Taziki's on 82nd street gives off the energy of a Greek Chipotle, and I want to be clear that I mean that as a neutral observation and not a criticism. You walk in, you order at the counter, you find a table. The format is familiar. What lands in front of you is anything but ordinary. So, I am going to address the dessert situation first and without apology. I started with the baklava before the rest of the food arrived. Why? I am not a Padawan. I am a grown Jedi who has earned the right to sequence a meal however the Force sees fit, and the Force saw fit to begin with dessert. The baklava was sweet, crispy, and exactly what baklava is supposed to be when someone actually makes it properly. I considered ordering another. A Jedi exercises restraint. I waited for the rest of the order instead, which did not take long, so the sacrifice was manageable. When the full spread landed on the table the presentation alone was doing work. My partner's Greek salad with chicken kabob looked as good as it tasted, which turned out to be very good. I sampled the chicken kabob and it paired beautifully with my roasted red potatoes, which came out tasting like olive oil and lemon pepper had a perfect collaboration and decided to coat every potato equally. My Street Gyro had the kind of meat to vegetable ratio that suggests whoever assembled it understood the assignment. Good balance technically, but the balance leaned toward more meat, which is the correct direction to lean. The Ruffles chips that came alongside were a chaotic and welcome addition to an otherwise Mediterranean operation. Nobody saw that coming. I respected it. My partner finished the chocolate chip cookies and had no complaints. I had no complaints about anything. Taziki's is not trying to be a sit down Greek dining experience and it does not need to be. It does what it does cleanly, consistently, and with enough flavor to bring us back the next time the craving for Greek food makes its presence known in the Force. Five stars, would absolutely return. The baklava alone justifies the trip. read more

My only qualm is that I scheduled for pick up and no one came out to my car to deliver my food even after calling they "forgot" to bring it out. I had to go in and grab it off the to go shelves. You cal also earn rewards for free food. The only minus (and it may only apply to me) is they only offer a 22 ounce fountain drink size or bottles of Dasani water. I had got the pick your own feast which was the spicy harissa chicken, the Greek salad and basmati rice. I also bought the chicken gyro and got the tomato cucumber salad with it. My daughter and I stopped for lunch on12/6. I ordered a veggie wrap with some changes, leaving only pesto, squash, zucchini and red peppers. With my second bite I bit into a piece of chicken. I carried my plate to the register where a teammate asked if she could take my plate. I explained what had happened and she took my plate and went to the woman in charge. The woman replied she had made it and there was no chicken. I waited for her to finish with the customers she was with. She then proceeded to basically call me a lair but said she would give me the requested refund. I said , "ma'am, it was in my mouth. I'm certain." She again said I was wrong. She was the absolute rudest person I have ever encountered. My order had three distinctly colored items - yellow, green and red. This items was white and obviously NOT a vegetable. I told her she was extremely rude for no reason. I have used Taziki's for catering multiple times and I handle catering for my office and I will never give them my business again. I was not rude or disrespectful when reporting this problem. I did not deserve to be treated like this while others watched. I don't know what was wrong with this woman on this day but she should NEVER be in a customer facing role. I hope she isn't that nasty to the other employees who were very professional. I've been hearing and reading about lemon rice soup. I was on a mission. And the nearest place to obtain a bowl of lemon rice soup happens to be a #getlostindiana favorite anyway, so the decision to leave my warm house was not difficult. Anyway, I made it to Taziki's, #found a "free soup with purchase" card in my stash, and skipped inside (in my head I was skipping). But the card was for the tomato basil soup. Ok. I'll have both! My usual spot for Gyro & Falafel was closed due to a 60+ party they were hosting so I had to find a substitute. This place, while a chain, proved to be a pleasant surprise. The lamb was a little better in quality than the traditional shaved off the spit. The meat was juicy, thick and had good flavor. Something you'd expect from street food in the Mediterranean. I have always heard of Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe, but never had the desire to go. I decided to order dinner through Uber Eats from the Cafe to give it a shot. As one of my fellow Yelp reviewers once said, delivery does not give you the full experience of the restaurant, and he is correct. I will say the food from the Cafe was quite delicious and symbolizes what the actual restaurant represents to its customers and overall brand. I ordered the grilled chicken gyro with grilled veggies, the hummus appetizer, and a side of fresh fruit. Everything was wonderful and fresh. I've been doing the Mediterranean diet lately for my health, and it is good to know that there is a Mediterranean restaurant nearby that can supplement my dietary restrictions. I am interested in going to the actual restaurant to get the full experience and see how the customer service is in person. The place is bright, cute, and most of all CLEAN during these times. While I typically go for a traditional gyro, their specialty is grilled chicken. The offer even included a side! I picked new potatoes. The gyro was made hot, fresh, and quickly! The pita was warm and soft and everything you expect from a pita (half of my gyro craving), the chicken was hot, juicy, and delicious! Definitely exceeded my expectations! The new potatoes had what I think is feta, spices, and lemon vinaigrette. I also got bonus potato chips! Nothing special but for a free meal I was blown away.
