We were trying to find a brunch spot on the Labor Day weekend Sunday but everything had a long wait. We stumbled onto One Street Down and managed to get seated right away. We got lucky. Our server, Olivia, was as adorable as it gets. Our hearts warmed every time she came to our table. The rest of the staff there is just a delightful. The food was fantastic. Stopped in for breakfast on the recommendation of our Air B&B host. One of the best meals we have had on our 10 day road trip throughout Oregon. I had the Avocado Toast: so good. Fresh, flavorful. Every bite was delicious. Co-pilot ordered a standard breakfast and cleanned his plate. Crispy breakfast potatoes and bacon (seriously why don't all restaurants just crisp the bacon?). I had a serious case of plate envy here. You know, one of those meals where everyone else at your table, and in the restaurant, seems to have a better meal than you. The place is absolutely adorable in a restored older home a few blocks from main street. There is ample seating at tables on the grass in front and to the side which is a great set up when you have little ones that have trouble remaining seated during a meal. Since I no longer have that issue, we ate inside at one of the cozy tables. The service was fine and since we arrived in the afternoon, we had the option of breakfast or lunch items. I chose one of their paninis, The Californian, and the chicken was dry and the overall taste a bit bland. The yogurt Parfait, with home baked granola, and Extreme Greens salad were very good. I have been wanting to go to this place ever since they opened. Some high school friends Kristy and Neal Cross opened this place and I've wanted to check it out ever since. It's a convert old home on Seventh street in Redmond. Oddly, enough when I was in grade school, I lived in the house next door, which is now another business. One street down refers to the fact that it is not on the main drag, however, Seventh Street is becoming largely commercial these days. This place is nice and open feeling, which is hard to do, I think since this is an older home. They have left in items like a built in bookshelf and such which gives it an unusual flair. I order a soda to drink and they put it in a large beer stein. I was impressed it looked like I would have enough to drink for days. I ordered their club house sandwich with home fries. Home fries, very tasty and just enough so as to not get too full. The sandwich came on huge slices of bread and was very tasty. I had remarked on the large glass when it came to me and then when the huge sandwich came my way, I said what are you guys trying to do to me (in a joking way of course) and the waitress said (equally joking) we want to make sure you're not hungry. Well, they succeeded in that, indeed. I got a to go box for half of my sandwich and we were on our way. Nice, quiet, and fun place. I would like to visit in the summer and try the outdoor seating. Author's note: They are closing for remodeling starting on November 13. They do not mention when they will reopen but they indicate that they hope the remodel will go swiftly. An overall solid choice for brunch. I ordered the burrito, and it was HUGE. I had to summon a lot from within to finish every last bite, but it was worth it. This place is fantastic! What a charming spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch. On nice days get there early to snag a table outside. The service is amazing and everyone is super friendly. Mimosas are available for brunch, and wine for lunch. They have a large menu that includes everything from a daily Benedict option to BLTs to salads. I had the Benedict with lemon hollandaise sauce, kale, tomato and ham on sourdough bread. Their flexible with you order, as I asked them to exclude the ham. I had such a great time that I went back for lunch and ordered the Hazelnut salad which comes with fresh spring greens, roasted hazelnuts, dried cranberries, seasonal fruit, feta cheese and a lacy cheese garnish that was so divine, I asked them to bring me a second one. They have a nice selection of wines and I had a lovely Pinot gris from the Willamette Valley. The following day I returned for brunch and had the Asparagus, bacon and goat cheese omelette that was delicious! Great food, friendly service and a charming location. Food is very wimpy and over priced. I had the avocado toast which was strangely scarce of avocado. A few tiny, thin slices hidden under a hand full of salad greens. Blah!! My friend had a Turkey sandwich which consisted of a single slice of Turkey. Coffee was good however and we shared a delicious banana muffin. I won't be back but glad we tried it. The problem was watching four other families go in and be seated immediately after seeing the host after we were told it would take about five minutes. I absolutely loved One Street Down Cafe. As soon as we opened the front door we were greeted by Jason. He had a smile on his face and a great attitude! We decided to sit at a quaint table by the window so we could peek out to Downtown Redmond while we ate our delicious breakfast. We ordered: The seasonal hash The special omelette The asparagus & goat cheese omelette We didn't wait long before our meals arrived at the table. Each dish looked beautiful & everything was cooked as requested. The veggies (in our potatoes/omelet)) were cooked to perfection with a light crisp to them, the potatoes were in bite size cubes, and the eggs were perfect. We also ordered the rosemary toast that had a hint of rosemary that paired well with their jam. Jason's service was great! He kept the atmosphere in the restaurant positive and checked on us very frequently to ensure we were taken care of and our coffee cups were kept full.
