on previous visits for a glass of water, and her reaction was rude and aggressive: she pushed me and yelled at me using vulgar language. Then, a security staff member physically assaulted my partner, who wasn't even involved in the situation. We've never been treated like this before. This level of disrespect is unacceptable. I hope management takes action and properly trains their staff. read more

When my friend said let's go to The Muse I couldn't drive fast enough. I had been waiting so long to make a pit stop here as I hear their whiskey selection is above the grade. The whimsicalness starts on the outside with Colorful renderings. As you enter there is a lot to explore in artworks on the walls and in the furnishings. The entrances to the restrooms are fun and a real though out addition. I came for a smoked old fashion and that is what I ordered. I could smell it before it was placed before me. Really cool atmosphere. We drove from the South Georgia coast to hear the awesome band Dharma. The food was great, the drinks were great. But the temperature was freezing! They moved our table over some but that just shifted the constant stream of icy air from one side of the table to the other. Other tables were complaining about the temperature too. The waitress said the manager told her to wear a sweater. He did say he would adjust the temp a little and when the icy flow stopped it started to feel ok. I hate I never made it to this location when it was Cheer's; from all the stories I've heard. But the remodel into The Muse looks amazing; they have done a great job remodeling. If you like a good bourbon drink then The Muse is the place to go. They also have other liquors and a very limited beer selection on tap. I have to say they need a better selection of craft beer. They also have a good menu selection of food; I tried the blue cheese chips which were very good. Service here was mixed; the first bartender was nice, but very slow. We went there for the first time on Monday. This used to be Cheers and you can hardly tell now. Nice place, well decorated, big stage, and nightly events. The food was fine and they had most bourbons on the menu available. The major turn off for me was something I have never seen before we were charged an almost 5% fee for using a card instead of cash. This is extremely grimy considering there's absolutely no signage posted or notices printed on the menu, nor did any of the staff happen to mention it. When I questioned the bar staff about this charge and why it was added all I got was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I understand charging two different prices based on payment method like this at some far flung gas station out in the country but not from an "upscale" Resturant/Bar. The worst part is I doubt many people notice it, this is completely usury and violates card processing rules, fees imposed cannot exceed 4% and there must be signage and notices posted. Fair warning for those of you smart enough to check Yelp first, Since clearly the owners and staff didn't want to warn you themselves. read more

What a change! My first reaction was the renovations, redecorating, and set changes from when it was Cheers. But the second thing I noticed was that it doesn't smell like smoke or even had a linger of it which I was surprised and grateful! We sat at a high top two seater. The place was busy and the band was setting up to play at 9pm. Our waitress was SO friendly. The drink orders were a bit slow but we were in no rush. I tried the Orange Blossom as I wanted to try SOMETHING bourbon at the bourbon bar. This was the perfect choice if you're not a bourbon drinker and prefer something sweet. We then played pool which will take up to $10 bills. We didn't order any food, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing. We will probably go back as long as we're not on a budget. Went to this location for the first time in 12 years. Last time it was Cheers and they allowed smoking indoors. It was horrible on so many levels. Now... Muse? 180 degrees the opposite. I barely recognized anything other than the parking lot. VERY nicely done! Service was slow BUT that's true everywhere these days and honestly the place was PACKED with excellent live music. Wish I could remember the bouncer at the doors name. Think it was Roger? That doesn't sound right though. Fairly large fella. Goatee/beard. Brown hair. Anyway, VERY welcoming, even gave a brief history of the place, the artwork, etc. Impressive fella for sure so good hire there owners. We come here often and is our go to for Outing. The bourbon selections are amazing and they will smoke them for you and get real fancy. They are trying to distance themselves from the former tenant in the building by saying no patches no colors and no work clothes on the front door. I meant to take a picture of that. The four stars is strictly for the customer service. Food review is a different story. Once we arrived, the bartender right away took our order due to the kitchen almost closing. My wife and I, along with my niece and her boyfriend, stopped in to check the place out. When we arrived we were greeted with a very full parking lot, which we thought could cause overcrowding; this wasn't the case and the bar was at a healthy capacity but not crowded. Once we entered the bar we found there was a live band. I like live bands and this band was decent, however they were way to loud for the size of the establishment. I do give them credit, normally when the band is to loud they are also over modulated and sound muffled, but they did not. We only had one drink each. We had tried to find a space outside, but it was the smoking section and the smell was lingering so we didn't even sit down. We found an available table, however it was positioned right in front of the band. I think the location is good and I thought the bar, pool tables, and layout was great. I expect I will try again in the future, especially since I'm moving closer to them and this could become a regular haunt. read more
