Pulled in here on a work lunch trying to decide what sounded good, then I saw the words "Hawaiian BBQ" and immediately knew the mission was set. If you hear somebody yell "CHEEEEHOOO" in the parking lot... mind your business because it was probably me. There were a few spots around to eat but this one won the battle quick. Parking lot is huge so no stress trying to squeeze into some tiny spot during lunch rush either. Walked inside and got greeted right away and the whole place felt clean, organized, and honestly just welcoming. Little things matter to me and the self service station was locked in. Napkins stocked, sauces organized, dining area clean... crew was definitely handling business. I grabbed the mini chicken teriyaki plate with rice, mac salad, veggies, and an ice cold Hawaiian Sun Passion Lilikoi drink because if you're gonna commit to the island vibe you gotta go all in. The chicken came out legit. Good flavor, juicy, and that teriyaki hit just right. The mac salad was on point and the rice was straight ono. For a quick second you forget you're in Stockton and feel like you're back on the islands... then you walk outside and boom... I have been to this location now several times. It's located in a. Strip mall right off 8 mile in Stockton Ca. Inside the restaurant is always impeccably clean and the ambiance is what you would expect for a small chain restaurant with an island vibe. Staff here is always super friendly with a warm greeting when you come in to thanking you when you leave. Food and I can only judge off one thing has been good. I have only had the island fire chicken plate. Each time it has been great and it's such a big portion it's enough for some leftovers as well. Food is great but their prices are outrageous!!! Now they sub charge for the spicy chicken and the bbq beef in the family meal that's already $48. Add that to $1.50 for a small scoop of rice and almost $2 for a small scoop of Mac Salad! But again the food is good, the service, it could use some personality but it's not bad overall. I haven't been to Ono in a while so we stopped by to grab dinner on 5/11/24. My favorite dish to get is the kalbi short ribs. My mom went for the chicken katsu. For her dish we forgot to get the sauce. They don't provide it in the container. My boyfriend's favorite dish is the grilled chicken breast with lemon pepper. This one took longer to make so we had to wait for 15 - 20 mins. I also like to get the Hawaiian Sun drinks here too. The drinks are sweet but so good. Overall, delish food. I don't know if this is one of those hit and miss days but the food was on point today. The chicken katsu was cooked just right crispy outside and juicy inside. So too was the barbecue chicken juicy inside and not burnt on the outside. Only gripe is the portion of rice and Mac salad on the mini was more like a half scoop rather than full scoop. This is my favorite Onos. They just do a great job with their sauces / temperature and cooking the fish. Please always use fresh hot oil for fish and shrimp and katsu. The restaurant does get pretty busy but it's overall clean. read more

Fast quick and easy... the food was good and my kids like it. The place was packed and they got us quick. I didn't even order anything and ate all my kids leftovers which was perfect for everyone. I find the food bland but who am i 2 judge :) You can order ahead which is nice. I recommend parking down away from the restaurant and other shops as the parking tens to get congested. Last food stop on the way home.... Ono offers the general Hawaiian BBQ meats and sides. What they don't offer are saimin noodles, BBQ Meat & veggie rice bowls, or spam musubi. The ladies working the counter were very professional, friendly, and hard working. One nice thing here was the variety of condiments available for patrons to help themselves to, from Katsu and teriyaki sauces to sriracha, soy sauce, ketchup, and much much more. My daughter ordered the Aloha dinner special, which was fried fish, rice, and salad. She said it was very good. I ordered the BBQ Beef lunch plate that comes with rice and Mac salad. It was really good, too. The island decor was nice and the place was clean. If they had soup or veggie bowls I might have even rated them at five stars. OH LORD. It was too late to take back our order. When we sat down at the dirty table, I knew it was too late. The tables are dirty, the seating chairs were torn, and the windows were so freaking filthy. If the dining place is dirty, how else would the kitchen be? Can we assume the kitchen is clean? We ordered two mini katsu and teriyaki plates. Food was good but I can't help but think how filthy is the table and seating area. It's disgusting. Not only did I have to wait twice as long to get my order because they forgot my Spam Musubi but, when I got back to work and opened the plate (during my second break because they wasted my whole lunch) but, they got my order wrong. Not to mention I paid extra for substitution. I think there was 6 people that came in after me and still got their orders before me. Ridiculous. Charge me extra. Came in lunch with some coworkers and we were all surprised how good the food was. I ordered the teriyaki beef and chicken and everything including the sides tasted good. Someone else ordered the katsu and they said it was great. Only reason I'm knocking a star off is the place was a mess. The counters where you could get teriyaki sauce had sauces all over the counter. It got to the point where an older couple complained and they cleaned up.
