Done in or take out counter style Korean BBQ Choices OF FOUR SIDE DISHES 8 choices to choose from .. soda fountain or can available for take out's...! It's my first time ordering from here. Dillingham Blvd heavy construction of the street is a bad drive and loss of customers eating at this eatery. It's not a very pleasant place to eat and relax but it might be worth the trip only BBQ eats in Kalihi close to the HCC community college! They have been here for a very long time! To support those situated here during the development of the road taking ages to complete might be worth buying from the locals striving to build a business here!

Located in Kapalama shopping center on Dillingham Blvd.

Went to Costco Iwilei and my husband suggested Korean BBQ for lunch. Wanted to see if there was anything new in the area, as we always eat at the usual places. Found Ono Korean BBQ on Google and decided to give it a try. It was about 12:30pm, but surprisingly it wasn't busy at all, in fact there was no one in the restaurant. I definitely expected we'd hit some kind of lunch rush. Upon entering we were greeted. The lady behind the counter was friendly enough. I ordered a regular spicy chicken wings and spicy pork combo plate, and my husband got a regular fish jun and BBQ chicken combo plate. The prices are about average as other places we've been to, for both mini and regular plates, but what I loved were the selection of sides!! They had the usuals like mayo and shoyu potato, corn, kim chee, chop chae, bean sprouts and mac salad....BUUUTT they also offered vegetable tempura, korean pancake, and fish cake! That was awesome! Their plates have good portions, and each plate came with 1 mandoo and 1 piece of korean pancake. Everything was very tasty! We'll definitely be back again!

Solid Korean diner. Ono Korean BBQ is situated on the mauka side of the Kapalama Shopping Center. I've eaten their food twice and can say it is comparable to most Korean style diners. Plate lunch prices are reasonable...offering a mini and regular servings. Previously, I had their regular Meat Jhun takeout plate. It was alright. The beef was of a thicker cut than most places. Sauce was okay. Subsequently, I had a mini Kalbi/ BBQ Chicken Combo Plate: which was good. If you're moderately hungry the mini plate will fill you up. Kalbi was tender enough. Parking stalls are available in the mall lot. It can get quite busy.

I was craving for Korean plate lunch and came across the place thru yelp. I came during lunch on a weekday, it wasn't busy at all. Customer service was ehh... lacking. The lady behind the counter wasn't so friendly. They have lots of seating if you want to dine in. Lots of bancchan choices also! I love how the mix plates also have a "mini" version. Prices are average & like any other Korean place. I got the regular size meatjun & kalbi mixed plate. Portion was actually a lot smaller than usual places. They weren't super generous with their portions & sides. But flavor was there! Definitely was ONO - from the meat Jun, kalbi to the bancchan! I just wish service was a little better and friendlier. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming again because of how good the food is.

I'm happy to report that this little Korean restaurant really lives up to its name! We've been there multiple times now and I will happily say the food is Ono! I've had the meat jun, spicy pork, bbq chicken and bi bim kook soo. Everything was delicious but what really makes this place better than others that I've been to is there really good variety of sides. They have like 16 choices! And they include chop chae, vegetable tempura, potatoes, tofu, something that taste like vegetable pancake and many more! The food is delicious, sides are awesome and they have indoor tables and owners are friendly. Great Korean food in Kalihi!

So we stopped by to try the meatjun kalbi combo. The food and customer service was great

    Receipt

Pre Ordered a Small Meat Jun platter on the phone and came to in person to pick it up expecting it to be around $47 per the current website up. The SMALL meat jun was $75 when I had asked the cashier she had told me that the website was old and there was nothing she could do about it. She was rude and brushed me away acting like she could not understand English. I would not come back again the prices and sizes of the food are ridiculous. If I could give 0 stars I would.

The Ono Special without rice. Vegetable tempura, potato salad, japchae, vegetable pancakes, daikon kimchi.

One of my go to places whenever I am in Honolulu. They have been consistent with great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The service is always friendly and once the order has been place very quick even when they are extremely busy. I ordered the Ono Special, which consisted of BBQ chicken, beef, and Kalbi. Since I was staying away from rice, I was able to get two more sides in the place of rice. I ordered it with the classic potato salad, Korean japchae, daikon kimchee, vegetable pancake, and vegetable tempura. Their sides are all very good, and it has always been difficult to choice which sides to get because they are all delicious The BBQ meat was sweet and hot and melted in my mouth. I can not wait to go back there again for another round.

Their chicken katsu was mostly breading. Hardly had chicken. Some pieces I couldn't even taste chicken and for the ones I could it was a hint of chicken. The breading dominated the flavor. Rice and sides was good.

One of our favorite casual Korean plate lunch places. Our destination if we're craving meat jun and spicy pork. Sides are tasty and there's a nice variety. Enough space to eat in with tables.

    Super thin meat jun
    Carol W.

I will apologize for leaving a bad review but felt this is only to leave a constructive critique. I'm not a meat Jun expert but is it not fair to compare their meat Jun to Young's Kalbee (Aiea) , Sam's Delicatessen (Nuuanu) , Gina's (Kapahulu) & Soon's Kal Bi (Salt Lake) to name a few. The meat was paper thin so you couldn't taste the beef and the egg wash tasted like it had mochi batter. Others have said their fav was their meat jun, so I'm not sure if I just had a different cook, but bad enough that I wouldn't order this again.

I went to the Dillingham Zippy's for lunch and decided to buy our dinner from here since they're in the same complex and because I enjoyed their food many times where the workers were friendly and helpful but this time, the person helping me did not greet me or crack a smile. Not a good feeling... I noticed that the prices went up as expected but she was stingy with the veggie sides. I believe they should know that there's a lot of Korean food places that serves double of what they do. If they keep this up, their customers will start patronizing other Korean restaurants. I will come back here again when I'm in the area hoping their customer service improves and side dishes are less stingy. A suggestion for this place because I care: With all the competition out there, you should feel grateful that you have customers. It's because of them that you'll be successful. Do what you can to make them want to spread the word to family and friends about your restaurant or think of you for their parties. Remember, this is a small island...word by mouth works great!

Looking at the menu on the picture window...I had to wonder is Uncle: Korean...African-American...Deep South gentleman? Well, I think he's Taiwanese. Menu revolves around chicken. They have plates, sandwiches, and slushies. I got the Taro Hokkaido Slushie for takeout. It was okay...I can't tell you what it tastes like...other than that it was sweet. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich was unassuming. It was slightly spiced...a bit different than I am used to and it had a bit of a kick. I would not order anything spicy from their menu. Piece of battered chicken breast that was both juicy and flavorful. A real surprise. Service was just under 15 minutes...I walked in and ordered takeout. There was one order ahead of me. Dining area is bigger than you would think, but there are only four tables inside...it is mostly a takeaway place. Parking stalls are for Uncle's and the plaza. Stalls at Upscale, as well. I uploaded this picture into chat gpt with the business explanation of the pinking in poultry and according to AI, "Pinking" can happen in cooked poultry -- but what you're showing in the photo does not look like harmless pinking. Here's the difference in plain language: Harmless "pinking" (still fully cooked) * Happens from smoking, high heat, or certain proteins. * The meat is fully opaque, firm, and cooked through. * Only the outer edge or near the bone looks pinkish. What your picture shows * The meat looks translucent, soft, and raw, especially near the joint. * There are dark, bloodlike areas around the bone. * The texture looks undercooked, not just color-changed from chemical reactions. Even with pinking, cooked chicken never looks glossy or raw in the center the way yours does. I decided not to go back to the counter because there was a language barrier and I felt the woman wasn't listening to me in the first place anyway. Threw pretty much all the food away and left hungry and down $20.

That totals my 10 pieces. More bones and excess crispy flour then consumable meat. NOBODY gives a Chicken back (or 1/2 a back)! Not Popeyes, not KFC or Zippy's who will remain my Favorite because I will only get ripped off the 1st time, never again. Additionally, they make you buy the sauce, the reason is due to no seasoning on the over floured bread...but it IS Crispy! The Chicken tenders were overcooked and REALLY Chewy around the edges. Just a LOT of breaded Crispy with no flavor, what "Chef" doesn't even use salt? Really, if you're going to risk testing this food, PAY for some sauce! I hope the Owner reads this and realizes that ripping people off by selling broken pieces that most Chef's throw away because they have so little meat on them, isn't going to keep him in business. The profit margin may be up while folks are trying it, spending their hard earn $$$'s, yet not coming back will be the ultimate demise of this business as many other have come and gone doing the exact same thing, not putting themselves in he patron's position.
