Here for a conference, so my husband and I sat at the bar for lunch. Our server/bartender, Stephanie was friendly and attentive. I ordered one of their signature drinks, a fresh berry mule which absolutely delicious. The fruit compote is made in house with seasonal fruit and this was the best mule I've tasted hands down. My husband ordered his usual double Captain and diet, which he felt to be on the weaker side. We both ordered the chicken gumbo: it arrived in a small crock and was delicious! Great mix of ingredients and impressed that it was made with chicken andouille and not the traditional pork . The accompanying baguette was perfectly toasted and the perfect hot temperature; I didn't use the butter at all. A bit pricey but expected as this is a hotel bar/restaurant. read more

In Overland Park on business and didn't want to leave the Sheraton property. OP 1906 Bar and Grill was a spacious lounge and restaurant. They were able to accommodate a conference guests and single diners, such as myself. The menu was not like typical hotel food. It appeared that the dishes on the menu were designed with appeal. I chose the Parmesan crusted chicken. It was the savory comfort food selection that I needed after a long traveling day. The service was great and they were busy. Just finished checking in at the Sheraton after a long travel day and I am super pleasantly surprised that the restaurant here at the hotel had delicious food AND good wine. I ordered the 1906 salad, it's a steak salad with blue cheese, pickle onion and blueberry lavender vinaigrette... The combination is sooo good! If you like lavender you have got to try this, I've never had a salad like this before. I paired it with the Troublemaker red blend, it has darker notes which offsets the sweeter vinaigrette to make a really yummy mixture on the palette. read more

I had a friend in town and she was staying the Shertaton hotel while visiting. After a long day of travel, she wanted go grab dinner but didn't want to go too far from the hotel. We decided it would be easiest to check out the OP 1906 which is located inside of the Sheraton. This cool environment serves more than just appetizers, salads, & soups, this restaurant also serves entree items like Blackened Salmon and Beef Wellington. A table favorite was the Gumbo! For dessert, try the Carmel Apple Gooey Butter Cake. If you are staying at the Sheraton, I'd recommend eating here at least one of the nights. What a glorious experience I had at OP 1906. When I was invited for dinner and drinks at a hotel bar, I was dubious, but the entire experience was just delightful. I honestly forgot I was even inside a hotel. Our server was absolutely delightful. She made craft cocktails for us, recommended delicious menu items, and had "personality plus"! I live in the area but I will definitely be back to OP1906. It's a beautiful restaurant and bar in a central location. I am happy to have discovered this local gem in my own backyard. read more

We drove in from Olathe this morning at 9:00 after looking up the hotel restaurant on Google. We noticed that it opened pretty early and decided to come work and eat. When we arrived we were not greeted at the door and went straight to the bar. A very rude lady comes out and tells us that the bar is closed and we noted the sign at the entrance with the restaurant hours(6:30am-11:30am). The lady apologizes and says that they are closed. We were confused and left the establishment after pointing out the sign that said open. Be aware this does not seem to have a diverse friendly culture as a blind haired lady followed and watched us all the way to our car. read more

Food: C- Service: F- If I could give OP 1906 a lower rating than 1, I would. It's KC Restaurant Week, and my husband and I were thrilled to see that OP 1906 was taking part. We had never gone before and wanted to try it out. Never. Again. There were very few people in the restaurant, and initially someone poured our water. Unfortunately, he wasn't our waiter. Our waitress came a bit later and took our order. Remember - this is during Restaurant Week. There's a pre-set menu. A good 15 minutes later, our first courses came out. The food runner didn't know where our table was and tried to give it to a table that hadn't even ordered it. We guided her in the right direction. While the gumbo was delicious, my kale salad was missing some of the ingredients. Frustrating. Then we waited. And we waited. And we waited. And we waited. Almost an hour after we sat down, we finally received our food. During this time, we saw our waitress once. The Chicken and Waffles were fine but missing many of the ingredients listed. For example, the maple bourbon glaze was really just maple syrup. The burger was tasteless. When Red Robin can provide a better burger, you know something is wrong. The other tables around us had a similar experience. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Thirty minutes after we received our second course, we had to ask for a check. Their excuse was that it was just a busy day and that they weren't expecting a conference to eat there. Considering the conference attendees had just sat down in the last 10 minutes AND one of the chefs came out to chat for 10 minutes with one of her friends, I would say that's a load of lies. Would I ever go back? No. Was the food worth it? No. Would I ever recommend anyone else go here? No way. McDonald's is better than OP 1906 at this point. (Yeah, it was really that bad) read more

Happy hour: not on Friday nights. The blue lighting job behind the bar is cool. The hanging pendant lights are too. As are the tv's with which you can watch Duke get crushed, like they need to be destroyed in March Madness to obliterate the hopes and dreams of all people who fanboy Duke to death, whether or not they academically could have been accepted into Duke. Other than that: overpriced like an airport bar for a weak cocktail. If you are staying at the Sheraton or nearby in the convention center it is close. But other places are a few blocks away, better, and cheaper if you are willing to walk or you have a car. read more

John Taffer could really help this place. I bought a mango martini for my wife that came in a wine glass with two cherries instead of a martini glass. She's said it was really good and got me one. The second martini did come in a martini glass, instead of a wine glass but was garnished with an orange slice. My wife ordered a second martini at the same time and it was served in a champaign flute with no garnish at all. I want consistency in what I order. Two drinks on the same menu should be the same regardless of which mixologist makes it. Also, martini's should be served in martini glasses, wine in a wine glass, etc... The drinks were really good, just not consistently the same. The drink menu was very long, pages. It had one entire page just for martini's. I would like a simplified drink menu, one-two pages both front and back. If they have 50 "signature" drinks there is no consistency and if I walk up to a bar in a hotel for a mixed drink, I want it to be quick and easy. The last thing you want after a long day is to make even more decisions. Just give me something that tastes good (they did) and if I want a second one make it the same as the first (they did not). I know very little about mixed drinks. Don't make them at home and very rarely order them. The easier they make the process and product the better. I do know that. read more

Their breakfasts are delish! My friend got their hot/cold buffet & I ordered off the menu. We were both impressed, with the selection and taste of the food. As seasoned business travelers, things can tend to taste the same, but we were also incredibly impressed with the kind attentiveness of their staff. The only downside is if you order off the menu, expect to waittt...that part was no bueno, especially if someone needs to catch a morning meeting/event. The service was just "okay." What really gives this bar/restaurant a bad score was the service. The waitress wasn't to pleasant. Considering the majority of its customers being hotel guests, you would think the staff would be a lot more pleasant and tourist-ecentric. This wasn't the case however. Instead, we were attended to by a seemingly unhappy waitress/cocktail server who showed zero desire to smile. The crab cakes on the other hand, were delightful! Paired with a few brews and a montage of fellow Raiders fans, college football on the numerous screens, and a handful of Raider legends, really made this place a win. read more

You've gotta start with the crab cakes!!! OMG, they are AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! I stayed at the hotel while in town on business. The staff at the bar & grille are super nice and take great care of you. And, whoever the wizard is in the kitchen that is whipping up their food, they are brilliant. I'm a huge foodie and a former chef, so I know good food from great cuisine. This is great cuisine. Yes, it's a little pricey, but it's worth it. Heck, treat yourself and your taste buds for a change. And, personally, I think the BBQ beans that come with the smoked chicken are better than the "famous beans" at Jack Stack BBQ. And believe me, that says something. So, order a cocktail and start with some crab cakes, then you be the judge from there. You won't be disappointed. read more

Hotel restaurants are usually a convenience, so isn't it nice to find one with a bit of top-drawer cuisine that would be worthwhile even if you were a local looking for a nice place to eat? My duroc pork chop was perfectly prepared and dressed with sides that were also perfectly prepared. Baby Brussels and a top grade bacon bit, and a pair of jalapeño hush puppies to provide flavor and kick. They have one of the better bars on the area with a big, spacious, comfortable seating area that's fine for chilling with friends and hanging if you're not looking for loud/music. The staff is great. My only star ding is management front of the house. At 8:30 on a Friday night your dining room, not just the bar, should be open. Treating great food like it was the usual third-rate hotel fare diminishes the product that your kitchen puts out. More respect to the chef, some marketing to the local clientele, and parking for the restaurant, should make this a place a frequent spot for local foodies. read more

Came here on a Sunday after a flight and checking into a hotel down the road a bit with a group at a class for work. It was about 4 in the afternoon so no real surprises that there was nobody there. We were noticed and seated and the waitress took orders and got us water and drinks in pretty good time. I got a burger and fries. It was decent, no complaints but nothing to write home about. Great service, no problems splitting up the bill properly for our party of 6. Some of the other options on the menu look great so I may be back. read more

#KCRW2017. I ate the BLT Panzanella Salad, BBQ Shepherds Pie, and Carmel Apple Gooey Butter Cake. I loved the salad, very crisp and refreshing...it was like a deconstructed BLT. The shepherds pie was ok, but it needed a gravy or sauce, it was a little dry. Finally the cake was good; very moist and not too sweet. Probably a good choice if you're staying in the hotel, but otherwise I wouldn't go back. read more

This restaurant was amazing. I went during restaurant week 2017 and was very impressed. The waitress I had was amazing, she was very friendly and constantly checked in. The meal was one of the best meals I ever had. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the bread pudding was weird yet tasty. The chefs they have are literally 5 star. My only concern was the hostess who wasn't too informed about anything. I called while out side to inquire about parking. We were at this hotel restaurant on a quiet night. The service was good but the food was superb and very hot. I had the salmon, which it was excellent, and I loved the wild rice side. My date had the the scallops and creamed corn. I sampled it and loved it - maybe next visit I'll have that. Gluten free options are noted on the menu with out asking, neat. read more

Tried to go here for a new lunch place during Kc restaurant week. Menu items looked tasty and the location looks trendy and fun. As soon as we walked up to be seated we were informed the kitchen was only open from 12-2 and 5-10 even though their restaurant week listing had no time info on it. To add insult to injury we had walked up at 2:05, and the entire restaurant was empty but they made no effort to accommodate us. The person behind the bar was rude and short in her explanation. Looks like this place thinks it's a little too big for itself, you're an empty restaurant in a hotel lobby for gosh sakes. Won't even attempt to come again. This restaurant is in the Sheraton OP at the convention center. We had Easter Brunch here and I can tell you I will be going back next year. When we arrived we were greeted by the Easter Bunny and a desk where they took your payment first. I found this to be extremely convenient, gratuity was included and now we could enjoy and leave at our leisure. Held in the hotels large banquet room, tables were spaciously set which allowed a lot of room for walking to and from the buffet, especially if you are with elderly who need that room to get around easily. The buffet was beautifully set with Ice carvings and Easter Lilies on every table....OK, OK, lets get down to the food. Besides the fabulous array of breakfast items, the crispy bacon, omelets and pancakes made to order, waffles, yogurts and a display of wonderful breads, crusty French and country Rustic types, I rounded the buffet to find Jumbo shrimp, crab legs cut if half, oysters on the half shell and a chafing dish filled with mussels, clams, oysters in a wonderful sauce/broth. I was in heaven...almost, because rounding the next side of the buffet was the carving section, Leg of lamb, which I did not try but looked incredible and next to that was Beef Wellington...after working for a major hotel chain for 18 years, I thought I would never have another beef wellington as good as theirs..until now. Perfectly cooked beef tenderloin smothered with mushroom duxelles, wrapped in puff pastry and baked to a golden brown...and then, they ask if I would like a little of the Cognac demi glaze over it. Wow! Is all I can really say is Wow. I went back for seconds. Moving on down the line to the carved Snapper, and a chafing dish filled with pork tenderloin with brussel sprouts, fork tender and I can't remember the sauce but it was outstanding. Oh, did I forget the Mahi mahi? Also a very lightly crusted Mahi Mahi. Bring the kids too, they had a really nice kiddie buffet with corn dogs, mac n cheese and other things I can't remember because I am watching these kids have a blast at the ice cream station with a candy display for toppings. Just ouside the door was another dessert display with a chocolate fountain an array of petit fours, bite size cheese cakes, cake pops in pastel colors, my inner Willy Wonka came out in extreme excitement. Everyone in my party was all oooh and aaaahh and enjoyed it immensely. The servers were friendly and attentive. Great restaurant for exceptional food especially for a hotel restaurant. Typically hotels just provide mediocre food but it's apparent that the Sheraton prides themselves in their food quality and presentation. Must try the Salmon Salad and the Salmon Sandwich. Salmon has a pastrami rub and it all melts in your mouth. And enjoy it with a glass of Souverain wine. You won't regret it! read more
