Amazing! I came in with my partner for dinner and we both had the Onori Signature Set Menu. We picked this place because my partner is allergic to shellfish and they're allergy friendly here. We were able to swap out his blue crab roll for a salmon roll (which he loved btw). The service was quick, friendly and knowledgeable- shoutout to Daniel! Onori is a pretty little place hidden in a strip mall near the Promenade mall. I loved the fish, the quality reminded me of Sugarfish in L.A.. Me and my husband have been to a lot of Handroll bars in LA and SD, and this one was the best out of all of them including the famous ones like Kazunori. I would probably compare the quality and taste to sugarfish, everything was exceptional and some of the flavor combinations pleasantly surprised us. My favorite ones were spicy soft shell crab handroll ( comes with amazing sauce) , toro sushi , and honestly all the handrolls from their handroll combo were absolutely delish. tried this spot for their $40 signature omakase, which includes 2 handrolls and the rest in nigiri or sashimi. the rice was a bit too warm and mushy, which threw off the balance. instead of complementing the fish, it kind of overpowered it.. it just wasn't quite right. i also noticed the nigiri rice was being shaped by a machine (you can actually see it at the bar), which lacked that handcrafted touch you'd hope for in an omakase experience. i get that it helps with labor, but it definitely affects the overall feel. service was okay, but a bit all over the place. they forgot which pieces we had already been served, which made the flow feel kind of chaotic. also, they didn't have hot sake available even though it was on the menu. they said their hot sake machine was not working. overall, i'd give it a 6.5/10. not terrible, but not something i'd come back for. if you're looking for an elegant or more traditional omakase experience, this might not be it. decent-ish fish, but the little things added up. read more

This is absolutely our new favorite hand roll/sushi restaurant in Temecula. The service was incredible as soon as we walked in, everyone was smiley and accommodating instantaneously! We ordered about 3 hand rolls each and about 2 cut rolls and an order of edamame. The food came out so fast and there was no denying how fresh everything was. Overpriced and incorrect description of restaurant. Ordered the chutoro and red snapper nigiri. Red snapper was so-so. The chutoro wasn't even chutoro, it was akami. Server went back to double-check with chef whom incorrectly confirmed it was chutoro. Not sure if chef was purposefully trying to pull a fast one or an honest mistake. But was very absurd. Those who know chutoro know chutoro. This was bright ruby red. The rice also fell apart as I lightly dipped the nigiri in soy sauce. Also, in general, highly overpriced. I would have at least been able to say that I liked that they went with the idea of going with traditional menu items. But then you got handrolls (which are not Japanese at all) but they made them Japanese sized and charged full-price LOL. read more

The place wasn't crowded at all, and there was plenty of open space at the bar, so we sat there expecting quick service. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Even though multiple servers were walking by, it took quite a while before someone came by to take our order. Throughout the night we had to repeatedly ask for basic things, like water refills, even when our cups were clearly empty and placed right in front of them on the bar. At one point, no one checked on us for so long that we actually had to flag someone down just to ask if we could order more food. This was disappointing because our first visit here was much better, so it feels like the service has really gone downhill. Maybe assigning specific bar sections to each server would help ensure guests actually receive the attention and service we're tipping for.
