Continuing on to find a go to Chinese restaurant that I can frequent led me to this place. This place is a couple of miles from my home, so that is a plus. I was excited that they offered a two item dinner combo. I called the restaurant to put my order in. The woman who answered the phone was very friendly and promised my food would be ready in 10 minutes. I went with lemon chicken and Szechuan beef. The meal includes fried rice and an egg roll. I arrived at the restaurant in a few minutes, and my order was waiting for me. I was greeted by a friendly employee, and quickly paid. I didn't dine in this time but the restaurant was clean and spacious. I like the decor as well. The fried rice was unique and slightly different than what I had in the past. I tried the lemon chicken first. It was a generous size and was crispy and light. It paired well with the lemon sauce. The Szechuan beef was just okay. I wish it had been spicer. Lastly, the egg roll was great. I will definitely be coming back here again soon to try their other entrees. read more

It's on entering, you're greeted friendly by the hostess and seating is without delay or wait. There is general seating and booths and tables. Waitress staff is friendly, well attended the menu. Has a nice menu variety along with combination dinners available. Appetizers are also excellent. The food served here is tasty, made with fresh ingredients, and I serve top. This is probably one of the premier Chinese restaurants that that I have enjoyed dining in and over a decade I love this restaurant, family owned, and good value for price with portions, and staff is always friendly and service is fast. Always great service and very clean. I ordered the lunch special sweet and sour chicken with fried rice that comes with egg drop soup and an egg roll. The soup was rich and delicious and the fried noodles were fresh and crispy. You can tell they hand make the sweet and sour chicken. It was crispy and juicy and delicious. My only complaint is there are no veggies that come with sweet and sour chicken. I wish they would at least include bell peppers. read more

We decided to try this place and sadly I regret doing so. Reading the reviews I was very excited because I haven't had 'Chinese' food in a while and this place has a huge following behind it... my family and I ended up getting sick. We each had a chicken meal and we each had beef so we aren't sure what exactly made us sick. I did find some pieces of beef in mine that were undercooked (still pink) but I'm used to medium/ medium rare steaks so I didn't think much of it but it could have been that. Flavor was just "meh". The lemon sauce for the lemon chicken just tasted like chemical, no real lemon which was a bummer. The sauce on the beef just tasted like brown gravy, not Mongolian beef. I've also never had fried rice like this. I'm not sure, maybe this place just wasn't up to my taste but I wouldn't come back here. read more

Great lunch menu variety for only $9.99! Had triple delight with chicken, beef and Shrimp with mix of broccoli, onion, carrots, baby corn, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts. Too many water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and baby corn for my liking--I just pulled them Out and not very much beef, shrimp or chicken nor broccoli either but the brown sauce was very tasty but much too msg. The rice was very bland so I had to add plenty of soy sauce and then it got too salty as well. However, the crab Rangoons were wonderfully fried just right and full of cream cheese. I was craving Chinese food and had heard good things about Oolong from neighbors. So my husband and I decided to try this place out. Service was great. Our server started out a little serious but as our meal progressed and she checked on us she got more friendly and by the time we were done she was joking with us and laughing. The food was not bad and after reading other reviews that the lomein was flavorless, was pleasantly surprised to find that they in fact had a decent amount of flavor. I just wish that it had a bit more chicken than it did. The husband liked the fried rice and overall it was a good experience. Definitely plan to go back and try some other dishes. read more

Me and the family went out for dinner at Oolong. It's been a few years since I visited Oolong due to the pandemic and I was happy to be back at one of my favor spots. The food was good. I had the dinner special which included a choice of several select meats and or vegetables with fried rice and egg roll or crab meat rangoon. I had the sesame chicken and mongolian beef. The chicken was great. Tasty and with a hint of spicy and sweet. The beef was not as tender as I would have liked and lacked the robust stir fry flavor I was looking for. Overall Oolong continues to be a excellent spot in Helotes for Chinese food. I think the beef was just off today. read more

The place is called oolong which is a type of tea. That was very good and then the food arrived. I got kung po chicken which actually had no chicken meat it was a plate of chicken skin chunks fried a bit to look like chicken meat. That's really pathetic. Avoid this place and eat real food somewhere else. Unless you like having a nice glass of tea in a nice room. Plus they couldn't rush you out of this place fast enough. read more

We had a really long wait at another local restaurant so we checked them out. Glad we did. We were quickly seated even though they were by their own admission quite busy for a Sunday night. Drinks and order taken quickly by Michelle who gave us great service all night. Had an order of egg rolls that came out quickly. Hot and fresh but overall pretty plain. My wife had chicken lo mein and I had Szechuan chicken. Both of the entree orders were huge. Had excellent portions in the restaurant and plenty to take home. The chicken with both was breast meat and very large pieces and portions. My Szechuan had excellent spice to it, some of the mushrooms were overdone but overall still very good. My wife was pleased with her selection as well. The menu had a lot of variety and cost was quite reasonable. We will definitely be back for another visit. read more

Oolong does a really good job with the plates they have to offer. Some of the family favorites are the Lemon Chicken, Sesame Chicken and the Kung Pao Chicken. Definitely disappointed in the quality of this dish. I'm glad I didn't order anything else, because of a Chinese restaurant can't get chicken lo mein right, then what are the other dishes like?
