Severely undercooked across the whole cut. Medium rare should be a warm pink center, not this.
    Alessandro D.

Severely undercooked steak for takeout and then blamed us for it. 1 star. The short version: we ordered medium rare and got steak that was badly undercooked and inedible to us, and we were treated like the problem when we brought it up. Details below. On June 5 my girlfriend ordered a steak medium rare for takeout and brought it home. When we opened the container, the meat was far rarer than medium rare, undercooked and pink/purple through the center, to the point it was inedible to us. We have photos. We didn't feel comfortable eating it, so we threw it out. We're working people and didn't have time to call in that day, so we went in person two days later to tell them what happened and showed them our video of the steak. We even wrote a complete letter laying it all out for ownership and management. Instead of simply taking the letter, passing it along, and offering any kind of credit, they kept asking why we didn't bring the food back, which we'd already explained in the letter. Their tone with us was accusatory throughout. Mistakes happen in any kitchen. Refusing to own it, and instead pushing the problem back onto the customer, is a choice, and a deeply unprofessional one. If you order a steak here, check how it's cooked before you leave. I would not go back.

I tried Ono shrimp and honestly... it was pretty mid, especially for a $20 plate. The shrimp looked super bland and didn't really have that garlicky, saucy punch you expect -- I feel like I could've cooked something better at home. I was starving so it tasted okay, but definitely not something I'd go back for. Also kinda weird there was no mac salad option... made me question how recent some of these other reviews are. I expected more for the price and hype.

    Inedible rice we spit out.
    Breeann J.

Extremely disappointed with both the food and the customer service. We ordered food last night and the rice was so hard it was completely inedible, we literally had to spit it out. We called right away and the worker told us we could come back the next day to have the order remade for free and that we didn't need to bring the food back. When we came back today, the manager suddenly told us they wouldn't honor that and refused to remake the food. Then she tried to act like she was doing us some huge favor by offering to remake ONLY ONE plate as a "one time exception" even though BOTH plates were bad. So what exactly were we supposed to do, split one plate after spending over $40? Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication and refusal to stand behind your product is unacceptable. We wasted money, time, gas, and a trip back because your staff gave us false information and then made us feel like we were trying to scam free food when we literally just wanted edible food for what we paid for. If you're going to sell bad food, at least have the decency to make it right instead of backtracking and making customers look like liars. Terrible customer service and an even worse way to handle a complaint. Won't be back.

Steak plate with shrimp and rice $20.25

I'm terribly disappointed in the portion sizes that Onos gives now. This review has been sitting in my drafts for a while now, but I've finally decided to post it. Service was alright. Kinda sucked that the drinks fountain wasn't working, but they gave us a canned drink instead so at least that made up for it. Our large steak plates came only half way full, with 1 scoop of rice, and barely dressed salad. I paid almost $20 a plate that wasn't even full unfortunately. Steak was meh, quality has definitely dropped over the years. I shouldn't be paying an upwards of $60 and everyone's still hungry. Positives: Workers are nice, I appreciate the condiment bar, and a good amount of seating options for a to-go plate establishment. Cons: Flavor isn't up to par, portion sizes, and price. For me, the cons outweigh the pros unfortunately, so I probably won't be back, which makes me so sad because I used to love this place.

Honestly, I love it when I stumble upon places like this. I happened to be driving by Waimanalo, and the hunger hit, and luckily, this place popped up as close by. I'm a sucker for garlic shrimp, so it was an easy yes for me. I ordered the steak and garlic shrimp, and it was great, but I also decided to order the coconut shrimp to try, and oh my god, it was amazing. Maybe the best coconut shrimp I've ever had. I also ordered the garlic fries, which were crispy and very garlicky, which I love. The service was fast and friendly. So glad I stumbled upon this gem and will definitely go back next time I'm on Oahu.

The first time I tried this place the steak was too salty as if the cook seasoned the steak 3x. Today I wanted to give it another try and boy I regret it. The lady that helped us was so nice and welcoming and we got our food under 10 minutes. As soon as I took the first bite of steak I instantly regretted giving this place another try. The steak was so salty and the rice was mushy. I ordered my steak medium but got well done. The only good thing good about the plate was the greens.

7oz steak plate, medium, little too much dressing.

Came here on a weekday after the lunch rush about 2pm. Parking is still crowded in this corner but more parking available on the other side. I got the 7oz steak plate with salad and thousand island dressing. This steak was very delicious! Superrr tender and yummy grilled flavor. Double scoop rice and double salad, ate the whole thing! Only thing was there didn't seem t be any trash can inside where we ate so we walked out to throw it away and the outside trash was super full with similar plates too. Had to walk down to another outside trash can.

Customer service could have been better. First time there. Asked her if they put the dressing on the toss salad already or if it's separate. Her response, we don't put it on the side unless you tell us. I was like, okay...that's why I asked... Asked for Mac salad for one of the plates. She said we don't have Mac salad and we never did. I was like, did I offend her?? Asked for all my steaks to be med rare. All was cooked thru. One my plates had the dressing on and not on the side. Wilted and soggy. My salmon was overcooked. Ugh.... Is all I can say. I got 4 plates. So disappointed. I paid almost $90.

From the moment I walked through the doors, I already noticed that the owners must have full confidence in their ability to cook because the ground, seats, AND table was dirty, crusty and filled with sand and grime. Nothing but disappointment fills my heart. My beloved food chain that I remember being filled with love and joy as a kid, being dragged through the mud and butchered in the street. Now let's get onto the food, during the very rare times there wasn't sand in my food, the bites taken were mediocre anyways. When asked for more sauce, we were met with the strange demeanor of the cashier telling us sauces were extra on the bill. The sauces in question were the size of 3 penny's stacked on top of each other. When you are paying $80+ for a meal, I would expect at least more than one sauce for our meals! Horrible experience, would not recommend for families or going alone.

Very happy with our meal here. Good food and decent portions. I wish there had been a macaroni salad option, but the salad was fresh seeming and all the meat was seasoned well, so no complaints there. The staff was very friendly and helped us with all our questions and pick up.

Wagyu? All-you-can-eat? Count me in! As big fans of Shabuya,…read morewe were intrigued at the idea of higher end hot pot at a higher end price. AYCE hot pot just warms the soul in a different way, and adding in some of the richest, fattiest cuts of meat? How can you go wrong! For a two birthday celebration, we called ahead of time to reserve a table for six. I had to call a day before our visit to reduce the head count and they were more than accommodating. When we arrived early, they seated us right away, and came around quite often to take orders. There's a 90 minute time limit, but after 90 minutes our server said oh you have 30 more if you'd like. Top notch service all around. Gyu Masu melds right into the architecture of Hilton Embassy Suites, adopting the contemporary elegance of modern hotel styling. It's very clean and quiet. The AC was a little strong, but I can imagine it would be a refreshing escape from hotter Kapolei nights. The little table got pretty tight with a full shabu shabu setup, so make sure you stack up your empty plates for service. Street parking is pretty easy out front, or find the second floor marked stalls behind the hotel. There were seven cuts of wagyu to try, and you can order four at a time. The cuts are much thicker than other hot pot places, which we loved. Here's what we thought: - Top Sirloin Butt - Had a fat line that tensed up and got noticeably tough compared to other cuts. Decent flavor. - Top Round - My favorite, perfect balance of marbling and flavor. - Short Plate - Thick fat cut that was just way too fatty for us. - Short Rib - Wow, very distinct flavor and great marbling that was an overall favorite. - Outside Skirt - Similar to short plate, so fatty and too rich. - Brisket - Fatty marbled meat, thin and tender. A bit too rich for us. - Chuck Roll - The least fatty and beefiest in flavor. Not my favorite but popular with those that like the beef! We skipped the extra cost cuts, which I'm sure are amazing, but the included meats were plenty rich and decadent. We honed in on a couple favorite cuts and reordered those throughout our meal. You can get up to two broths per pot, and we settled on miso and spicy garlic. They add wagyu tallow for amazing depth of flavor, and be careful with the spicy variants - it's got more kick than most places. Loved the broth here. Also note that they add tofu, bokchoy, cabbage, and mushroom to the broth, so you can skip those in your first round. Gotta say, the nabe ingredients do feel a little lacking compared to other places. "Mixed Mushrooms" were only quartered brown mushrooms - would be nice to have oyster, wood ear, or seafood mushrooms mixed in. Ramen, udon, and rice are staple starch options, but nothing special here like fresh or konjac noodles. Fish and shrimp are awesome options, but I regretted getting even one order of salmon, it was way too much (like a big 6in filet). The cooked kitchen items are also mostly a trap. Be very careful about what you order, it's probably better to focus on the shabu wagyu for value. We had a couple of good items but were disappointed in others. - Wagyu Pupu Steak - DELISH. Not the most tender, but absolutely popping with flavor and garnished with zesty green onions. - Fried Shrimp Dumplings - Brah these shumai have big, juicy shrimp pieces and are fried til the wrappers are nice and crispy. Recommend. - Ahi Poke - Previously frozen and stringy. The sauce was good, but the icy, low quality fish was not. - Lemon Ginger Opakapaka - Dry, hard, severely overcooked. The seasoning has a strong artificial flavor. Skip this one. You also get a free soft drink, which includes a variety of lemonade/limeade mixes. The limeades were very sour, and we had lilikoi, strawberry, and li hing flavors. Wonderful perk. They also brought out slices of Japanese Style Souffle Cheesecake, two since we had two birthdays! Very light and fluffy texture with a rich and smooth cheesecake flavor, enhanced by a honey sauce that is brighter and sweeter than most. Very generous, as these are normally $5.50 per slice, but we would absolutely pay full price to get these again. At $65 per person, it's a great deal, considering how many different wagyu cuts we got to try, and how many extra side options they have. It's an indulgent experience that is hard to treat like traditional hot pot, as the meat is exquisitely rich and hard to eat mountains of. I can't see it being a regular dining choice, but it's absolutely a worthwhile journey for special celebrations, or simply exploring high-end dishes at an affordable price.

It was too twisted, fusion, modified etc. i prefer a mai tai a plain old fashioned mai tai without the fixings. The orange foam was too strong it overwhelmed the dark rum im used to and prefer. So i decided to try the ube rey instead which was much better but still not as much to my liking/preferences. Went back to Aulani a but bummed and decided to get another at Aulani the next day instead and I will say, i liked it better as it followed the more traditional way of making it. So if you prefer traditional ways, this may not be for you and if planning to drink, simply keep with the simplier generic drinks, wine or beer. If you prefer to try different ways and flavors, then you will love this. Service was great and our server was attentive at all times. Thank you. Ambiance was good but outdoor seating may be a bit of a nuance due to flies swarming around you often. The swinging table fan helps but are still annoying plus the tropical heat also didn't help.

Tried this food truck for the first time at the What the Truck in Waikele. They are only at the…read morewaikele event on the first Fridays. We ordered the Cajun garlic butter shrimp and the lemon beurre blanc ahi. Both plates were really tasty! Fresh ahi, and the shrimp was cleaned. Plates came with potato mac salad and rice. The owner was very friendly as well! They sold out of the bao buns early otherwise we would've tried those too. Those looked delicious. We'll definitely be back!

We had Bobby cater our wedding in November and the food was such a hit! We would recommend them…read moreover and over again! Our experience with Bobby started with private a tasting in their lounge of a few of the things we were hoping to have on our menu. We tried two mains, a salad and a few sides... when I say everything was a smash it, i really mean it! Our package included a third main and we honestly told him he could pick what to bring because obviously he knows how to cook- it'd be impossible to choose! For our wedding we had the kalbi shortribs, garlic shrimp, and huli huli chicken for our mains. Our salad was the one with the warm bacon dressing (OMG DELICIOUS), and we also had truffle mashed potatoes, a ratatouille, rice and i think 3 appetizers. It was ALL so good. Our guests have been raving about it since. Not only was the food to die for, but also the service before and during the wedding too! we had a few dietary restrictions to accommodate and Bobby was so easy to work with and already had ideas ready to go. Then there's the wait staff - who brought my husband and I full plates of everything first, before anyone else. So many people say they don't get to eat at their own weddings and they made sure that DIDNT happen to us. I was still so anxious that I didn't clear my plate but everything i DID eat was just as good as the tasting. The staff stayed and helped my coordinator for the rest of the night as well. After dinner they boxed up all the leftover food for us to take home and I was so happy for that! Since I didn't eat a ton at my own wedding I got to house all of the leftovers with our families. The taste, the value, the service... it really can't be beat. We've already decided we'll be tracking down his foodtruck whenever we can!
