I love supporting local business especially ones that sell local produce and meats and all things local! They have a variety of produce that you will not find at Whole Foods/central market. Think of this place as a brick and mortar farmers market. The staff are helpful and friendly. They do not accept cash and it's self checkout. They keep it simple but the quality of the meats are incredible and can't wait to taste mine when I get home tonight.

Very impressed with their selection. Lovely grocery shop with a robust selection of organic goods. I was able to find fresh lion's mane, sparking water with adaptogens, and pistachio butter.

We came, completely on a whim (like, we were driving by and just pulled in), for lunch this past Saturday and had such fabulous time. It feels like "old Austin" has frozen in time here. The place reeks of fish (ofc!) and the whole vibe is this odd-like Margaritaville-hospital cafeteria-fish market mash up. Magically, it all somehow works. We ordered at the counter and happily sat at the table with our beers taking the whole scene in. If we're being honest, the food is just OK. The fried catfish that our daughter ordered honestly tasted like it had been refrozen and it was bland. Our fresh fish--the blackened drum and the grilled trout--were excellent, though, so that made it for it in the piscine category. As for side, there were highs and there were lows. We doubt that they make the hush puppies from scratch, but damn, they were good. We were also happy with the fried okra and the spaghetti squash that they had on special. Green beans are wet and canned, and the side salad is the usual bagged kind of stuff. Actually, they had this very unique mac-n-cheese situation that was made with spaghetti(!) and had a broiled cheese lid that we were not mad at. We're not going to pretend that this was any kind of A+ "quality seafood" situation. It's not. But there is a VIBE and we were there for it and there is a massive shark that is hanging from the ceiling wearing Mardi Gras beads. C'mon! This is the Austin we know and love! We will be back--whether to buy fish or for taco night or who knows, but we will be back. Four grateful stars.

The special of the day was delicious. It was grilled trout topped with crabmeat. Fish was cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was creamy and hot. The fried okra was hot and fresh. The blackened catfish was perfectly seasoned. The collards were ok. The only negative is that the wine was $7 in a tiny glass. When asked about buying a bottle we were told it was $18 plus an additional $7 corkage fee. Quality is aptly named.

Deli Rating: 3.8/5 [take out]…read more It was around 8 PM and we were just browsing the deli section when we noticed they were making combo bowls and placing them on the $6.99 shelf. We picked one up with pork ribs, roasted pork belly, bok choy, and white rice. It felt like a great deal, and since we hadn't tried the food here before, we figured why not. If you want to choose your meats, you can order directly at the counter. My husband got the 2 BBQ meat combo ($12.99) with roasted pork belly and honey BBQ pork. It came with bok choy and fried rice. The rice was pretty dry, but the meats were all equally good. The roasted pork belly is much better if you air-fry it and dip it in the sauce. The food is definitely on the unhealthy side, so my stomach wasn't too happy afterward, but nothing major. Overall, I still think this is a solid option if you're pressed for time.

I got their ham & cheese pastries and a hot Taro latte which made a great snack on the way back home.

And I had no idea just how "getting going on it" my friend was. He was having a good time out there, chatting with folks about his aquatic product. I purchased a couple combo packs and vamoosed forthwith. The first time I tried the weed, I didn't rinse it, and I just snacked on it. It tasted a bit too salty, but that was also kind of interesting because it reminded me of being at the beach! Later on, I found out he was selling via Wheatsville, so I purchased a package from there. What I like about the way he packages his stuff is this: 1) there is plenty of veggie goodness in there; I snack on it by myself and by itself, and it's a very filling salad; you may want to use it as two or three portions for a more varied salad or soup 2) the packaging is made of bio-plastic, so there's no question of how to dispose of it; no matter what, it's just going to break down out there in a not-so-bad way My later snackings on the seaweed have been improved in my opinion because I've started lightly rinsing the product before tasting. With just a hint of saltiness, you can really appreciate the texture and inherent flavor of the plant. YUM!

I know Daily Juice has them, and I heard Wheatsville too. Honestly, the guy who sells this stuff is a genius. Like a modern day Renaissance man, this guy does it all. C'mon, he's like a mad scientist farming at his small headquarters (which I hope he calls his lair) and bringing it fresh to all of us. Almost like a sea weed Jesus. If you read his blog/website (http://austinseaveggies.com/) he sounds like a cool dude. Maybe one day we'll cross paths, party and talk about science. Who knows? Its possible.

First off the reservations were pretty open mid-week; I had booked for Tuesday several weeks ahead of time but then had some plans shift and was able to change my reservation to Wednesday just a couple days ahead of time with no issues. We walked in through the front as the back entrance wasn't really obvious from the parking lot (which is quite small), but that was cool as we got to walk by the deli counter and see the meat and pickled veggies etc that were for sale. Our server was great, very helpful in suggesting items, explaining the menu, and answering any questions we had. On her suggestion we started with the sauteed mushroom appetizer but also requested the black garlic butter to be added on the side (I don't think there was an up charge) and this was a great choice! The mushrooms were tender but with a nice bite and super flavorful. We also got the grilled oysters- I forgot exactly what was in the sauce it had miso and something else, but it was so rich and flavorful! I couldn't decide what was the best between the two apps they were both amazing. The husband ordered the antelope over regular fries (as he doesn't like sweet potatoes) which they were happy to accommodate. It was delicious- tender and perfectly cooked with the chive butter on top. I had never had antelope before and found it very pleasant, not very gamey but with a slightly different flavor than beef. I got the quail over grits with a creole sauce and sauteed kale- amazing! It comes with two quail that I think were spatchcocked- the only bones were in the legs and wings so you could eat it easily. The grits were creamy and the sauce with the kale and quail was delicious. I was able to finish my whole meal but was pretty stuffed at the end! Our waitress encouraged us to get a dessert but when we declined brought us out a bowl of chai ice cream to share as she said she wasn't going to let us leave on our anniversary without a treat! All in all a great experience, only complaints are that they don't serve cocktails (there are plenty of local Texas liquors to choose from!) but we did enjoy a glass of wine, and then went next door to Vic and Als after dinner for a dessert cocktail!

I would have tried the food as well, but I had dinner plans elsewhere and it's a little pricey so I didn't get anything. That said, the guy next to me got one of their steaks and said it was one of the best he'd had, so that's high praise! I got a small glass (like 2 ounces) of the mead which is $5. It's expensive for how little you get but the flavor is just lovely -- as good as any dessert wine I've had! I could definitely drink a glass of it any time. They have lots of tables inside but the parking is a little limited outside. The day I came there was plenty because it was early and it was still pretty empty inside (just one or two other groups there), but on a busy night I imagine you'd end up having to get street parking nearby or something. Bathrooms were immaculate in here though, and the ambiance is nice! Not "super fancy," but definitelty more upscale than casual. Overall it strikes me as a nice date spot! A little expensive, but I'm sure the food is great, and can confirm the drinks are definitely very nice.
