We had been here before COVID and loved the place because they had a fun kids area. We finally made the drive from the metro Detroit area to visit again and were sad to see they had remodeled and no longer had that play area. Luckily, our 4yo did like visiting the pinball area. The beer was good, but the queso dip and chips were just ok. The 4yo liked the vanilla ice cream, but there was nothing else on the menu she would have eaten. From a food standpoint, we had two groups that ordered food at the same time from two different registers. The time between orders being delivered to the table was 20 minutes. Hoping that's a fluke - but be warned you may want to group all of your orders together in one and then work out who owes money to who (or whom?) Service from a seating standpoint was more than I can handle. To be fair, this system may work for some folks, because obviously One Well continues to do plenty of business. There are lots of tables. That's great. But there is zero organization being used to fill those tables. So you're on your own. And by that I mean you get to wander around, trying to decide which group that's about the same size as your group looks most like they're about ready to leave. Then you hover by them. Which seems pretty rude. Good news - someone will likely be doing that to you as you finish your meal, too, so I guess that's some kind of karma. One well seems be on the "hit or miss" nowadays and I don't go back as quite as often because of it. They expanded, with quite a few new things(pinball machines, if you're into that) to do, but just beware it's got a lot more children and toddlers running around, it's got more children running around than a chuck-e-cheeses. So, in my opinion it's not that great of a place to be drinking, but it IS a great place if you want to get hammered and not have to find a babysitter. The food menu has changed quite a bit, and all changes that just sound unappealing to me personally. They have far more vegetarian options now, which I have not cared to try so I cannot judge any of that but if you're into that - maybe it's for you. But, having tried a handful of appetizers, pizzas, and sandwiches - I think their food is all pretty mediocre. Basically, it all feels like really easy to assemble food that you can slap together and just warm it up in a microwave/oven style "cooking", so I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a nice full full meal, but maybe for a heavy snack. Their sandwiches are pretty basic and the pizzas I no longer recommend, as it feels like they changed just about everything about them, and the ingredients are pretty low quality - the "cheese" on them melts and then the cheese hardens pretty quickly... yeah.. it is just a hard-cheese pizza on a pre-made crust. I think the prices aren't that bad, but the proportions and food aren't all that good either. The beer is the biggest hit or miss thing. I know that even back in the day, sometimes you'd get the peanutbutter ale (which I don't think they do anymore) and think you'd be drinking a glass of jiff, and other days you'd think someone accidentally dropped a peanut into your miller light. Now, it's like that but sometimes I get mixes of things in my drink and I have no idea where it's coming from - like occasionally my blueberry cider tastes like they splashed some coffee porter into it (which I know they aren't), but it tastes that way, like they're getting stout into an IPA and it's as good as it sounds - and I'm not sure what's causing all the beer to taste like it's contaminated, but it happens almost every time, something gets mixed in and makes it taste funky (in a bad way). I think One well is still an okay place to drink, but their food is without a doubt the weakest of any gastro-pub/breweries I've been to lately in Michigan, and with questionably good beer, a playground like venue, I'd say it's still worth going to if you don't mind those kinds of things. read more

My friends and clients all told me to check this out, and on the way back home from Jackson, we decided to give it a try. My husband got a couple beers I can't remember the names anymore, but I got the elderberry cinnamon cider and the mango cider. Elderberry cinnamon is definitely a combo I've never had and it was pleasant, but reminded me of fall. The mango was great, not too sweet but refreshing. Food was great. I had a bite or two of my husbands Mac and cheese, which he devoured instantly after that. I chose nachos, and though the portion sizes are generous I ate the whole thing...I just couldn't let go of the crunchy chips and tasty toppings! It's hard to see small town breweries have to be empty because of covid. However, our host was eager to let us know the rules and there is outside seating in case you want to social distance more. We chose inside because it was hot. Ordering is kind of tricky, you use their online site and put in your table number. I eventually got the hang of it, since there are directions at the table. When our son comes to town from Chicago, he and his family frequent One Well. Games for the kids, great eats for his entire family, they are Vegan and Vegetarian. He and his wife purchased us a gift certificate this Christmas. Since my first experience on the first Sunday morning Brunch with my husband and two lunches with my sister later, I absolutely love this place. I am not a micro beer drinker usually, but I am learning (lol). I drink domestic wheat beer usually and was concerned I would not find one her I would enjoy. I believe it is named, The Opener. Super Yummy!! The food is awesome as well. Yummy Vegetarian entrees, I have not had one I did not like. So far my favorite are, Bite Me Fried Cauliflower Bites with either sauce, Smoke Em' if you Pop Em' stuffed Jalapeños, and Go Cluck Yourself sandwich with Vegan Plant Based Chicken. Where do I start? Some of the best beer in Kalamazoo...and that's saying something for all the varieties of beer that you can find in this area! They brew everything they serve. The have some standards (try the Xalapa!) and rotate a lot of seasonal beers. They also carry ciders (that they make) and wine for those who are not as keen to beer. They keep the food menu fresh with weekly specials and seasonal items but have some items that stay on year round. I have stopped into One Well Brewing several times in Kalamazoo when we are visiting family. They have such a great selection of beer and their space is amazing. Their State of Bean beer is hands down one of my favorite coffee beers! It's light and not too heavy on the coffee flavor, but just enough to know it will give you some energy. Their food is limited and should not be the only reason to go here. Where they lack the food they 100% make up for it in the atmosphere of the entire place. They have two large rooms for sitting areas. The place is always packed during the weekends and people usually are there for long periods of time. They have board games, darts, and a huge selection of pinball machines in the back room. You can easily spend several hours here drinking and playing games. Do yourselves a favor and stop in! Mixed bag here. Food and beer are excellent. However, the service was atrocious. We ordered cauliflower bites and a pizza. They came back and asked what sauce we wanted with our wings. I love this place. Plenty of seating inside and out, a menu that includes lots of vegetarian options, excellent beers. The ambiance is fun and playful, with an arcade attached, plenty of games to play at the table, and beer crafted for the most picky drinker. Apparently you can order your food with your phone (which honestly wasn't totally clear), get a beer at the bar and wait for your meal to show up. The food was a mixed bag - my husband loved his tacos. The chicken sandwich I had tasted good, but was kind of odd, with a triple decker of bread (I got the gluten-free bread). Anyway, a fun and unpretentious hangout with great beer. Staff was really sweet to us oldsters, probably the oldest people in the place, which is kind of fun sometimes. I had this place bookmarked and while we were gassin' up the car, we figured it made sense to stop here first. We were hungry and they had food, plus, it was closest to where we were and all the other spots were 15ish minutes north and situated near each other. Oh man. One Well was just what we needed to start this day of brewery hoppin'! I had to laugh when we pulled into a strip mall. I had no clue what to expect and liked their little outdoor space, but was really impressed at how big this place really is. Go in, grab a seat and then you walk your happy ass to the bar to order beer and food. I don't remember how much a flight was, but we were like "daaaang, hella cheap!" There were four of us, and we ordered a few things to share. One queso dip, one pretzel appetizer and one order of nachos later and we were happy and full. You basically do all the work here, minus bringing out the food, but I'm ok with that. There are plenty of games to play. Atmosphere was super chill, even with it starting to get busy. If we hadn't gotten a late start to our day and had more time to spend here, we would have, but One Well is definitely on my list to hit up again next time we're in KZoo. This place is PACKED on the weekends. I came here a few times but I had a difficult time finding what I'd like from their menu. Most meals have pork in them and sandwiches are served with Chip Fries. I tried their brisket sandwich and the plant based chicken burger. They have plenty of board games and things to do like darts and pin ball. He directs you to the counter to place your orders. All of the video games, etc were roped off. Tables were marked off. Traffic was one way only. The bar tender was fantastic. He was patient and let us try several choices before we chose. We then took our drinks and headed for the patio. It was getting fairly warm, but there was plenty of shade, so it was still comfortable. This is my happy place. Day drinking on a patio on a beautiful day with the best company! To start, I ordered a flight. It was only $10 and included 5 beers. The glasses seemed bigger than the normal flight glasses too. But, all the beer was average at best. I didn't finish any one beer because they were all pretty bland. For dinner, I got a salad with smoked pork. A little steep at over $15 for a mediocre salad. It wasn't bad, just wasn't great either. My friends got nachos and thought they were just ok. I tried one and agreed, they definitely looked better than they tasted. Stopped here on the way back from Indiana. Legit hopped on Yelp and found the closest bar near the highway and somehow landed on One Well. I didn't realize till walking in I had tried quite a few of their beers before just never payed much attention to the name but they always have nifty can art! Everyone was super friendly and helpful on how everything works there, also signage outside to guide you on how to order etc. It was lunch time on a Saturday and most people seemed to favor the ac but joined the handful of tables outside and enjoyed the covered patio! The beers hit the spot, can't remember what we got exactly but it was a hazy ipa of sorts. Then we ordered the stoner pie, a whole mismatch of ingredients. How I have lived in Kalamazoo for 4 years and not known about One Well is a tragedy. As someone who loves board games and food, you'd think this would be a favorite. Well I hope to rectify that now. The atmosphere is top notch. The chips and dip were so yummy. It was the right amount of creaminess. I appreciated that the dip stayed on the chip instead of oozing off like most artichoke dips I've had. The ramen was also very good. A little too spicy but I still loved it. Just had to eat much more slowly and drink lots of liquids. Couldn't finish it so asked for to go container. Literally get handed one that could maybe fit a small scoop of ice cream. The waitress looked at me funny when I said I'd probably need more. I had to use 3 of those containers to fit my leftover ramen. Maybe if you're going to serve soup, have properly sized to-go ware? As a dry person, I rate all bars and breweries on their Shirley Temples. No shirleys to be had here :( read more
