all around for @one80salon, @lesleyccolorist and @jordan_cuts I found my new and forever one stop shop for my curly hair cuts and copper balayage at One80 Salon in Washington, DC.   My colorist, Lesley Carey (@lesleyccolorist) left her old salon, Saint Germain in October 2022 and joined the team at One80 Salon and I shamelessly followed her there because she is the BEST!  I was thrilled that she found a place to continue her amazing career and talents as a first-class colorist and I couldn't wait to schedule my copper balayage appointment with her.   But...there was one thing that was concerning me. I had recently discovered that my wavy and frizz prone hair was actually loose curls and after two previous attempts, I had still not found a stylist who could cut my hair in a way that was not only flattering but functional. I reached out to Lesley, and she recommended Jordan Broussard (@jordan_cuts). She assured me he really understood how to cut curly hair and she knew he was the right fit for me and my hair. I took her advice, and I scheduled my first cut and color appointments with them at One80 Salon, and I was blown away! Jordan is just fantastic, and he took the time to study my curls and the health of my hair and recommended the types of layers and products best suited for my desired results.  He put my mind at ease when he explained that he cuts curly hair while it's wet to get the best overall results.  That was a huge relief to me because I've had dry cuts in the past, when I wore it straighter and again for my first curly cut and I knew that my hair didn't respond well to that cutting technique.  I couldn't be happier with my results!   Lesley knows color!!  And if you're a redhead or have dreams of becoming one, look no further than @lesleyccolorist I now have one salon that is convenient to get to via public transit or street and garage parking and has a team full of compassionate and immensely talented professionals in every field. It's so refreshing to see clients walk into a salon so happy and excited to be there and it's even better when stylists and the staff match that excitement and enthusiasm as well.  What's even better is all those clients walking into the salon are even more ecstatic when they walk out! My girlfriend has been going to Cyrille for several years, and her hair always looks fantastic. She has particularly difficult hair (really thick) and usually has a hard time finding a stylist that can work with her hair. I have challenging hair, too (it's baby-fine but there's lots of it), so when I saw her great Cyrille-cut, I called for an appointment with him almost immediately. I have been to Cyrille a few times (I can't go to him all the time, because the salon's prices are a bit cost-prohibitive for me), but when I can afford it, I do, because the quality of Cyrille's haircuts is hands-over-scissors higher than anyone else I've been to in DC (and I've been to a lot of salons in the mid- to high-price range, including Urban Style Lab, Salon Cielo, and Georgetown Aveda). Cyrille really listens to what his clients want. The first time I went in, I vaguely told him I wanted a "really edgy" look, despite the fact that I am not a particularly "edgy" person, nor do I have a job that would support a "really edgy" haircut. I also said I wanted to keep it long (I've found that stylists love to whack women's hair off). Cyrille asked enough questions to determine my definitions/tolerances of "really edgy" and "long", and I walked out with a haircut that did in fact push my envelope of "edgy" while still keeping me feeling comfortable with the length and layers. The haircut was effortless to style (I am a jump-out-of-the-shower, apply some product, run-a-brush-through-the-wet-hair, and maybe -- maybe -- use the blow dryer for 5 minutes), and my new look earned countless compliments from family, friends, and even some strangers. As a bonus (and as a testament to his excellent skills), the haircut lasted longer than I was used to haircuts lasting. Definitely a five-star stylist and definitely worth the price. read more

SIMONE FENNELL HAS BEEN FOUND!! I had a LOT of trouble trying to locate her to do my brows because she no longer works at Nordstrom's Brow Studio in Pentagon City's mall. I had been coming to her for about a year and am overly excited that I was able to get my brows done last week and I didn't even have to get put on her waiting list!! She has such a pleasing, professional manner. She talks to you about your facial structure and helps you understand your face better so you can make an informed decision. She explains what she is going to do BEFORE she does it. She is thorough and efficient but doesn't religiously do a fast-get-in-get-out in less than 15 minutes. I believe it usually takes about 20-25 minutes to do my brows. Whatever your bone structure and brow require is what she always adheres to. My unusual bone structure has always been a problem so I was a little skeptical because of the butchery by others. But Simone nailed it from the very beginning and gave me a mirror so I could stay comfortable with what she was doing. She is efficient and takes her time to ensure you are relaxed and satisfied with the process. She knows her stuff and I think her being an artist is a big customer plus!. After my brow services with her, I feel comfortable, appreciated as a customer and know I have gotten the type and quality of services I deserve. Parking for the salon is no problem; I was in and out in less than a half an hour; the atmosphere was very pleasant, the décor is nice and contemporary and I felt welcomed as a new customer. Cyrille is a genius with hair and a sweetheart to boot. When I moved to DC from NY three years ago, I was saddest to leave my hairstylist, whom I had been loyal to for five years. He was the kind of guy who just knew what to do with my hair and I trusted his judgment implicitly. I wasn't sure I would find the same relationship here in DC. How wrong I was. After being unsatisfied at Damien in Adams Morgan, I tried One80 after walking by it and visiting the website. I was assured that Cyrille was great, and so I went in for a cut. Amazing. He spends at least an hour on my hair every time. The experience begins with you and Cyrille discussing what you want, and he will tell you honestly if he thinks your idea/desired style works for your face. He offers up some alternatives or modifications, which is great. I often see hairstyles online or in magazines and I bring in photos. Cyrille doesn't just copy the style, he modifies for me, which is fantastic. After the assessment, a wash and (sometimes) a head massage, which I love, and then the cut. His attention to detail is superb, and he often cuts my hair while wet and then blows it dry to assess, and then makes additional cuts while my hair is dry to make sure it falls and lays correctly. He styles it using a minimum of product, and shows me how to style it in different ways. I am always able to replicate it at home without a lot of fuss. For me, the test of a haircut is how it grows out. And I must say, Cyrille's cuts look great until my next appointment. I have gone from shoulder length hair, to a few versions of a bob, to short cropped hair with Cyrille and I have loved each one. read more

I absolutely had to re-yelp. I was deeeeeeeeeeesperate for a lunch hour trim, so I called, and Fred was booked booked booked (could it be because of his recent review in Allure?) and Jordan, my go to second choice, was lunching. I was offered Amy, who happens to be the newest edition to their staff. I hemmed and hawed ...after all, I've cheated sooooo much within the salon! Would Fred EVER take me back??? Amy was really sweet, we had a nice consultation. Fred actually joined in on the chat, which made me super at-ease. I've been growing out my hair for months, and Amy was able to trim away the yucky ends and give it some shape without sacrificing the length. She worked quickly, and I very much appreciated that. She did SUCH a nice job. I have kind of annoying curly/wavy/thick/fine/course problem hair, and she DEFINITELY knew how to work it out. Bonus: It's terrible and raining out today (will spring EVER come???), so they gave me a sweet umbrella. I totally remembered to pre-book for my next appointment (with Fred!), and the girl at the front desk told me I get "points" for prebooking, and apparently also get points for referrals. The points all equal dollars, so I am going to be racking them up! I had promised myself I wouldn't get any products, but because I knoooow I'm going to get lots and lots of points for future use, I let myself get the Phyto 7 (a splurge but it makes my hair SOOOO soft), and the hairspray Amy used, which left my hair not at all sticky and soft and smelling deeeelish. This salon is absolutely amazing. I was nervous about going to a new salon because my hair can be very challenging to work with. My friend recommended one80 salon. I googled the salon and immediately thought " this is not a salon for my type of hair". However my friend convinced me that I would not be disappointed. Man, was she right! Salon: The salon was amazing. Very upscale, chic salon. Everyone was super nice and accommodating. They respected my appointment time, no waiting around. They offered tea, juice or water which was a cute sophisticated touch. Everything from the wash bowls to the styling booths were comfortable and clean. Stylist: Roger, was my stylist. He was absolutely amazing. When we met it was like we knew each other for years lol. He was so friendly and down to earth but super professional at the same time. After one look at my hair, he explained the state it was in, what he planned to do to fix it and assured me that my hair would be growing long and healthy in no time. He is very passionate about hair and extremely skilled. He educated me about my hair in between "girl talk". Lol. I was extremely pleased when he was done. My hair felt amazing. There was no discomfort from the blow dryer or burns from the flat iron. I was thoroughly impressed. Price: Very reasonably priced. Felt like my money was well spent. Hi guys This review is not a real up date I'm still in love with that place. Jordan is simply the best super nice person who does my hair. I would like to mention that I would love to get her forever! she's not just some one who cuts your hair she also keeps your hair in a wonderful shape althougth you would like to let it grow ... The main dish of this update is DERRICK this charming guy from Nashville ( note the southern accent plus a deep tenor voice make you travel to heaven ). Derrick is not yet on the One80 web site but rush your self this guys gonna be booked solid very soon . So what about my hair concerning Derrick . I was a littel moody that day and I was expecting for some excitement so I went to jordan to ''recoiffe ''my mood and when I saw Derrick I asked Jordan about him and she introduced me to him. I asked for some suggestions to brighten I mean enhance the sun job after the summer is over Derrick suggest to do a slight "balayage " toned with a glaze I was super excited and I have to say that the result is wonderful! Working on color for guys is not an easy job the result really need to be slighty noticable to make the difference but not that much to look kind of fake in that case Derrick reach my expectation !!! I dropped into One80 on a whim a few weeks after I moved to Washington three years ago and happened upon my dream salon. And to be honest, I'm probably a nightmare customer, but they are sweet and proficient and good-humored and I just love them all to bits. I'm the girl who forgets to schedule the next appointment and shows up 10 weeks after I meant to get there. And I won't spend more than three minutes fussing with my hair on any given day. Often, I don't even think to brush it. And yet, somehow, Jeremy and Heather's gorgeous color work and Cyrille's magnificent haircuts keep me looking stylish and professional. People actually stop me in the streets to compliment their work. I give no direction. I basically sit down and let them work their magic ... and I'm not sure how to explain it, but I walk away looking just like me every time, even as the color/cut evolve every time. They're intuitive and attentive and manage to capture my personality and originality. I must say I take particular delight in my hour in Cyrille's chair. He approaches every cut as a work of art. It is a pure joy to watch him tuck into a mess of hair and tease out a look that is at once elegant and playful and sophisticated and low-key. He's even managed to unleash natural wave and curl I'd never seen before. I trust this man to stand at my skull and do whatever he wishes with a scissors/razor/blade/clippers. He is ingenious. I am a long time client of One80 Salon and I love them. I receive many many compliments on my hair because of their good work. I have my hair cut by Fred Hawck for YEARS (over a decade) and I absolutely love him. My hair has some wave to it and he knows how to cut it to make it work. He listens to his clients and can decipher what they really mean, and what will work with their hair type. He is amazing. A total professional. I have been seeing Cynthia Santana the past couple years for color and she has done an outstanding job. I am a brunette and she keeps my hair looking like a color found in nature -- not too dark, not too red. The highlights are superb. I'm pretty fussy about my hair color and she always leaves my hair looking great. I strongly recommend her. The whole team at One80 is top notch. I've seen Remi for cuts, and Jeremy and Heather for color at various points over the years -- they are all excellent. You really can't go wrong. My only reservation is that by posting this 5 star review, I will make it harder to get my own appointment times! But these folks deserve every accolade. They have a level of talent and a focus on customer service that can't be matched anywhere - yup, ANYWHERE - in town. read more

Today was my first time at this salon. Was searching for a good salon near my area and in google search it popped up as 5 star salon. I'm usually very skeptical when it comes to my hair.. My hair has crazy texture and it needs special cut. I read all the reviews and made my mind to call them. Receptionist was very polite and patient with me, I asked MANY questions. I made sure they had a person who knew how to cut curly hair and made an appointment. Was so nervous, even arrived 30 minutes before my appointment and was looking around and observing, again, I'm very paranoid abt my hair. Tyler, the lady who cut my hair, is amazingly patient and very cheerful person. She's so positive and has such a bright aura. I told her right away that i trusted her and i was BLOWN AWAY with her work. Such a dedication to her work. You can tell that she loves what she does. She took her time, and she walked me through the process. She gave me amazing tips for my hair care, showed me products i should look into and in general made this whole experience amazing. From the minute I walk through the door I feel like I am the only client in the world! All attention is on the deatils of great service, from Shannon's smiling face to Jeremy's confident color design, Cerylle's blow dry or Remi's brilliant cut! Jordan most recently gave me a great new look and once again, I am so pleased! Even the hair wash and head massage from Lala is to die for!! Brand new to the Washington area, I sent my very "picky" sister & her husband to Cerylle and they love their "new look"! They are both so pleased that they are now referring other friends as well!There is always pleasant and poignant conversation from all parties to keep you on your toes, no sleeping through your color process here! I went to One80 Salon for my first appointment with Cynthia for color. I did not have a prior connection to either her or to the Salon. I have been coloring my hair for years. I have had bad experiences at the "top" salons (plural) in the city. These salons would over process my hair, not get close to my roots, give me a muddy color, or leave my hair brassy. This resulted in damaging my hair and more expensive salon visits. Cynthia spent time making sure she knew what I was looking for. She really listened to what I said and asked the right questions. The color she delivered was exactly what I wanted. Cynthia nailed it in one visit! It was not an easy job either, because I wanted to darken my over processed blonde hair to a Jennifer Ainston like color. I wish her boss had still been there, so I could tell him how impressed I am with the beautiful result. I am happy to have finally found a colorist in this city that does star quality work. I needed a haircut . And a change. Even my husband asked me to please get an appointment. It was hard because we moved from San Francisco few months ago and I needed to do some "research" prior to consider a hair salon and make an appointment. I am from the north of Spain and I am used to trendy and stylish haircuts. I like dramatic changes. My hair is curly (thick curls). There I was, asking Amy to do "whatever" as long as it will go well for my face and personal style. No matter how short. Be creative, tell me first what are you going to do. Only 2 requirements from me: no hair on my face and no need for to blow-dry it after showering. She did. Amazing. She suggested some color, and I took the risk. Jeremy took care of it in a moment, and recommended me a "negative" effect, given that I had already a base color from other occasion. It was GREAT! I finally feel that I found the hair salon and the stylist that will be from now on my regular stop to take care of myself. read more

I put my hair in Jeremy and Remi's hands years ago and never looked back - except to look at my fabulous hair! Not only are they great colorists and stylists, but they run a fantastic shop, with friendly and helpful employees from the front to the back of the shop. AND they offer benefits, including health care, to their employees (I hear this is not the norm in the salon industry - so kudos). Also tops on my list for taming my frizzy locks in the summer months are Cyrille and Jordan - they are both great and do a super job with a blowout. Cyrille has been very patient with my summer frustrations, and has taken extra care to ensure a long-lasting smoothness, and offers great tips for keeping the look up between blowouts. His last blowout lasted a week - through multiple tennis games too. You won't be disappointed in One 80...and you will always walk out feeling great about your look. read more

This place is awesome. Let me just say that I have thick curly hair and I have had nothing but superb results from everyone who has touched my hair in this salon, from the assistants to the front desk to the stylist to the colorist. JEREMY IS THE BEST COLORIST IN DC! PERIOD!!! I have been to plenty of other salons in the city and what I find is one of the following or, even worse, a combination of more than one of the following: the owners have attitudes, the place is in shambles, or people who are supposed to be professional are anything but. The One80 staff is run by two owners who truly care about every single person that walks in and the people who work for them are extremely professional. Jeremy has been doing my color for 16 years so clearly I'm a fan. I've had my hair styled by both Cyrille and Fred and they are FABULOUS! Lala gives THE BEST shampoos EVER! read more

What a great location! I just wish the salon manager would be a little more professional. Discussing politics, not to mention. As a customer I don't want to hear you debate weapons, or #MeToo. This man clearly makes a hostile work environment. We walk into this place and the majority of the staff is dressed for a Saturday garage sale. We expect to pay good money for a "professional experience". Instead we are in a Salon that charges hundreds of dollars for decent work and a staff that dresses for a cleaning or garage sale. Why is it salon professionals here don't cut each other's hair ? My teenager makes more of an effort to go to the gym than this bunch. They don't clean this place much either. My advice-- don't go to this place until they fix the male chauvinist pig running the place and have the women who show off hair customers may want to emulate. read more

I went to one80 hair salon for a color and a cut. To begin with, I agree that Fred is a genius. He can cut hair like no one I've ever met. So if I were just going to review Fred alone, I would give 5 stars. But unfortunately I also went to Derek for a full head of blond highlights. I asked for a fresh soft, but lighter look (I'm dark blond) with no gold or yellow tones. He put in a really fake-looking light blond color and some kind of copper tones which now make my hair look orange! At first I thought I was going crazy but I asked a couple of people who all agreed that especially my roots now look orange... I've had my hair highlighted many times in my life and never has it looked like this! It looks fake and totally does not suit my facial complexion. I am going to go back and get someone to fix it, and if they do a good job I'll consider changing my rating.... read more

My normal stylist gave me a horrible mid-length bob after I told her I only wanted short or long hair. After I pondered what to do for about 3 days, I decided I needed it fixed by someone else. l found One80 on Washingtonian's Top Salon lists and I saw how Remi cut someone's hair in the article/on the web and thought I would try him. I got in the same day I called because someone else cancelled. And thank heavens I did! Remi cut my hair and my haircut is beyond beautiful. It is so great I almost cried when I left the salon. I love it, my best friend loves it and I know my fiancé will love it. Remi is a genius with a pair of scissors! Even though the price is more than I have ever paid for a haircut, the cost was well worth it. And I will be going back to him for good. Anyone who can fix a bad haircut and make someone look gorgeous deserves his weight in gold! read more

Upon first entering One80 I felt more than welcome... the front desk assistant greeted me with a smile, complimented, me on my outfit, and offered me a glass of wine. After a long hard day at the office that is exactly what a girl needs. I was immediately taken to the shampoo and Lalla, the shamppo person massaged my scalp. I was then turned over to Cyrille my stylist who listen to everything I told him and carefully cut and styled my hair. He did take longer than other stylist I have seen before, but that is what makes him so appealing to me...he pampered me and my hair! My cut was fab when I walked out the door and still look great for the next week. I got so many compliments including one from my boyfriend who never notices things like that....so needless to say Cyrille is my new stylist!!!!! I urge anyone with a need for a good 'do to pay him a visit! read more
