Really cool family owned Japanese/Hawaiian restaurant. The food is always fresh and excellent. The owners are very nice and you can often see their kids helping love going here. Cute little spot tucked away in an industrial plaza. Food is good. If it is busy, it does take a while to get your food, so be ready to wait during peak hours. Skip the loco moco, I've never had anything that inedible in my life. The patty was very hard and flavorless. They poach the eggs as well and they were not good quality eggs. They tasted so bland and rubbery, almost like microwaved eggs. The garlic shrimp noodles also weren't very good in my opinion. The shrimp was overcooked and the noodles lacked flavor. I really wanted to love Da Grill, because I love Hawaiian restaurants. This location is tucked in a small industrial office complex. The biggest impact was when we walked in the door and the floors appeared very dirty and a mop bucket just sitting in the middle of the room. The prices were reasonable and the menu items had a lot of variety. It really wouldn't take a lot to make the restaurant more appealable by keeping the front dining area clean. The food seemed overly salty and kind of dry but otherwise was a reasonable facsimile of Hawaiian food. I am giving him a three-star instead of a two-star because it is a unique offering and it wouldn't take much to improve. read more

I'm so glad I found this hidden gem by accident the other day while visiting the tire shop around the corner. I tried the Tom Yum fried rice with shrimp and Kalbi beef. Both were very delicious. Went back again and tried the chicken katsu which was tasty as well, but would have loved seeing alittle more vegetables served with this dish. The owner is super nice and the place is very clean. We've lived in the area for a few years now and only tried this place twice. This time I ordered lunch- orange chicken, a California roll, and a Thai tea. The prices were pretty good. Thai tea is delicious and big! Sushi was OK. Nothing special, kinda like a grocery store sushi roll. The orange chicken is where it really went downhill for me. It's about 80% breading and has zero crisp at all. It's also like pale yellow and under fried. I had high hopes as the reviews are great, but it was meh for me. Great katsu! This place is easy to miss when driving by. We tried the chicken katsu and upgraded the white rice to fried rice for $1. It was perfectly breaded & freshly prepared. The katsu sauce was very good (not ketchupy). It came with a TON of fried rice, but it was somewhat bland, could use some salt or flavoring. We also tried the samosas. They had a rich curry flavor and weren't too oily. One plate was more than enough food for 2 people. We will definitely visit again. Order ahead since they get busy and make it all when ordered it can take a few to get your food. Update: we visited again & had the teriyaki chicken w/fried rice. Unbelievably good!!! Are they under new management? We went in the other day and chicken katsu was not crispy - maybe the oil was not hot enough? They use Chinese style rice which is more dry and longer grain - I thought they switched to short grain like Japanese style before but it seems like they went back to the Chinese style again. I had their beef kalbi with rice and macaroni salad the first time I was there and was impressed with the kalbi; I got the jalapeño poppers too but they were okay, not too bad and not that great, just satisfactory. The macaroni salad didn't have much flavor. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, poke bowl, and jalapeño poppers this time and was disappointed. The poppers were nothing special and I don't think I'll be ordering those again. The tuna consistency and flavor was really subpar - it was a delivery so obviously it's not the best compared to dining in but the consistency and taste of the tuna was really disappointing, like it was watery? Almost not ground up well enough. The poke bowl was the most disappointing! I think they sear or do something with the tuna in the poke bowl but the flavor was just too sweet. I had three tuna bites to be sure and had to pass on it. The bowl was really small too, and the sides in there were almost non-existent.
