We had a good, quick evening meal. Our server was quick to stop by and greet us to let us know she'd be back soon. I like having a moment to get settled in at the table. She came back and took our drink orders and was back in a short time to take our food orders. Mom went with the Cuban sandwich and cole slaw. I had the Patty Melt with curly fries. There were a few tables that mostly already had their food, so it didn't take long for ours to arrive. Mom's Cuban was not really a Cuban sandwich. It might have had a few ingredients that you'd see on a Cuban, but it was not a Cuban. It was certainly edible, but needs a new name to avoid confusing expectations and reality. I had a small taste of the red pepper aoli on the sandwich and I liked it; she wasn't a big fan of the sauce. She liked the cole slaw, but it did have a different "flair" to it that I can't exactly pin point. I'm not a fan of celery seeds, so my tiny taste of it won't count. My curly fries were typical out-of-the-freezer fries. I'm not surprised, but they seemed to be the bottom of the bag with mostly tiny pieces. They had been overcooked a tad, which I appreciate them not being soggy, but they were just a tiny bit overly crunchy (likely because of them being tiny pieces), so they were a bit dry and could have used salt. Our table didn't have salt, I'm sure I could have requested salt since I did see some at another table. I made do with the ketchup. My sandwich was good. My preference would have been for the bread to have been toasted/grilled. It maybe had been grilled a bit, but not in a crispy way I'm used to for a patty melt. The burger was tasty and the grilled onions and mushrooms were really good. The dining room has high top tables at the entrance, then low top tables and booths if you go down a few steps to another area. They do have a door that is at street level to the lower dining area for guests who have difficulty with stairs. We don't end up in Shawnee for meals very often these days, but we appreciated the good service. The food was not bad; there are things we'd order differently, but it certainly was edible and not of poor quality. read more

Had a retirement party here. I needed a space big enough, wanted a bar and restrooms attached. This seemed to be perfect. It was hard to get a response from the email posted on the website to start. They finally reached out and date, time and menu were set. The ladies hosting the party for me arrived early. They mentioned the restrooms were dirty and no one ever cleaned them as requested. One of them had to ask her husband to bring cleaning items from home so she could clean it herself. They finally set up the buffet but no plates or silverware and we had to ask for both. The bartender (best part of the evening) found some small plates to start us and then they finally found some regular size plates. The food was just okay according to most of the guest. The bar in the event space was not set up to serve anything but a few beers on tap so the single bartender had to keep running to the other bar for drinks. Most of the guest ended up going to the main bar to get a drink. The place also smells of sewer and we tried to cover some of it with room spray and candles. The owner of this property should be held responsible and made to fix the sewer issue. In the end I would never recommend this place for hosting an event. Walking in, it was dark but I like that. Workers swore quite proficiently with several f-bombs being hollered loudly. Food was hot and fresh. My friend enjoyed her garlic parm wings and onion rings. The quesadilla was excellent. Potato boats were actually potato skins and not wedges -excellent surprise but could have used salt and pepper. I liked the reasonable prices, the spacious seating area with plenty of TVs, the event nights (including 80's party night and music bingo night), the daily food and drink specials (see FB), and the games including two golden tees, one pool table, two electronic dart boards, and two Dragon's Ascent. My grilled chicken salad ($8.49) was served in twelve minutes. It was served in a generous 8" x 8" x 2" bowl (with dressing on the side) and tasted great, with plenty of tasty chicken on mixed greens with fresh veggies, croutons and shredded cheese. I found the service to be only accommodative, so overall, I'm thinking 3.5 stars and rounding up for the reasonable prices, specials, games and event nights. read more

This place could have been something special for Shawnee. We've visited 3 times over the last year. Each time, the servers were overwhelmed, cranky, and snippy. And we couldn't blame them. It's as if the owner/manager doesn't care what happens to the place. It's dirty inside, and the patio? I don't get it. If I was the manager, I would be out there, anticipating nice weather, cleaning it up and making it as inviting as possible. Today, one of the most beautiful days in months, and that patio was trash. I think it's a prime venue for Bar Rescue. So disappointing, and I hope someone else with a bit more work ethic takes over this place. We need better in East Shawnee read more

I'm glad that The Social is doing as well as it's doing! That little section right there off of Pflumm has seen a lot of things come and go, so to hear a lot of talk surrounding it is a pleasant surprise. In regard to the space itself, it's nothing to write home about. Your classic bar and grill. I'm sure it would be a blast to visit for Chief's game. When we visited, it was to see their Who's Holiday Party popup bar. While cute inside, it wasn't our favorite experience. Not only did we have to pay $5 each to make the reservation, but it wasn't even full...so I'm wondering if we would have had to pay if we just showed up. Something else that was strange was that they were not serving any drinks other than the specialized ones. If you wanted a different drink, you had to go into the entire other room and order from their bar. I don't understand why they couldn't have just rung my dad up for a beer on his birthday and then brought it over to him from the entire other bar. The TV's weren't working for a part of the time that we were there but when they got them back up in running, they played all three different Grinch movies which was an adorable move. The decorations were well done and the space did feel open and not cramped. We tried some of their bites and the cheese balls were fine. A little much. The deviled eggs were good as well but neither of these options were great for a group. We probably should have gotten a dip or something like that! In any case, I don't know that the pop up bar was the move for this location, but I do look forward to checking them out for your every-day fun bar experience! read more

Came by for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised with the delicious food. Nashville chicken sandwich is large with creamy coleslaw but the fries weren't very crispy. On the other hand, we did get onion rings and those were fresh and crispy. The sirloin came out a bit overcooked but it was well seasoned. We liked that the side salad was mixed greens instead of just lettuce. The bartender was the server so she was running around doing both but she checked in on us and kept our drinks full. The bar seem to have a great atmosphere for hanging out at night. read more

We stopped in last night. Looked like they had a steady stream of people for a Thursday. Big place so even if it was busy, it wouldn't be crowded, which I find quite nice. Dinner was delicious. I had the Mediterranean flatbread. Crispy crust, yummy toppings. My husband, who generally is not a quesadilla fan, had the Reuben quesadilla. It came with sour cream and salsa (weird I thought for a Reuben). He asked for a side of thousand island dressing and that came quickly. He said it was really good. We also shared the soft pretzel app. I loved it, spicy mustard and cheese dip. So good. Next time, and there will be a next time, my husband said he's having steak. They looked really good going by our booth. Overall, good food, good prices, good service (like everywhere there may be some delays due to having a smaller than usual staff). Came in to a virtually empty, dirty restaurant last night with my husband at about 6:00. Nobody greeted us so we sat ourselves. Someone who I think may have worked there brushed past us and out the door front door to sit outside in the front. There were probably 3-4 tables with food and trash from customers on them. We sat there for awhile looking around while the waitress talked to the one table of patrons in the restaurant and then walked straight past us to go to the kitchen. This is a newer business We had had both a team dinner here and taken friends there who were visiting from out of town. Both experiences were great! The food may have taken an extra few minutes (they seem a newer business) but it was worth the few extra minutes we had to wait (probably waited for our food for less than 20min). We will be back! What Happened?????? Approximately 3 months ago we stopped in due to all the rave reviews. We were impressed with the meal we ordered. The Philly cheese stake was absolutely wonderful. Thought we had found us a new place. Ordered tonight a Philly Cheese-stake again along with a Pork Tenderloin to try something new. So so disappointing, Philly was not even close to what we had before and had Jalapeños which we didn't request. The tenderloin was tough as cardboard with huge mound of lettuce... so tough couldn't eat half the sandwich. So much for our new place. To preface-I only post a bad review if I am very irritated and need to give tough love. Walked in like usual and "sat ourselves" as they never have a host which is fine saving some money. It was a Thursday night 3 live tables 2 of which were parties of 6-8, a party of 4 who left after I sat down and a party of 2 girls. I walked in and texted my husband 7:17pm to come in as it looked busy by the parking lot. It was during the ncaa tournament and the bar was surprisingly full which it never is when we go and the other room was open I think. The server literally walked by my table, didn't acknowledge me with menus in her hand that she has to give us since there's no host and kept walking. My husband and kid came in and sat whom the same server even walked past. It was 7:25pm and I said let's go. 8 minutes! If you're going to be the only server on the floor, acknowledge your table as I actually worked hard as a waitress and had many return customers due to MY service of 13 years at the same restaurant. We had been going since they opened and had steak on the menu regularly and our kids love the Mac and cheese. Now we only go Mondays if prime rib or Thursdays for steak so we finally made it on a Thursday as that is a hard night to go out for us but we left at 7:25pm and never got a steak or a drink within 2 minutes as restaurant service protocol goes let alone a head nod. Sorry social, but it seems your management is poor and your judgment in hiring servers is even poorer. I should've seen this coming as every time we have ever been in we had a server we had never seen. We love to support local but can't just throw away our hard earned money. We went to a brewery down the street and were greeted immediately by a host and had great service along with food. It should not be called the social as the servers are definitely not social. We went last night to listen to a band we love. Not that many people there but had 4 servers/bartenders. It should not have been a problem except they were all taking shots. Ours happened to be so trashed she didn't even remember serving us. We had to go to the bar and ask for our check. Service was so poor I had only had 2 beers in 2 hours. When we asked for our check she kept telling us that she didn't know who we were and to "lose the attitude" unfortunately I had given her my card so we couldn't just leave. I kept begging her to just run my card so we could leave. After she finally did when we left she started yelling for us to "get out of her bar". She was a nightmare. I think they moved to try and clean up their act but it's not working. Their staff was taking shots with all the customers. It looked like an episode of Bar Rescue.
