If you're reading through reviews debating whether or not you should do it - DO IT. Sign up. I'm telling you you won't regret it and you will be so proud of yourself after and in awe of the beauty in sharks. I was you - 5 years ago I was like hmm should I? Sharks seem scary, but the adrenaline and excitement led me to push purchase + and I made sure to add the professional photography session. This specific experience is what catapulted me into my passion that has become marine life conservation and just the ocean in general. For people with anxiety - READ THIS STEP BY STEP WHAT HAPPENS ON THIS TOUR: First things first - take motion sickness meds night before and morning of the dive. You'll get to the harbor and they'll have you sign a waiver and then welcome you onto the boat. You'll take your shoes off and get on to the boat where they typically split it by people who got the photography package on one side, and the GoPro users on the other side. It's only about 4 divers to each safety diver - small groups are better! Once you're on the boat they will give you a presentation on what you'll see and what role the sharks play in the ecosystem. Then they prepare you for the water on the ride over where if you're lucky, you'll see some spinner dolphins on the way! The boat ride is about 15 minutes each way. Once you get out to the diving spot, you'll gear up and start getting in the water. There is a rope alongside the boat that you hold on to while you look out at the sharks. One by one the safety diver will ask if you are comfortable doing a little individual dive for a better look. If you are interested, they count you down 3..2..1 and then guide you to the right spot. If you don't want to go - no worries, just hold the rope and enjoy the view! You're in the water for about 40 minutes and then you get back on the boat. They tell you some more conservation facts and before you know it you're back in the harbor in awe that you just swam with real sharks in the open ocean!! I have now done this dive about 6 or 7 times - it is my favorite activity especially as the seasons change, different animals come to visit. You can do fun things, even if you're scared. The crew at One Ocean is top notch and will not only tell you you're safe - but will make you feel it. Big thanks to Captain Liko, Gina, and Kaitlyn for always showing me a great time!

Curiosity or Fear of Sharks? Take the first step to explore that curiosity and be free of that fear! Be part of a cage free dive with an OneOcean safety diver today!!! In 2020 | never in a million years thought ld be able to swim (without being in a cage) with sharks. I had a polarizing fear of all sharks since going to see JAWS 2 at only 8 years old. Unfortunately, this deeply impacted my life and relationship with the ocean. BUT, thank goodness for me discovering Ocean Ramsey, her amazing safety divers, boat captains, crew and her educational pelagic shark free dive programs! IRRATIONAL FEAR NO MORE!!! It has changed my life in more than one way. Now having an educated respect of these amazing animals that has replaced that fear! I am able to love the ocean, snorkeling, free diving, and even scuba diving, without the constant sense of panic I exorcise experienced my whole life. I have learned to be aware of my surroundings in the deep sea, and even when wading in shallow water. I know there are sharks everywhere and I am in their home, and I treat it as such. Maybe I'll see you on a dive sometime. I'm kind of addicted now, lol. Since December 2020, I have now swam freely once with TIGER sharks (yes, Tiger!), and done 3 dives with more than 50 Galapagos and Sandbar Sharks. And, I'm about to embark on my 5th dive later this month!!! I advocate for sharks, I love sharks and I love to share my experience with everyone! Especially, the importance of respecting and appreciating sharks, and I highly recommend everyone to get educated. Sharks are a crucial part of our eco system. And, the ocean and world we live in needs and benefits from the shark population flourishing forever! #ILoveSharks

The crew and entire experience was great. I can't say enough good things about them. There were lots of sharks and a barracuda named Kevin. There was a guest on the boat that had been 8 times and he said it's always different. So I will come back if I'm ever in the area again. A couple of the customers were scared to get in the water when they saw the sharks from above but the crew helped them. The crew educated the guests, made them feel safe and they went in. You should take meds if you are prone to motion sickness. The waves were choppy the day my son and I went but it went well. Definitely bring a GoPro with a reddish lens.

Let me start by saying this was truly one of the best moments of life. Being educated about sharks and so in nature with them, there's nothing like it. The dive staff was so dope shout out to Gina. Very fun and good laughs the whole time. I felt COMPLETELY SAFE. they know their stuff and even though they take safety seriously they don't make it a blah time. The only thing that would make me give it a 4.75 stars is the photo package pricing. As much as I would have loved it I just thought it was weird the photos cost more than the tour itself. Otherwise go with them over any other shark company you wont regret it.

We were a little bit nervous to go, but I'm so glad we did! A few of the sharks came up to the surface and it was super fun! We got ample time in the water, and the guides made us feel totally at ease! a must do! Thanks to Gina and faith and Matt! :)

Everything about this experience was amazing, the education on sharks we received to actually getting in the water with the sharks. I felt totally safe with our safety diver Hayley, the photo package is worth it to have keepsakes for memories. I was expecting the sharks to be a little closer (there was hundreds of sharks way below us but only a few come up to check us out) All in all 100% worth it, we will be booking with one ocean every time we visit O'ahu in the future, every dive is different and I can't wait to be back in the open water with the beautiful sharks again. What time of year & surf conditions are the best for the dive? Do larger sharks tend to stay away in the winter months when north-facing beaches experience higher surf?

Aloha Dylan, we see sharks year round. However we typically see more tiger sharks in the summer months when the water is warmer. I hope this helps! Mahalo 🦈🤙🏽

Which time is the best for seeing shark?

You're pretty much guaranteed to see sharks. You might get lucky and see a special shark like a tiger or even bigger early in the morning is what they told us. But it fluctuates so frequently.

Looking to book. When is the best time of the time to go to get a good amount of shark sitings? Also, coming the beginning of March. What is typical weather?…

Aloha we usually recommend our morning tours because the wind tends to be lighter. Weather is variable and I am not entirely sure what it will be like at the beginning of March, but typically we will have at least a few nice and sunny days.

    Best time to dive?

When my husband and I went, they recommended the early morning charter. They said the sharks are more active then and usually more. :)

I'm interested in seeing sharks. Is it scuba diving or snorkeling?

It's snorkeling, all equipment is provided on the boat. It's an amazing experience!

Not only are the prices reasonable, but the service is great too. They made sure we had everything we needed for our kayaking adventure. We didn't need instruction as we're experienced, but it was nice to know that it was offered if needed. They also rent SUP's. The actual Surf N Sea store has SO MUCH stuff...clothes, swimwear, flip flops, and more. They even sell water and sodas. Plus, they have a bathroom. Not sure if it's for everyone, but they offered it to us she once we were going to kayak. The service in here is great too! If you're looking to do any water activities and don't have the gear, this is a great spot on the North Shore. I mostly come here to shop, they have all the best surf / beach brands. Which is great since most surf brands have closed down their physical locations. They have racks on racks of awesome swimsuits and clothes. I love looking through all of their surf competition shirts. I think the last time we bought a surf comp shirt we even got the matching poster for free! I also bought my short fins here and was able to find a really cute pair. The service here was super nice and helpful when looking for a pair of fins. Now I'm in the market for longer freediving fins and this is the spot I'm gonna check out the next time I'm in Haleiwa.

Other than that, it was super awesome. Only 6 of us went out so it was a nice small group. The photographer was great (see photographs - cost extra for the photos), the gal who took us out was very directive and could read the sharks body vibe so she knew how to guide us. We arrived a little more than 30 minutes prior to our charter time, unfortunately the captain missed us at check in and we joined a later charter which worked out really well for us. Captain Ken was our boat captain and he was very kind & knowledgeable, he provided us alot of information prior to us taking off and while we were out on the water. He also had floating camera handles he allowed us to use - thanks Ken - we didn't even think about this. The First Mate & crew on our charter were great and very informative. It was whale season in Hawaii while we were there so we were able to see sprays from the whales on the trip out to the shark encounter area. We were able to see whales breaching the water in the distance, we also saw alot of sharks. The charter takes us 3 miles off shore & then hooks up to the shark cages that are tethered out in the open water while charters go to and from. It is about a 20 minute boat ride out to the shark cages & 20 minutes back. Each group gets so spend roughly 20 minutes in the shark cage, getting up close and personal with these majestic creatures. Captain Ken took some video footage from a pole camera and we were able to be in the background in the cage, the video provided by the captain was clear and a great perspective. I am so glad that we added this to our trip because this was hands down one of the coolest experiences of my life! I would definitely do this again, on our next trip to Hawaii.

No big deal, but we wish they could have at least told us since we had to show up 30 minutes early, we were standing around for almost an hour with no real communication about them being late. Because they were late to pick us up, they seemed a little rushed, telling us we needed to make sure we were quick and rushing us into the water. I get that they were behind but it wasn't our fault. The water was very, very rough. Which is not the boat's fault either, but just a warning to others. I have heard sometimes it's super calm so I am sure it's likely time of year, but when we went it was bad. Almost every single person got seasick. Also, when you go in the cage, it's almost worse for the seasickness. You are getting tossed around badly inside that thing. We actually had to hold on pretty hard. We were given some cool facts about the sharks and the waters, but it was like 5 minutes worth. We wish they would have talked with us a little bit more. Also, they were very thorough with instructions regarding safety of the cage, which is great. They gave no instructions about the mask and snorkel. I guess they just assumed everyone understood, but we had one guy get in the water and asked how to use the snorkel. I guess overall, when compared to other boat tours we had went on in Hawai'i, this one just doesn't compare. They provide no drinks or snacks (which again is okay, but for the same cost on another boat we were given them). Seeing the sharks was super cool; I just don't know if it was worth it.
