3 taco lunch special Beef taco, fish taco and skirt steak taco
    Jay J.

It's ok, I was excited to try this place. I got seated right away, and they brought out my chips and salsa within minutes. My waitress was very attentive. I ordered the 3-taco lunch special. But I should have given my taco's some thought. I got 1 fish (I should have gotten this in a soft shell) the 904 taco and the one night, with ground beef. The chips, I felt like they came right out of the oil, freshly fried. The taco shells, I think they came out of a box or bag! Now that that's out of the way! I'm not on the West Coast! The fish on the fish taco was good, but I felt like I just wanted some tartar sauce and some fries. It wasn't a good fit for the taco to me. and again, I put it on the wrong tortilla. The skirt steak taco, the meat wasn't very tender, and not much flavor. The only sauce I had was the salsa, so that helped out this taco and the ground beef taco as well. Now, I was really surprised, the ground beef taco (one night taco) stole the show. It was seasoned well, and it was just good! I just wish the taco shells were better. This is a good hang out spot, they offer 2 for 1 drinks YESSSSS! [[HIGHLIGHT]]So a great spot to hang out with friends and family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't get to enjoy that part! But I think I will check it out one of these days.

I decided to go here for lunch yesterday, being that I was in this area. This was my first time at this location. I have been to the one on the Southside and San José area as well. Parking was good this day, because I managed to find an available parking space upon arrival. The service was good today, and the food item looked very good as well. I decided to order their birria tacos. I had birria tacos in the past and loved them. That birria tacos meat was very good and flavorful as well. The outside was nicely grilled as well. They serve theirs with a generous bowl serving of birria meat juice sauce. That dipping was sauce was excellent and flavorful as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the ambiance within this restaurant because they have random paintings of masked wrestlers on their walls, which, masked wrestlers are popular in Mexico.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely return here whenever I am within this area.

Churri Taco excellent added some salsa - needed pickled onions to take it over the top

So pulling up to this building you would not think it's great ... but let me tell you those 4.99 tacos was everything. The service was amazing and fast and [[HIGHLIGHT]]there is a wrestling theme kind of weird and could use some updating but was super clean. Rest rooms were immaculate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had a 2 for 1 margarita and. It was perfect! I had the Baja fish taco and the churri taco after eating those two I order a second fish taco. My friend had the Caribbean taco and the spicy fish taco the salsa was great on the table... if you are within 10 miles of this place go it was amazing!! I will be back

First and not the last. From service to food and taste? Was one of the better chain Mexican restaurants I have eaten in. I even looked over some reviews and like many restaurants it all depends on who is in the kitchen or serving. I read some of the reviews after eating and some of the comments did not match my lunch experience. With that said, I will come back later to see if they are consistent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If you're a wrestling fan, lots of eye candy for you! Delicious Spicy Senorita (marg)! I picked the tacos lunch special! My choices were tasty! The server is sweet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the music![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great prices and specials!

The tacos were just ok, service was descent but the drinks were nice and strong. Did not seem authentic when it came to the tacos, the salsa and the water was disgusting because out here in Florida you can tell the difference with filtered and this tasted like the swamp. But because the name of the restaurant, low key kind of knew deep down it wasn't going to be top notch. Will I ever come back? For the drinks yes! The food, depends how intoxicated I am I guess. The water??? Heck no!!!

The food is always good but the service was awful today. The server literally told me that she went home while we sat on her section without a server. She said it matter of fact without concern. In the future she should stay home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    My bland dinner

At first I'wondered if I had Covid. The food had absolutely little if any taste. But then I realized I could taste the uninteresting salsa they served with chips. I could taste my margarita. No, it must be the bland and tasteless food served at this restaurant. I ordered the trio: one taco, one enchilada and one burrito. All with the ground beef. All with no taste. The refried beans tasted a little like beans. Not sure they know how to use salt. The rice was equally as bad to say the least. The enchilada was a greasy corn tortilla filled with just ground beef. No cheese, no sauce. The burrito was a flour tortilla wrapped around the same bland ground beef. No cheese, no sauce. No other filling for either of them. The taco should have been excellent but once again...same ground beef, a little lettuce and some tomato. No cheese. I guess cheese comes at a premium. The service was great. Polite, responsive and watchful. Too bad I can't say the food met the standard of the service. Service 5 stars. Food....no stars. Must be why there are so many gringos...

I feel like I got all that for a steal!! And yes I left a tip even though it was to go.

To start.. The costumer service was A+++!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside was so clean and welcoming. Really nice hand painted art everywhere and the restrooms were very clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (The ladies restroom, I didn't check the men's) My order was... ( takeout ) Mini Barbacoa tacos, came with 4 corn tacos w/pickled red onion & cilantro. and all extra toppings on the side. Red and green taco hot sauces, and a cup of the dripping sauce. These taco were absolutely delicious! Not soggy and falling apart. Meat so tender and flavorful! I also had Spanish rice- perfectly seasoned and cooked. And the Caribbean taco- Carnitas w/pickled red onion, plantain and their homemade chipotle sauce. This one HIT THE SPOT for me! Pork was tender and the plantain added the perfect amount of sweetness combined with the creamy chipotle sauce. Don't forget the complimentary chips and salsa. Although I prefer my salsa more chunky, it was still delicious.. I'll definitely be returning and spreading the word!! And a BIG SHOUT OUT to the staff- CRHIS & ELUVIA!! I'm very picky about fat on my tacos and Crhis went and spoke to the chef and put it on the service ticket-no fat. lol They really went over and above. -Thanks and I'll be back

We stopped here while runnings errands for a quick lunch. We were the first customers of the day when they opened at 11. The place stayed pretty dead while we were there, and it was a Saturday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside decor is not everybody's cup of tea, certainly not mine, but we wanted to try this place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks were great! I ordered queso for an appy even though they provided complimentary chips and salsa. Both dips tasted good, though the queso was slightly more on the liquidy side. The burrito bowl was ok. Just a little basic. My husband shared that the steak could have been cooked in less time- in meaning that he likes it rare, there was a lot of filler in that meal. My sriracha shrimp taco was out of this world! The batter was perfection, the flavor was fantastic! When you bite into it, the shrimp breaks away perfectly without awkwardly pulling the whole tail out. I was pretty happy with everything I ordered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Another note is the place had a sticky feel to it. By sticky I mean the floors are literally sticky and try to keep your shoes when walking. The table tops weren't that much better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Next time we may just order takeout.

My brother in law and his wife took my husband and I here tonight for dinner. We are from out of town and don't have this restaurant where we are from so we were excited to try it. This place is VERY casual and relaxed. They serve alcohol, which surprised me based on my first impression, but they gave a very expansive drink menu! We were given chips and quest upon arrival, which was great. I had the Baja fish tacos and my husband had the surf and turf tacos. We were both very pleased. The portions were average, but the flavors were on point. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, and professional. If you like Mexican food you should check this place out!

    Charlene W.

It was my first time having fish tacos and they were delicious! They didn't overload it with sauce, I could taste the fish and it was seasoned perfectly. The restaurant was cool with a bar so of course i ordered A margarita. When the server said house margaritas were 241 my friend said she'd be willing to drink the other so it was perfect! Did I mention our server was on point, she was on point! There were about 10 in our group and everyone loved their entree, i liked the way mine was served on a tray rather than a plate. The food was delivered timely and the drinks weren't watered down, that's a deal breaker for me. It was the perfect dining option before heading to karaoke.

Great service. Amazing chips and salsa (being from Texas we've had a real hard time with salsa on the east coast). Chimichanga was average.

I was shocked by the wait only being at 5 minutes for 3. Yay I love that! Before we start let me sip my margarita. I had the iced peach margarita and my husband had the frozen watermelon margarita. Now the ambiance was very nice! Very colorful and bright nice paintings on the wall. People were doing karaoke the music was going and the DJ was good! I was dancing at my table and eating and having a grand ole time! We had a great server name Gus that was extremely nice and patient with us as we were deciding on what we wanted. We started off with chips and salsa and normally I'm not a big fan of salsa with chunky veggies in it but surprisingly it was good. To order my son had the kids soft chicken taco with rice and beans. My Husband was BIG HUNGRY! He had a carne asada taco salad that looked extra yummy. He also had 4 Mexican street tacos 2 of them were carne asada and the other 2 were Al pastor. Now for me.....the review you all have been waiting for lol. I had the queso-birria tacos with the consomé and rice and beans. The rice and beans were chefs kiss. The meat was good and juicy however the flavor was lacking there and with the consomé I was highly disappointed. Besides my food being underwhelming the vibes were high today at the restaurant and the service was excellent. If I'm up for it I'll give their tacos a try in the future.

I don't go to the mall often, and when I do, I definitely don't make a day of it. I go, I get what I need, then leave. However, no trip to the mall would be complete without a good face stuffing at the food court. Now, there are two types of eateries available. The kind that have everything readily made and situated in trays behind a glass display, where freshness can be a crapshoot ( I tend to avoid these), and those that prepare foods made to order. Thankfully, El Taco Mex is of the latter variety. They've been a food court resident since December 2018, and their menu is as appetizing as the fragrance of sizzling meats cooking up on the griddle. Eager to put El Taco Mex to the test, I ordered 2 things. The Asada (steak) Taco and the Sope Al Carbon (pork). A Sope is fashioned like a tostada, but the corn shell is thicker and pliable enough for a fork and knife. The menu describes this as "small," but in actuality, it was rather generous in size, especially piled with fresh cut veggies and sour cream. In both the taco and the sope, the meats were well seasoned, caramelized, and seared to perfection. Bottles of green (verde) sauce and red hot sauce are provided, should you want some. Devouring this meal as if it would be my last, I couldn't help but look over at Moe's, giggle, and shake my head. They could learn a thing or 20 from El Taco Mex. No, it's not a chain or a food court heavy hitter, and yes we've seen countless eateries try to stay afloat and fail miserably throughout the years. I'm TELLING you this is the real deal. The proud owner/manager behind the counter gave me free samples of both the Horchata and Jamaica drinks and honestly I could drink either by the gallon, they were so refreshing. That food court experience in itself....was refreshing. GO HERE. EAT HERE. Show them some love, because they're authentic and they deserve to STAY. Thank you for reading, support your local eats and businesses, and as always...SYOY!

Whoaaaa. This was a surprise. I do not expect a legit Mexican food joint in the middle of the mall…read more The sad part is I saw more people in line for Taco Bell and Moe's than this place. Nothing against those restaurants but I will never pass up local, authentic ethnic food if the food is comparable in pricing. I have been watching a lot of Mikey Chen on YouTube (simply dumpling) and he is on a Mexico food trip. After seeing him wolf down, I decided I had to get some Mexican food. This place had so few reviews but I figured why not. They have pretty simple meat options. No lengua or any fancy meats. Just the original tasty stuff. Pastor, asada, Pollo, chorizo. For me that's all you need. The asada, Pollo, and chorizo were all flavored to perfection. They had great strong, rich meaty flavor. My only complaint is that there was not enough meat! They had great buns for the torta and it was crisp and had a perfect softness at the same time. The pastor and the toppings just matched perfectly. Loved their sour cream too which really brought it all together. The nachos are probably worth passing on unless you really love them. They were relatively cheesy and meaty as a good nacho should be but not anything to write home about. If you like the nacho cheese you will have to ask for that extra. Lastly the burrito, excellent seasoned chicken but a little dry. Again the sour cream really helped bring it all together with the veggies. I am going to have to figure out what brand they use. I hesitate to call this my favorite Mexican place in the area. Time will tell. The pricing is relatively competitive and service was great.. For now I will still go to el Castillo first, but this place may actually be right behind it. Next time gotta try all their tacos and more!

Having said that - they should have been MUCH better prepared for a crowd. And they were not, not at all. We were seated rather quickly as we had called ahead, and even thought she said we weren't on the list, they had a table for 7 on the patio. There was a DJ, and it was so loud that you literally had to shout to be heard, and even then, it was difficult because everyone around you was also shouting. The server came in spurts. Took a couple drink orders, and then got called away, came back, took a couple more, same thing called away. One person from our table finally went and got all of our drink orders delivered. I decided to try a taco platter. You got 3 tacos, with rice & beans. Your choice of taco fillings. I went with carnitas, steak and shrimp, and fish with pineapple. Spanish rice and refried beans. The tacos were okay. The shells were so soggy that they fell apart the first time you tried to pick them up. The fish was cooked well, and the carnitas were tasty. I had asked for NO cilantro, and it was covered, so they brought it back and it was obvious someone had just brushed some off the top. No bueno - should have been redone. The rice and beans were not good. No flavor, beans tasted metallic. No one at the table liked them. The major issue was, 2 of us got our food, then 1 more, than 2 more, and then nothing. 2 people, without food, and no servers around. The rest of us were actually finished with our meal. One person got up to say just bring us the check, we'll go without food, and they insisted they stay. Food came out - wrong food. Finally they were served, but said the food was cold. Not saying they should have, but they did not offer to remake or to refund. Again - not good customer service. Will I try it again? maybe? Just was an overall unpleasant visit.
