Now it's expanded to almost the entire strip mall. The food is always good. The beer is okay for me. I'm a cider lover and enjoy scotch ales and other dark beers. They don't have what I like most nights but I come here for the food. It's a free seating place. It's also very kid friendly so keep that in mind. That is one drawback for me, it's weird to have toys in place where I came to have a few beers . But I'm not much of a kid person. It's also not why I rated it 4 stars as I knew this before coming. They now have numbers at a table and an app to order. This is where my they lost my dad. He likes the traditional experience of ordering from a person, having an interaction with someone is part of the dining experience that he enjoys. I'm indifferent to this. However, as you pay, it asks for a tip and this leaves a conundrum of how much do you tip? The default amount seems high. You have to order drinks at the bar, fetch your own water, the waitstaff is simply bringing your food out and clearing the plates. To-go boxes are also self service as well as napkins, utensils, etc... All and all, I always sat at the bar when it was smaller scale and it was an easy decision cause the bar staff was pretty full service. Made my first visit to One Well on Mother's Day, and I have to say I was very impressed all around. First, the beer: I tried what the bartender described as their most popular... Whoppy IPA, which was light and crisp, definitely could taste the citra hops, all around a solid IPA that's not too heavy at all. Then I went to the Simcoerillo which is their American IPA that was a bit stronger, still not too heavy though and really had a nice piney aroma to it. Finally, I finished off my wife's Xalapa which is a jalapeño beer that they somehow managed to take the spice out of, it's a light blonde ale and was very tasty. For food I had the Cuban sandwich, it was very tasty, the smoked pork was very noticeably smoked which I love, the ham and cheese went perfectly. The homemade chips were solid, and the Buffalo cauliflower to start were tasty as well. My wife doesn't eat meat, so I really liked the menu because it has great classic meat options you might find at any bar/brewery but also vegan/vegetarian options for her. Since then I've moved to town and I come in all the time - they've got a lot of new items on the menu and are always tapping new beers. One of the best spots in town! read more

A large selection of board games and coin operated pinball/video games (80s kids!!) are fed by a genuine coin dispenser- when is the last time you saw one of those? Food & beer can be ordered at a counter, or via QR code at your table. Professor Nutbutter's Case is a peanut ale; try it, it won me over. Almost rioted when we didn't see fries on menu, but the Bite Me Fried Cauliflower is delicious and somewhat healthful replacement. The veggie chili is a great start for veggie curious carnivores. Plenty of meat on menu,too. We did not order it, but Prime Time brisket smelled heavenly. Plenty of parking at its stripmall location. Service was good at the bar and the high top table was good but on a Sunday evening, the place was well packed with kids (or empty because they were setting up for trivia night). Lots of pinball machines and they have change machines to turn your paper money into quarters. I did not have anything to eat here as it's all pizza and sandwiches. They have two fairly separate sides, one side has plenty of eating area close to a wall of pinball games, several arcade style games, darts, and a really nice kids area! The other side also has plenty of seating, set further away from the games and kid area. We love that you can choose either side! One Well also has a bunch of card/board games for anyone who wants to grab and play while you hang out! Such a neat choice, again, for any age to have some fun! The staff is always knowledgeable, friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. All service is bar service so you order anything you'd like at one of several designated bar ordering stations, drinks or food, they assign you a number, and then a runner will bring your food to wherever you are sitting, when it's ready. We have ordered numerous food items from the menu! The pizzas are great! The sandwiches are tasty! We love the nachos!! They are a great shareable snack, or meal for one! This is my boyfriends and I FAVORITE brewery in KZoo. Come for a few drinks, an app and play a few games of darts. I love the rotating drafts as I am from out east and only come to town once a month. Rounding up from a 3.5. One Well holds its own in the saturated south west MI beer market BUT come for the beer, ambience...not the food. The system is like a Panera Bread, where you walk up and order & your food will be brought out to you. Beers will be poured on the spot. For beer, I had a really unique blonde Ale called the State of Bean (Butter Pecan Coffee!). I really like their takes on flavors that are typically reserved for stouts (peanut butter, chocolate, etc) and make a blonde/golden ale out of it. That's so much more my speed than a dark, heavy stout. I also really liked the Professor Nutbutters Golden Ale (Named after a primus song, this golden ale gets its unique flavor because of the lightly roasted malts paired with the flavor of peanut butter. Will cure what ails you, guaranteed, professor nutbutter.) BUT, like the State of Bean just a bit more. For food, I had the really disappointing -- OUT OF THE WOODS Pizza (Mushroom pesto sauce, blend of shiitake, oyster, cremini, portobello and enoki mushrooms, roasted garlic, grape tomato, blend of asiago, parmesan and romano cheeses, fresh basil.) The mushrooms were definitely not a blend of shiitake, oyster, cremini, portobello & enoki. It was just chopped up cremini and/or oyster. The flavors also just weren't there. From a food standpoint, we had two groups that ordered food at the same time from two different registers. The time between orders being delivered to the table was 20 minutes. Hoping that's a fluke - but be warned you may want to group all of your orders together in one and then work out who owes money to who (or whom?) Service from a seating standpoint was more than I can handle. To be fair, this system may work for some folks, because obviously One Well continues to do plenty of business. There are lots of tables. That's great. But there is zero organization being used to fill those tables. So you're on your own. And by that I mean you get to wander around, trying to decide which group that's about the same size as your group looks most like they're about ready to leave. Then you hover by them. Which seems pretty rude. Good news - someone will likely be doing that to you as you finish your meal, too, so I guess that's some kind of karma. We had been here before COVID and loved the place because they had a fun kids area. We finally made the drive from the metro Detroit area to visit again and were sad to see they had remodeled and no longer had that play area. Luckily, our 4yo did like visiting the pinball area. The beer was good, but the queso dip and chips were just ok. The 4yo liked the vanilla ice cream, but there was nothing else on the menu she would have eaten. One well seems be on the "hit or miss" nowadays and I don't go back as quite as often because of it. They expanded, with quite a few new things(pinball machines, if you're into that) to do, but just beware it's got a lot more children and toddlers running around, it's got more children running around than a chuck-e-cheeses. So, in my opinion it's not that great of a place to be drinking, but it IS a great place if you want to get hammered and not have to find a babysitter. The food menu has changed quite a bit, and all changes that just sound unappealing to me personally. They have far more vegetarian options now, which I have not cared to try so I cannot judge any of that but if you're into that - maybe it's for you. But, having tried a handful of appetizers, pizzas, and sandwiches - I think their food is all pretty mediocre. Basically, it all feels like really easy to assemble food that you can slap together and just warm it up in a microwave/oven style "cooking", so I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a nice full full meal, but maybe for a heavy snack. Their sandwiches are pretty basic and the pizzas I no longer recommend, as it feels like they changed just about everything about them, and the ingredients are pretty low quality - the "cheese" on them melts and then the cheese hardens pretty quickly... yeah.. it is just a hard-cheese pizza on a pre-made crust. I think the prices aren't that bad, but the proportions and food aren't all that good either. The beer is the biggest hit or miss thing. I know that even back in the day, sometimes you'd get the peanutbutter ale (which I don't think they do anymore) and think you'd be drinking a glass of jiff, and other days you'd think someone accidentally dropped a peanut into your miller light. Now, it's like that but sometimes I get mixes of things in my drink and I have no idea where it's coming from - like occasionally my blueberry cider tastes like they splashed some coffee porter into it (which I know they aren't), but it tastes that way, like they're getting stout into an IPA and it's as good as it sounds - and I'm not sure what's causing all the beer to taste like it's contaminated, but it happens almost every time, something gets mixed in and makes it taste funky (in a bad way). I think One well is still an okay place to drink, but their food is without a doubt the weakest of any gastro-pub/breweries I've been to lately in Michigan, and with questionably good beer, a playground like venue, I'd say it's still worth going to if you don't mind those kinds of things. read more
