My boyfriend remembers going here when he was a kid. It's been years since he's been back. This is the first time that I tried the cheesesteaks. I live in San Jose, so I know there's one there, but I usually just ordered the fries. This is inside the mall so if you want something fast and good, I would go here. Obviously, over the years, it's pricey, but it's still good for a while. This place is kind of like Subway. You order and pay first, and then they'll call your number, and you can pick what ingredients you like to put in your cheesesteak. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with regular fries. I think my boyfriend got the bacon chicken cheesesteak with Chipotle sauce. The cashier was really nice and bubbly. When we were sitting down and eating, she checked up on us and asked if everything was okay and Ilike that! Even if it was a fast food type, she definitely checked up on us. I've been coming here since I was a kid. The Philly cheesesteak never seems to disappoint. (See pics) It's located inside the mall by H&M and very hard to miss. Fries can be a bit salty. I always get no salt fries, but they seem to have salt on them this time. The sub can be messy with all the toppings and dressings added on. Seems like they got new employees and I don't see the owner as much anymore. I remember they used to give me unlimited refills on soda, but this time they limited me to 1 refill. When I was in the Air Force, I was stationed back east where I discovered Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. But after the service, I moved back west. I searched high and low to find a good west coast cheesesteak sandwich but have been unable to finding anything even close. I ran across this place in the mall and had to give it a try. I went for the basic cheesesteak sandwich...combo (fries and small soda). Hoping for a tastebud explosion. I opted for a large sandwich. The order in the receipt was incorrect (didn't say no onions) but the worker verbally told the cook. But the cook was cooking off a display and in the order taken. By the time he got to cooking my order, he must have forgotten and included the onions. So he had to make another. First, I was expecting a fairly large sandwich (12 to 14 inches long)...what I got was maybe an 8 inch long sandwich at best. I can't imagine how short the two smaller size sandwiches were. The large sandwich was $12.49 and was obviously way overpriced and not worth the cost alone...making it a combo added another $4.69. My hopes were dashed upon the first bite. The sandwich wasn't even close to being tasty...it was OK, but not tasty. The fries order was also pretty lacking in quantity, but they were good and hot. They loaded up a cup with ice then added Coke. I didn't complain about getting too much ice because I was expecting a free refill like every other restaurant in the local area offer. But to my surprise, the lady ( I believe was one of the owners) said it cost $1.00...really! The staff was nice. There's a limited number of seats/small tables. The place was clean, but being in a mall means there is no dedicated parking area. They did have one TV monitor on the wall. Dissatisfied with the taste, I seriously doubt I'll ever eat here again...especially considering the over the top prices. But you might like it...so try one if you're curious and in the area. The Asian lady is by far one of the most rudest employees I went into the kiosk to order my food and the kiosk states if you want to remove items do so I choose what I don't want and what I want and the lady calls my number over and states so you don't want anything no chicken no veggies nothing and embarrasses me in front of everyone. Went to Charley's with my family to enjoy a delicious meal but to my surprise it was the opposite. The lady taking the orders (Chinese lady) was so rude, my son went to pick up an order and she started screaming at my 8 year old son that the order wasn't he's, mind you he had the receipt to the order. So today for lunch I came to Charleys with a fellow coworker. As my coworker and I walked in we were going over the menu. Noticing we were in luck because only a few people were eating here. So seating would not be a problem. The place was very clean and quite. All I could here is the T.V in the background. So after checking things out we put in our order. The cashier Jenn is very friendly and has a cool sense of humor. My coworker ordered a Bacon three cheese Sandwich with Bacon cheese fries and a drink. I got a small chicken Philly with fries and a drink. To me the food on the pictures looks exactly the way they make it. I see tons of commercials and promos everywhere and the food doesn't look like as it was advertised. But here I was impressed. I really liked my meal , it was small but it hit the spot. A few hours later as I write this review, I'm still full. During my lunchbreak, I asked my coworker, how was his food? He looked at me and didn't say a word and shook his head and smiled with the thumbs up. Charleys is kinda small and cozy. The staff is very friendly and talkative. Lots of sandwich and French fries choices. Just college kids and other workers. This place is more expensive than should be but wages are $10-$12 per hour for employees and Mall rent is a lot higher, so of course the cost to eat here is more expensive. Sandwich tasted good, needed a bit more salt which I added and also ordered some french fries to along with it and a drink. Little pricey for a large sub, french fries and a drink. But had to eat in a bind and this did satisfy. Staff is helpful and will make your sub the way you want it (Burger King style), as my wife did not want bell peppers on her half.
