HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 4.5 STARS This review encompasses two visits to OPA Grille with friends on 10/3/16 and 11/3/16, respectively. OPA Grille is a very casual, unassuming and sparely decorated restaurant very close to the Bethpage LIRR station. Prices are low, the kitchen is fast and service is efficient. Look for the ample parking in the strip mall across the street when you arrive. On 10/3 I started my meal with the restaurant's excellent PIta bread, coming in both a plain and whole wheat style.The bread was warm, delicious and, frankly, addictive. The Hummus here is similarly delicious and addictive. I did not order an app because the restaurant offers a soup or salad with your entree.My Greek Salad was excellent, crisp, with plenty of Feta and covered with a flavorful white dressing.My entree, Lamb Chops with Roasted Lemon Potatoes, was superb as well. The chops arrived a perfect medium as requested. They were tender and tasty. The Lemon Potatoes were the best I ever tasted. The potatoes were cooked very evenly and were soft and tender, inside and out with a delicious lemon coating. I washed everything down with a smooth Fix Hellas Greek Beer. When I returned, I ordered the Greek sausages as an appetizer, which I really enjoyed. They were as good as any Chorizos that I've eaten recently. I rarely eat chicken unless it is tikka masala so I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki as a change of pace. The Chicken was perfectly grilled, flavorful and moist with a nice exterior char. It was also a huge portion which gave me enough for lunch the next day. In this regard, OPA Grille offers modest prices, great portions and exceptional value. These are some other dishes which I've photographed and that my fellow diners enjoyed: Gyro on Pita, Gyro on Greek Salad, Shrimp over Greek Salad, Spinach Pie, Lemon Soup and Chicken Stuffed with Spinach and Feta. Wish I could rate it higher because the people are very nice, but it was below average. Tzatiki sauce was a bland yogurt concoction that had no garlic or spices in it. Gyros meat was prepared well and crispy like I asked. It was on a bed of lettuce that should have been a Greek salad. Very little feta on it and no taste to the salad dressing. read more

I give a 3 as I was disappointed with the large greek salad. Was the salad itself with the dressing good, yes. Plenty of feta but nil cucumber, 4 baby pieces of tomato and 3 small olives. The stuffed grape leaves were very dry,not enjoyable. Also had a Pita, tons of tomato, onion and shredded lettuce. Some meat, but requires more to get a 5star from me. read more

Visit Date: December 18, 2013 I came here with my family. This was another one of what I am now calling circumstances of unfortunate eating. Basically my definition of unfortunate eating is eating before or in between a wake. Now that that's out of the way here's the food info. I ordered the taramasala, cheese pies and spinach pie, plus 3 greek coffees to line up and down like shots of liquor because I really needed some caffeine. The taramasala was amazing, it's usually the same at any greek place but it's oh so delicious. Basically it's greek cavier, it's a dip with fish eggs. The cheese pies were delicious, I actually shared some of them because I had a lot to eat. The spinach pie was good too, I thought I was getting mini spinach pies but I actually got a huge slice. So be prepped for a big portion if you get the spinach pie. The greek coffees were alright, not the best I've had but decent enough. I would come here to chomp on greek food again, definitely worth it! read more

BEWARE, if you place a take-out order, they do not give you a itemized receipt with prices; that's because they include their own tip ON TAKE-OUT without my authorization. (in my case, $25 order and $9 tip) When questioned about the incidence, the cashier and waitress said "its policy." They continue to help other customers while ignoring my concerns and said there is no manager on duty. (incident occured at 5:18 pm on Dec 28. 2017). I been ordering food at this location for years and the customer service provided each time is poor to mediocre at best. Will never eat here again. read more

I'm judging based on the quality of the food on delivery. It may be better if you eat in the restaurant. The appetizers are very good. There are quite a few great dishes, and dipping sauces. The meat is ok. It tends to be on the dry side, which I don't love. The meat mix and fish mix is good to get to share as a group and try different dishes. Worst service of my entire life. It took forever to be seated. We were there for about 25 minutes, and weren't even asked what we wanted to drink. The waitress was assisting every other table but ours. She even was making small talk with everyone, even though she knew our table wasn't helped. I have been going to Opa Grille for many years. Their food is tasty and their service is typically good. However, I had a very bizarre situation there recently that left me questioning if I'd would continue dinning there. I ordered pork souvlaki with lemon potatoes. Clearly the kitchen made a mistake and they gave me a side of rice pilaf by accident. The waitress was busy and took a while to return to the table to see if everything was ok. I started eating my pork but didn't touch the rice. When she finally came back and realized it was wrong. She took my plate and sent it back to the kitchen. My boyfriend didn't want to continue eating while I was sitting there waiting. I was horrified that they would take my food away based on their mistake. No offense, would it have killed them just send over a side of potatoes and not take the rice off my plate???? That is "Terrible" customer service. Plus, what did they do with the rice; throw it away or reuse it? I felt so uncomfortable that my food was no longer visible to me and the kitchen was reprimanded by their mistake and my food was getting cold while they figured things out. By the way, it was their second mistake of the night. Initially, I ordered salad with no onion which accompanied my meal. The waitress brought over a soup. When I told her that it wasn't what I ordered, she refused to believe me. She literally felt inclined to reference her hand written check before she would actually give me my salad. I think I knew what I ordered! My boyfriend was disappointed as well. He wanted a large Greek salad with his gyro. She said the small was rather large so he took her advice. Needless so say, my 6'1 boyfriend left feeling unsatisfied with a tiny salad and a skimpy filled gyro that didn't come with any sides. Our bill was high, our service was terrible and he left hungry. I went into this place and ordered and gyro and French fries as I always do! And this one time the French fries were hard as a rock and over cooked! So I live like 40 min away and I didn't return the same day. Today which hairs to be two days later I wanted to order food from there again and I informed them about the experience. Fantastic little place right near the Bethpage train station. Has a varied menu with all the traditional like gyro platters and souvlaki. They do this wonderful octopus, never overcooked and always tender. Now that the side dining room is open again the place has plenty of seating. read more

OPAAA GRILLE is my favorite Greek spot. I take people here all the time just to try greek food for the first time. I love their rice. I order the spanakopita dinner option at least once a month. Comes with a salad and they throw in a grape leaf. Really good salad dressing. I get mine on the side. If you dine in the give you some bread to pick on. I called in today they were busy hand a line of pickups like always. The first time I came here a while ago... the waitress accidentally hung up on me truely BY ACCIDENT but, oh well... they are so worth it. They have a lunch special for 9.45 and it's a huge portion. I really like the Opa Grille. I've visited a bunch of times now but have only been here for lunch. They run a terrific lunch special with plenty of choices on the menu, and it also includes a cup of soup. The portions are not too big, nor too small......just the right size for lunch. I usually opt for a grilled chicken dish over their gyro meat because it's seasoned well and a bit more juicy. It's a small operation and the few employees they have do a very nice job taking care of the customers. read more

We had our monthly girlfriend get together at Opa Grille. Three of us ordered the lamb & beef gyro and one had the spinach pie. The pita was thick & difficult to eat. The waitress brought us freshly made pita which was very good. The spinache pie was burnt on top but my friend did not ask for an exchange because she ordered well done. It was lunchtime, the service was good and prices reasonable. It is better to park on the side street which has 2 hour parking than in the very small parking of the restaurant. There are many Greek restaurants so I am still looking for an eat in restaurant with excellent gyros. read more

Came here for lunch with a few buddies on a friday afternoon. Decent looking place, not too crowded. We were seated immediately and a few minutes later the waitress came over. Definetely not the friendliest waitress i have ever had, definetely not happy to be working there and just a "who cares" attitude. We ordered our lunches, for the most part all gyros which took FOREVER to get to us. The place wasn't even crowded and I have no idea what took so long. We waited at least 30 minutes and almost left. That being said, the gyros were excellent. The yogurt sauce was on point and the salad was fresh and dressed well. I present to you the driest falafel sandwich that ever existed. I came here for a quick pick up for lunch, reviews were decent , pictures look good online. Figured id give it a shot. Boy was i fooled. Price is 8 and change for a falafel sandwitch but what r u getting exactly? In brooklyn/ queens u get a whole assortment of salads in a warm pocket filled pita filled with hummus, spicy dip even white sauce. Here its literally some old dry lettuce, a old dry tomatoe and some overly crumbly dry falfael. The tahini tasted good ill give it that much. That saved the whole meal, but it was difficult gulping down that dry sandwich. I would maybe put fresh salad in a pita to give it some life read more

I'm loving this place. The place was packed on an early Saturday night (usually a pretty good sign), but we were seated within 10 minutes - yay. You get complimentary pita bread and tzatziki sauce at the table - double yay! The gyro and souvlaki are both delicious, but someone at the restaurant told me that the souvlaki is definitely the way to go. You can get a Greek salad or fries on the side for $2.50 - I go for the salad when I'm feeling particularly sloth-like.
