There's a lot of parking and other eateries in the area. The lady worker who's always there and it seems like she's always by herself in the front is always friendly and quick. The menu is slightly cheaper than other popular chains. I was a little worried when I thought the sides were kinda skimpy portions, with the lady making perfect little divisions. However, when I opened up my container at home, was pleasantly surprised but the portions of the main items. I ordered fish jun and it lasted me 3 meals. There's that much fish. Also, idk if it was in the styrofoam container on the way home, but it wasn't crispy like most places. Maybe condensation? At any rate, the flavor was good and not overly eggy/battered. The sides were standard and tasted just the same. The kid had meat jun and finished the main part in 2 sittings without finishing the sides. The hot sauce they give you was a disappointment. The place looks clean and that is the only reason I didn't give a price be star. Again, my pet peeve is when you pay with a card, and you have to choose if you want to leave a tip. Why? They don't allow anyone to sit in there so what else would justify a tip. You served the side veggies? Isn't that your job? Oh, and they kinda skimp on the side dishes unlike many other Korean places. Prices are $12 and up for plates, so I don't see why they'd skimp. Just me, but I guess I have to start carrying cash so I am not so rudely asked how much tip I want to give. After paying, not even a thank you from who I believe is the owner, but not sure. Older Korean lady. As for the food, the meat and chicken were so dry and no flavor at all! Skimping on the ingredients is quite a possibility. Nestled against the far back row of eateries in the beautifully renovated Dillingham Shopping Plaza, is Ono Korean BBQ. While parking here can be tricky during lunch and dinner rushes, Ono Korean BBQ is clean, bright, and has just enough seating available even on a busy day. Ono Korean BBQ in my opinion is the best value when it comes to Korean plate lunch. They have the standard selections like bbq chicken, kalbi, meat jun etc. in mini (ranging between $8.29 and $10.49) and regular sizes (between $10.49 and $13.99). Most times we uses to get a chicken katsu plate for the kids ($10.69), but nowadays the boy has a bigger appetite so he gets his own plate, while the girl now gets a mini bbq chicken ($8.69). Hubby and i order either a bbq chicken chicken plate ($10.69) or Ono special plate, which has kalbi, beef and chicken with a mandoo and a fried potato pancake too! But let me tell you about the sides.... now THIS makes Ono Korean BBQ even more spectacular. There are sooo many things to choose from, and your plate is loaded! The mini comes with rice and 2 sides, regular is 4 sides. You also can sub an extra choice of side instead of rice. My kids enjoy the hot dogs, while we usually go for a variety of the kim chees and veggies! I tried this place when I first moved to Hawai'i and it was awesome! Large portions and I thought "Oh next time, I'll share with my family instead of each getting our own individual plate" fast forward to today. We decided to do a Postmates order for this place last night, my husband and I both worked and came home late and we both didn't feel like cooking. We got our delivery, shared our meals with our two small children and now we all have food poisoning! My poor baby have been having blow outs up the back and my eldest have been using the toilet since 4am and I'm no help them because I too am stuck going back and forth to the toilet. I don't know what happen, maybe it was because it was towards closing that the food wasn't handled properly because we had no issues the first time around ordering around 1pm. Now this time we ordered around 6/7pm. Now I'm forced to miss work and miss getting paid and my children have to miss school, thanks a lot. I'm sorry, but once I get food poisoning at a place... Can't beat the Meat Jin here. Their prices are very reasonable and the food is top quality. I can honestly say that when you see you're food, quantity wise, it don't look like much, but it is so good and you do get so full. Our go to plates are the Regular Meat Jun and Regular Chicken Katsu. Can't go wrong with that combo. Good enough to feed 4 people IMO. The Kal-Bi is also great. We don't always order it. The sides are better then most other Korean BBQ joints. They have a hot dog with onion and sometimes Korean pancake too. Mac salad is ONO. Parking can get a little crowded during lunch. This place is convenient located in kapalama shopping center. They are kinda like yummy's or palama super market concept of grab and go korean food. But they are cheaper than yummy's by $1-2. I always get meat jun and they pre cut it. I get a regular plate with no rice, my sides are usually long rice X2, shoyu potato, cucumber kimchi, and corn/choy sum but sometimes will change depending on available. My meat jun egg and beef ratio is thin but I taste beef and egg in every bite. There isn't gristles in my beef. I like that. Sometimes they do burn the egg. -Long rice is clear, not as salty as other places, and not slippery. Texture is more firm and easier to grab but its kinda hard to chewy. There's not much taste to it, kinda bland. There's a few pieces of onion and some cabbage, that's it. -Shoyu potato.. well taste like potato.. skin is left on, if they messed up I think that be bad. It was sweet. -Cucumber Kimchi - a little soggy and not spicy.. ideally most places aren't spicy anyway. -Corn is from the can... haha -choy sum is kind of bland and chewy. It's sad to say that Yummy is better than this place. The food portion and price is decent, but the quality is bleeh. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate that comes with 2 scoops of rice, 3 and a half piece of chicken and 4 sides. The food came out pretty quick. Food: The BBQ chicken is really burnt. The burnt pieces fell on the rice. Ewww. It was oily and there was chicken bones. Isn't it usually boneless? The rice was warm. The four sides that we chose were long rice, choi sum, seaweed, and pancake. The long rice noodle was hard. There was no taste to it and it was dry. The choi sum was hella salty. The seaweed...it's not sweet nor sour, messed up taste. The fried pancake, it was cold and soggy. There was no spicy sauce on the condiment area. What a horrible experience. They had vegetable tempura as a side choice, and gave 2 small pieces for one choice. The other sides were portioned similarly generously. So much food, but how did it taste? Honestly, the BBQ was about average for Korean take-out BBQ here on Oahu. Not to say it was bad, because it wasn't, but there wasn't anything "WOW" about it. I really like the new Dillingham complex after the remodel. It's a nice looking complex which is somewhat of an oasis in the general atmosphere of the rest of kalihi. Since it was redone, a few new places have shown up including Ono Korean BBQ. I stopped in here tonight after a workout hungry as hell. I may have went a little overboard and ordered both the meat jun and spicy bbq pork. The spicy pork was above average, and combined with the bbq sauce I thought it was fairly good. The meat jun was very tasty and the texture was just right. I especially enjoyed the option for both regular and spicy versions of the meat jun sauce. My coworkers regularly order lunch from here and rave about how good the food is. First of all, I text my coworker and told him he lied lol. The Meat Jun is so thin, and doesn't have any flavor. For the sides I ordered the mayo potatoes, egg patty, long rice and cabbage. The mayo potato had no flavor and the mayo they use is not of good quality. The egg patty was super thick and tasted doughy. The long rice was flavorless, as was the cabbage which seemed to be seasoned with only black pepper. Yes, they are inexpensive for a Korean bbq place, but I'd gladly pay for quality over quantity anytime! I gave them 2 stars because I ordered online for pick up. It was super easy, there's a section for notes (for those who like dressings and/or sauces seperate, like me.) in case you want to make a special request, and you get to watch the progress of your order being processed. Located in the old Palama Market space in the Dillingham Plaza is a korean take out place named Ono Korean BBQ. I stopped here because parking is plentiful and easy to get in and out of the Plaza and the order for the day was Korean food. Got there at 11:15; before the lunch crowd. Placed my order with a friendly counter clerk who was diligently took my order. No sooner than my order getting placed, the lunch crowd came in. The Owner (I assumed owner by the way she spoke and handled the cash register) began to man the counter and take orders. She not only messed up all the ordering system, she was very condescending to her worker and began scolding her in front of everyone. So far as I could see, the counter clerk did nothing wrong. In her haste to fulfill everyone's orders and messing up the system, my order got lost in the shuffle. I was the first one there and the last one to leave. The owner reminded me of the Tazmanian Devil- whirling into and creating a storm and whirling out. When I asked where my order was Owner then started scolding the counter clerk as if it was the clerk's fault. Shameful service. The food? Meh! I've had better. The kalbi meat was a bit too sweet. The banchan servings were teeny weeny servings, the mandoo soup was the best tasting of the approximate 5 plates and dishes I ordered. Moral to the story? On my first visit, I noticed a piece of white tape on the glass part of their cash register. I didn't think nothing of it, until I noticed it is "blocking/covering" the line where it shows you what the change you get back should be. This is really shady, especially since I've been short change a few times (Yes, I am very naïve to think things will be different this time. But it never is). The short change is less than $1 every time (it's cents - so I rather not argue and have some additional unwanted "ingredients" in my food), but IMHO, they probably do it to all patrons, if not 90% of the time, for 365 days a year... that adds up to some significant $. My last and final visit, I found a bug (it looks like they have a small bug problem according to other reviews) in my food. It looked like a gnat. Everything was delicious except for the mondoo they added to my plate. I got a regular size plate which came with 2 scoops of rice and 4 choices of vegetables. I chose Kim chee, corn, mac salad, and seaweed. The Kim chee and seaweed was great in flavor. My boyfriend got the BBQ beef plate. They give a very large amount of meat. The vegetables could've looked more appetizing but we did go close to closing time. I usually get the shoyu potatoes at other Korean BBQ's but it looked dried out and un-fresh. The female working was very pleasant. She greeted us when we walked in and didn't rush us on taking our order. Being that this was our first time here we looked over the entire menu before ordering.
