My new favorite BBQ plate lunch...this place is the best!
    Zachary K.

This place is the best. I get the $9.99 breakfast plate or just the pancakes in the morning. I liked the pancakes so much that I would even order them in the afternoon, (3)pancakes for only $6...McDonald's gives you these small ass pancakes for the same amount of money. My go-to plate lunch now is the BBQ mix plate. You can't go wrong with the chicken katsu plate lunch or the chicken katsu musubi either from this place. Drive up, park, and order what I mentioned earlier and you won't be disappointed. This place is the best!

We went there around 9:00 am and decided to try some of his lunch items. I ordered Beef curry mini plate which came with rice & Mac salad and beef curry, it came out hot and it was very flavorful and tasty, some of the meat was tough and some tender, but overall it was good. My wife ordered the beef stew mini plate and it came out hot, but it was on the sweet side, which she didn't care for, so I tried it and yes it was not like the local style beef stew it was very sweet which the sweetness dominated the stew flavor and she had a lot of tough meats, told her that most restaurant use clods it the cheaper cuts and if they don't cook it long enough it is tough. The staff is friendly like always

Lunch time grindz. We have visited twice, and both hubs and I tried different mini-plates. Chicken Katsu was light, crispy, and a huge offering which came out to be about 3 pieces of chicken in a mini! Cold ginger chicken with extra sauce, solid mini plate. Mini meat jun (special) was different--the meat was cut up before being dipped in the egg and fried. The taste was ok, but it wasn't what I would call a traditionl looking meat jun, and there seemed to be much less. Chicken cutlet mini with brown gravy sauce; it was different than the katsu, as it was a bit more dense and had more of a firm texture, and didn't have as much chicken as the first katsu plate did. So far, so good. We will be back for lunch again. It's convenient, service was polite and they will bring the food to you if you are eating in.

Stopped by I Love Grill, a newer spot down the street this morning for breakfast. I went with the special combo of the day, which came with mochiko chicken and loco moco, while my girlfriend tried the chicken katsu. The mochiko chicken was tasty and definitely the highlight of my plate. The loco moco, on the other hand, was pretty average. The patty was the same type you'd expect from a basic burger, so nothing too special there. My girlfriend enjoyed the chicken katsu and I thought it was decent. The sauce stood out since it was more tomato based than the usual katsu sauce, which gave it a different twist. One nice thing is that their specials include a drink which adds a little extra value. Plus, they open at 7am, making it a convenient option if you're looking for an early meal.

Got a few burgers and crinkle fries. They had a 2 burger deluxe combo with two large drinks for $18.36 (price was not on the sign near the counter). Burgers were good, but I refuse to give 5 stars for a frozen patty. Would be better if it were homemade. They have a pretty standard L&L style menu with plate lunches and burgers. Service was courteous and quick. Dine-in tables were clean. Parking is very hit or miss. There's only a handful of stalls out front. Quick turnover may result in a stall opening up if you wait. There aren't a lot of great street parking options nearby.

Breakfast in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... While my friend's car was being serviced, I took her to this Hot New Business called, "I Love Grill". It's kind of like L&L - order and pay with the cashier. If it's not busy, they'll bring your meal to your table. Usually, they'll call out your number when your meal is ready. Inside is very spacious and clean. Outside, the parking was congested because of construction. It should have cleared up by now. I got the shrimp and mushroom omelet with toast... yummy! They didn't have wheat toast, but that's ok. The cashier brought two little jelly containers to me later. I had a nice experience here. I wish 'I Love Grill" much success, prosperity and happiness! Thanks for the cheerful and efficient service!

Kalua pork mini, steak and garlic shrimp

I was so surprised!! I passed by this place before thinking, "oh another plate lunch plate that won't do so well". But I gave it a shot anyway. The cashier was really nice and had good service. There's a dining area but most people just take out. I ordered the Kalua pork mini and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It was flavorful and juicy. The cabbage was a bit too thin for my liking but it was still good! It was also a good ratio of cabbage to pork. Mac salad is pretty decent as well. Partner got the steak and garlic shrimp, and i actually really liked the shrimp! Large, plump shrimp. Pleasantly crispy and seasoned well. After a few shrimp it started to have a weird aftertaste though... The steak I didn't try but they said it was pretty good. Prices are decent for good plates! Would go again.

Nice and clean just opened for a few weeks. Took over Aunty Z's restaurant across the Kalihi's Rainbow Drive in. There's a convenient small parking lot in front. Located off of the busy School St and near Houghtailing St. "I Love Grill" served some local comfort food.which is similar to local drive in restaurants. They offer mini and regular plates and a few plates on their healthy menu with 1 scoop of brown rice and a toss green salad. The chicken wings were nice and crunchy yet juicy. I'm not sure but it's like those double fried chicken wings which had more of a crunch! Best to eat it right away! The Mac salad had some grated carrots and perhaps a touch of chopped parsley. The rice was on the drier side and not like what I'm used to having. Perhaps they can perfect that. The beef stew was pretty good with one big potato and carrot and about 5 pieces of beef in a bowl container. They have a catering menu too. You can dine in their nice size dining area with a tv monitor. There was a long waiting bench at the front as you wait. Nice addition to the Kalihi area!

Regular roast pork & gravy plate.

Ordered the regular roast pork w/gravy. Meat was super hard & tough. Very hard to chew. It was $18.06 that's including tax. Very disappointed. I couldn't finish eating it. Thats how hard & chewy it was. Meat looks like it's been sitting out all day & they just put the gravy on it as u order.

    Loco moco and mochiko plate

Picked up food for the airport. I got the daily special which was a loco moco and mochiko chicken plate. It comes with 2 scoops of rice and Mac salad. This special also came with a drink. $16.95. Not a bad deal. The hamburger patty and the gravy in the loco moco was flavorful. The mochiko chicken was still crispy and not soggy at the airport. That was tasty too. I just wish the chicken were in bigger chunks vs long thinner pieces. Friendly service with good size portions and comparable prices. They offer a huge variety on their menu.

    Katsu BBQ chicken special

Been enjoying this spot for months now. The deep fried chicken wings is my go to, and I tried this katsu BBQ chicken special which was okay. The BBQ chicken was delicious. The katsu was a bit thin and hard to chew. Kitchen and dining area is clean. Lots of free parking. Staff are nice.

    Lemon chicken chicken katsu combo
    Gina H.

Decided to give this new business a try. It's your nice new Lnl clone. Got the lemon chicken/chicken katsu combo. I'll start off with the positives. The thickness of the chicken was nice and thick. The rice was made well. macaroni salad was better than average. Please fix your katsu sauce and lemon chicken sauce. The katsu sauce was not edible it tasted like ketchup and the color was off, kinda milky color. Based on this it seems as if the chef never ate chicken katsu. Lemon chicken sauce was the junky vinegar medicine type.

That's just the food. The service was just fine. Now we were waited on in a timely manner, and the waitress was quite friendly. The place seemed funky in a cool way but its aesthetic was sorted rounded out by a certain level of dust and filth that was across the entire restaurant on our visit. Don't even bother using the restroom which was coated and I am not even sure what. Seriously, I've not been moved to make a review of many places in my travels. This was one I felt I should give a heads up on because my experience differed so greatly from the popular opinion on yelp.

Review for Indochine 1938…read more Outstanding food and service undermined by unacceptable cigar smoke exposure. We've dined here 10-12 times over the years (including during COVID) and have always had wonderful experiences--until this visit. First, a high five to the chef, kitchen, servers, and bussers. The food was excellent, our server's recommendations were spot on, and the team is clearly working hard under pressure. Even the manager and host, though overwhelmed, were trying to accommodate. However, the cigar smoke situation is unacceptable in a dining environment. We were offered outdoor seating and immediately encountered active cigar smoking. While it may be noted somewhere on the menu, it is not clearly communicated or reasonably expected, especially for returning guests who have never experienced this here before. Even inside, the layout allows smoke to drift into the dining area. By the end of the evening--and into the next morning--I experienced significant allergy symptoms directly tied to that exposure. As we were leaving, other guests were asking where the smoke was coming from--only to see people actively smoking right at the entrance. This is where ownership needs to step in. For a public-facing restaurant, this raises concerns about guest safety, basic dining standards, and potential compliance with local smoking ordinances. At minimum, there needs to be clear separation, ventilation, and enforcement--especially at the entrance. People can absolutely make their own choices--but guests also deserve to clearly know what they're walking into. If there is going to be active cigar or cigarette smoke as part of the environment, that should be clearly disclosed upfront, not discovered after being seated. For those with allergies, asthma, or sensitivities to smoke--this may not be the right environment, and that's important to know ahead of time. Bottom line: Your staff and kitchen are doing everything right--but they are being undermined by an avoidable environmental issue. We would return--but only if this is addressed.

Overall great food...just need to clean or replace their ventilation system or whatevs...

They were bustling with business but upon arrival, we were able to grab one of the tables outsides luckily. They have large menus, I assume they may be disposable as it is paper and gets dirty super fast. I feel like they should really try to laminate these things to avoid waste. WE got: * Garlic Bread with Mushroom Cream Sauce: 8/10. My friend that I was with said he really recommended it so we got it. It was a pretty solid appetizer, the bread was garlicky and buttery. The toasty bread paired well with the mushroom cream sauce. Even though it was good I personally wouldn't order it again just because I feel like there are much more unique/ interesting dishes on the expansive menu * Hane Cheese Gyoza: 10/10. No notes, this was amazing. Meaty and cheesy, perfectly satisfied my umami and cheesy craving. * Filet Katsu Curry: My friend got this, it looked very good and he said he really likes it so I assume it is a solid item as well. I didn't get the chance to try it. * Pasta Salmon with Cream Sauce: 8/10 I got this because I wanted to give their pastas another shot after not really liking their uni pasta... this was good. Personally wouldn't get it again though. I feel like they could cut down on the volume of noodles and possibly increase the amount of cream/sauce and even the salmon. As our meal progressed, it felt like it was getting less and less creamy as there weren't enough sauce to cling onto the remaining noodles I feel like I would definitely recommend this spot for happy hour, I heard their drink deals are good too (on top of their food HH). The cheese gyoza could single handedly bring me back, so I'm interested in exploring other dishes. Glad I was able to have a better experience this time around.

Our fav for happy hour. Although not on the happy hour menu, uni pasta is a must!…read more If you like cheese, try the cheese gyoza. Service is fast and this place has a fun vibe.

Aunty Lien and son Tuan still serving with a smile. So many great choices to choose from. I always come for the pho. Soup is delicious and comforting. Meat is of good quality and generously portioned. The vegetables abundant, fresh, and my favorite variety of basil, sawtooth, jalapeño, and fresh lemon. It really IS my favorite spot on the island for pho! I keep on saying I will try their other popular dish which is the oxtail soup or the oxtail pho... but haven't been able to get around wanting the deliciousness of the combo pho (and they are often sold out of this item)! I shouldn't know this but their tapioca dessert is out of this world delicious too!! You can find Ocean Pho on most social media platforms. Instagram: oceanpho808. Facebook: Ocean Pho and Pho Dai Duong. Tiktok: @Ocea n pho808 . Ocean Pho shares parking lot with a space a spa, mini mart and a few other businesses. Get there when they first open at 10:30a or 4:30p and there will be no problem. Just don't visit on Tuesday when they are closed otherwise you be waiting a very long time!
