I try to sneak in before the rush for my favorite brunch sandwich - the stracciatella and prosciutto. They offer incredibly fresh and high quality ingredients. I always peek at what they have for sale at the deli, everything looks amazing. The staff is friendly and don't ever seem overwhelmed when it's busier. Parking could be a little troublesome with the popular Vic and Al's and Dai Due right next door, but it's worth spinning the block a few times. Would highly recommend!

The area is quite small but I went at 10:30 on a Tuesday and it wasn't too crowded. The front parking is horrid but there's also parking in the back. I tried the turkish eggs and the mortadella sandwich. We wanted to try the cookie as well but they unfortunately had sold out because of a large order before us. Very sad but maybe another time. Turkish eggs: 3.5/5 The eggs were perfectly cooked and the chili oil had nice garlic flavor. The bread was lovely quality. The sauce wasn't my favorite and I don't think it paired well together but it wasn't bad. Mortadella sandwich: 4.5/5 This was the star of the show. The bread is great and the pesto brightens the sandwich up. The arugula is a nice touch and the cheese is delicate. There's a ton of meat which I appreciated. There's one guy with a mustache who might have just been having a bad day but his energy was off putting, however all the other people were very nice.

I wanted to get this for my book club soiree, but did not have time to make a visit as it is a little north of downtown. Antonelli's Cheese Shop is charming and quaint. While the shop is small they have an assortment of items to sell in addition to cheese - wine, sauces, jellies, etc. I was immediately greeted upon entry into Antonelli's cheese shop. Two other customers were being helped, however, I had a store associate offer me some cheese samples. While the samples were good, I was specifically interested in the three cream cheese. They had two choices to select from. I was hoping they had more. This is a shop you need to spend some time in to leisurely evaluate the cheeses. There was also a human size dog in the shop at the time. I don't know what is about dogs, they like to lick me. Guess what...I do not like to be licked. So, I jetted out of the store.

What's the best brunch spot in Austin? Some say that spot might be Paperboy. It must be up to me to…read morecome to that conclusion. My beautiful girlfriend, traveling home from Vancouver, had a morning layover in Austin just recently on a weekday, and I got us a reservation to Paperboy East. Compared to the weekends, their schedule was a lot more open. On the weekends it can be nearly impossible to get a spot unless it's a few weeks in advance. We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. I am a sucker for a homemade Pop Tart, and the jam on the inside was extremely fresh, and the icing and crust of the Pop Tart itself was sturdy and full of flavor. For our entrees, I ordered their Texas Hash with added avocado while my girlfriend ordered their famous Paperboy Pancake with chocolate chips as a full breakfast with bacon and two over-hard eggs. It wasn't a long wait at all to get our food. The Texas hash looked great and was presented quite nicely, which is a shame because I immediately proceeded to mash it all together to make sure every bite had a perfect balance of the roasted pork, sweet potatoes, egg, and avocado. It was very filling and substantial, which is great because I needed it to last me up to dinner. The pancake is the star of the show and is worth the order alone. The flying saucer they serve rises like a cake in the oven and is extremely fluffy. She was surprised with how it was a traditional pancake but loved how moist it was for its size. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. I've had a few of the locally owned brunch and breakfast spots in Austin and concur with the masses that this sits strongly at the top of the list. Best pancakes, best atmosphere, and the best times. RIYL: Good vibes served with maple syrup

The ambiance in here is warm and inviting, there is a lot of natural light in here. It did get a little hot sitting at the table near the door but otherwise it felt nice in here. I ordered the chicken & biscuit along with a cheddar hash brown. I thought the food was pretty pricey but again this is Austin. The chicken was crispy, but a bit more crispy than you think it is. I had some parts where I felt like I was eating chicken jerky but the flavor was nice. I enjoyed the hot honey sauce on the chicken. The biscuit was harder than I expected it to be. Overall the food here was fine, a bit on the pricier side. Also, the parking here is limited as it is all street parking in an alley.

I thought it was odd that they would be closed on weekends when people have the time to shop along with being closed before people get off work. But those hours make sense when you realize they produce for distribution, not dine in. There's almost 30 reviews so far, but I was surprised that not a single one of them included any photos. If you're coming to this part of town, parking is always a concern in this area. The good news is that there are about eight places to park at here, otherwise you'll have to park in the street, but at least there's no kiosks. As soon as you pull in, the air is filled with that familiar smoky aroma. However, once you step inside, you suddenly realize that this is not a place you can dine in. Basically the first 10 feet of hallway is where the customer service takes place. There is a cold case with all of their sausages on display, including a little beef jerky, and that's it. I have to admit I wish they had brisket and ribs too. They do make a tamale-based sausage for Christmas as a seasonal item. The prices are very reasonable and there is no tip screen. This is not just a grab and go operation, their sausages can be found in virtually every H-E-B. So the good news is that you can find them here or at your favorite H-E-B. Check out the nine photos included.
