The menu changes to accommodate fresh seasonal ingredients, and the options are always interesting and delicious. The staff is friendly and the small, homelike feel is so comfortable. Tried this place for a second time. It was nice a charm. I had the Turkey Ruben. A lot of bread with not much Turkey and a lot of Thousand Island dressing. I ordered the French Fries and the were almost raw. Last time I was here they were way over cooked. Which means there consistency is lacking. My wife ordered the Blueberry Pancakes which comes with a side order. She ordered scramble eggs which were under cook. The pancakes it self were OK. If in Redmond you have to stop for breakfast or for lunch. It's my second time eating here and it was good. I had soup ( chicken tortilla soup) home made(!!!) and a BLT A on rosemary sourdough bread. I don't know what they do but damn! It's really good and flavorful. One of the things I like is the lettuce and tomatoes are fresh ( still crispy) and bacon is thick, French fries are well made, coffee, it's old school but has a really good taste. Not sure what their reasoning is but I just called for a 'to go' order and was told they're not doing it because of summer hours. Summer hours?! COVID precautions aside, I wanted to eat my breakfast at home today. Why on earth would you turn away a 'to go' order customer? ... it's easy money for your profit margins; no one takes up seating on a busy Sunday morning but it's still money in your pocket. And most people still tip on 'to go' orders. No brainer. I'm visiting my father who lives here in Redmond and I love to patronize local businesses when I visit. I truly love this place. So homey, so friendly and welcoming. The great outdoor space means I can bring my dog to breakfast. The food, while adequate, could be better. Little things like buttering the toast instead of giving out sparse foil packets would be a welcomed touch. Not overcooking the eggs. Cooking the root vegetables for the breakfast skillets til they're done (not crunchy). These could be improvements that would delight. Still, I love the service and ambience and will continue to hope the food will get better and time goes by. read more

First visit was today for lunch. Nice experience, AOK all around. AMBIANCE; Nicely remodeled old house with walls painted ochre (main dining room) or garnet (side room) and finishing details that makes one feel at home. We can see how this might be a particularly good spot on a summer's day when one could take advantage of the seating on the lawn in front of the building. We plan to go again on a summer morning and have breakfast to enjoy the setting and the breakfast menu. (Lunch only after 11 on weekdays, we were told, breakfast all day on weekends.) FOOD: See website for menu (we were told today the lunch menu is soon to be updated with a handful of new offerings) for choices that include sandwiches, salads and soup. We had the lunch special sandwich, a pesto BLT and it was tasty. Also, the hazelnut salad had lots and lots of fresh crispy greens. The parmesan crisp bowl at the bottom of the salad was a nice touch. Very good coffee too from local Bend roaster 11R. PRICE POINT: Reasonable prices for good quality and ample portions.. For the sandwich and salad (too big to finish), coffee and tea the total was under $20 before tip. SERVICE: Very, very friendly. Seemed like the lunch crowd - and the place was nearly full at 1:00 - were mostly locals who were also regulars, always a good sign for the restaurant, and the server was just as friendly with we newcomers as with them. ACCESS: We've come to pay more attention to this of late and note restaurant reviewer for the NYTimes, Frank Bruni, did too once a friend of his started to use a wheelchair to dine with him. So, access here is good from parking through the door and into the restaurant, which has the seating all on one floor. There are two bathrooms and while the larger of the two is accessible in every other way, it does not have grab bars but the smaller of the two bathrooms does and is marked with accessibilty symbol. Overall, this might be a destination place for us for breakfast and certainly a good to use option for lunch if we're in Redmond. We'll go back. read more

The ricotta blueberry pancakes are off the charts good, light and fluffy. My sunny side up eggs were cheery and bright. The side of bacon was a bit too crisp, but still great flavor. The coffee however was disappointing, little flavor as I like deep roasted and robust coffee. My wife's omelet was underwhelming and the accompanying potatoes were under cooked. Excellent service and quick to refill the coffee. Overall a good experience and I'd recommend it. read more

This is a cozy, charming restaurant. We were greeted by a very friendly woman as soon as we walked in. This is a tight-knit family business in a building from 1925. It was so hard to choose from all the delicious classics like the Benedict and biscuits and gravy. We had a glorious avocado toast and a veggie omelet with traditional mimosa. Everything tasted great and the service was very attentive. They have a small gravel lot and plenty of street parking. Great last stop before getting back on the road home. read more

A little bit on the disappointing side this last time. : ( A great LOCAL spot to eat. They do serve FANTASTIC food. The service is TERRIBLE! My husband thought it would be nice to have lunch on Mother's Day at a cute quaint cafe. One Street Down was the obvious choice for us. We had frequented this restaurant before and had been very pleased with our experience. We showed up about 11:30 a.m., it was busy- all the outside tables were full, but the inside was a ghost town. There were probably 4 full tables inside. We were a party of 5- me, my husband, and our three girls (15, 7, 4). It was probably a GOOD 10 minutes before anyone talked to us or acknowledged we were there. (Our table was RIGHT NEXT to the front door!) We were told it would be approximately 10 minutes before our order would be taken. Ten minutes later we received our menus and glasses of water. Then approximately 25 minutes later - after having each server in the establishment walk by us MULTIPLE times- the bus boy noticed that we hadn't had our orders taken yet. He apologized and then said he would get a server over to our table pronto. A server finally came over 5 minutes later and took our order. This was after we heard them in the back "discussing" who's responsibility it was. Then is took approximately 15-20 minutes for them to fill the order. They were not being very quick or courteous. We received our food and later found out my husband didn't receive all of his order. This took an additional 10 minutes to prepare and have served to him. By this time we had all finished our meals. The bus boy stopped by our table again and asked how things were and apologized again for the inconvenience. After our experience we most likely will not be returning to this local cafe. If you love Eggs Benedict like I do, then this place is a must. Not only do they do then well, but every day it's a different "Daily Benedict", to keep it fresh. The variation can be significant, so I haven't always gone that route, but every time I have I've been glad I did. On the one occasion that I deviated, I had a great cinnamon French toast. I've probably been there for breakfast 6 times and never been disappointed. In addition to great food, the facility itself is clean, cozy and eclectic, if a few blocks of the beaten path (hence their name). I was hungry and our hotel did not serve what I'd call breakfast. I wanted to sit down and have fresh eggs and toast. A quick Yelp review, and I found this little place within easy walking distance. Warm, inviting, and homey. I had the eggs Benedict with thick slices of ham, home fries, and a hollandaise sauce made with carmelized onions. And my husband had the Greek scramble, which was loaded with spinach and tomatoes. But let's get back to that hollandaise sauce! This is the stuff dreams are made of. It's hit or miss for us here. Most of the time the food is right on. We have been sorely disappointed before, though. The staff is ok. Sometimes we'll get an attentive, friendly waitress and sometimes we'll get the other one. Order their homemade chai tea. Yum!!! Lots of cheese and bread here. For me I eat vegan so the one option for me was grilled veggies and potatoes. The combo of veggies was good but way too much oil, overkill. I asked for their homemade herbed gluten free bread.
