She was so patient with me asking which sauces and chicken didn't have gluten, she was very sweet, willing to check all the ingredient labels, and when I was parked waiting for my food to be done, she brought it out to me. I am extremely disappointed with my recent order from the Ono Hawaiian Barbecue location closest to my home. I ordered the BBQ and Katsu mix, but when I opened it at home, the 'katsu' literally consisted of nothing more than random scraps and end-pieces. It was completely different from what I usually get. On top of that, the lemon I ordered looked diseased and unappealing--something I couldn't even bring myself to use. ​This is the second time this has happened at this specific location. The previous time, the meat portion was so pitifully small it looked like someone had already eaten half of it. I said something the next time I visited, but since nothing has changed, I feel forced to write this review. ​It breaks my heart because I genuinely like Ono Hawaiian Barbecue and have been a loyal customer for years at other locations without any issues. But this particular branch is the worst. Given that I've heard this place was featured as one of the worst restaurants by Arizona media, it's no surprise they can't shake that reputation. ​I don't like leaving bad reviews, but after paying my hard-earned money and getting ripped off twice, I want a refund, and I want other people to be warned. If you go to this location, check your food before you leave the store. I will never return to this branch again; I'll drive out of my way to go to a different one. First time trying this place and I really like it. Ordered the katsu chicken and chicken teriyaki with crab Rangoons and a coconut water from an actual coconut. The katsu chicken was mad crunchy, and delicious. The coconut drink was refreshing for sure! read more

I happened to be in the neighborhood when I realized I hadn't been to Ono Hawaiian BBQ in years. I couldn't remember why not, so I made a bee line for the parking lot. Glancing at the menu to refresh my memory, I was a bit surprised by the price points. None of the plate lunches (meals) was under $10.00. Some were $15+. Considering it's half carbs, I thought it was a bit much. But I was already here, so I continued to place an order from their app (in the parking lot). After the 15 minute wait time, I proceeded to the drive thru to pick up the order. If you're in a hurry, forget about it. It was an additional 15 minute wait for a total of 30 minutes. I ordered the Chicken and Beef Combo. I swapped one the the two scoops of rice for macaroni salad. The beef was a waste. Totally grizzly, I had to spit most of it out. The chicken was a bit more edible. The rice was ... rice. The only item that saved the meal was the macaroni salad. It was fresh and yummy. I'm not exactly sure how it's prepared, but it tasted like it had real mayonnaise instead of "salad dressing" (you know the brand). I was grateful I asked for double macaroni salad. I'm not often in this neighborhood, so I'm not positive, but the building seems relatively new. From the outside it seemed near and clean (though a couple of savory sorts lingered around). I can't say I'd rush back, but if I did, I'd stick to the macaroni salad and avoid the beef. read more

Onos is a staple in our household! We go every couple of weeks and it never disappoints! It's one of the top Hawaiian places that we have available to us (definitely the top fast food Hawaiian restaurant)! We are so thankful that this location is open a little later than others. Went back for a second shot. I thought for sure this locations issues were due to working out the "just opened" problems. This is the worst Ono I've ever been to. The only thing this location has going for it is the interior. It's VERY clean and really nice. But there is always issues with my order, and crazy long wait times. When I came in, I was expecting an aloha, which I didn't receive. That wasn't very pleasant. The rice and macaroni salad were good, and the pork was yummy, which warrants 3.5 stars. I went to the opening of the restaurant on Bell Road I loved the entertainment and appreciate a sense of community they have extended to Arizona. I ordered teriyaki chicken dinner and my wife ordered the beef short rib dinner. Sides were ok to good. Rice ok Mac Salad ok (better than Hawaiian Bro's Veggies good but very small portion Entrees - we tried each others and both enjoyed the teriyaki chicken. Juicy and caramelized nicely with their teriyaki sauce. We both felt the beef ribs were not good (not grilled well, over sauced/wet and kind of fatty /greasy). Would not recommend these. I enjoyed the house made teriyaki bbq sauce but my wife did not. Service was via drive through and was quick/pleasant and professional. read more

To start with the good, the mac salad was decent, the spam musubi on the other hand kinda disappointed. I found the balance between rice and spam was off. However, they didn't have Katsu:( so I decided I had an opportunity to compare them side by side. Ordered a hui hui chicken plate and headed to Ono for my Katsu plate.
