Special - Tomato Bisque
Anthony W.

Absolutely delightful venue and great service. We enjoyed it so much that given its proximity to where we are staying, we ended up at Opal twice in two days. The food is well prepared. The steaks, seafood and salads are excellent. The cocktails are made well. The wines by the glass seemed a bit overpriced for the market. The mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer is incredibly delicious. The mashers have mascarpone cheese whipped into them, and they are hard not to finish even when you are already full! The only disappointment is the level of added salt to the pastas and soups. Given that it is an "Italian" restaurant, the pasta was a major disappointment. Stick to the proteins as they are well made and everyone enjoyed them.

Go get their pork chop (photo) or Filet with the best whipped potatoes. Oysters are from different regions weekly. Love this place.

Spicy Local Shrimp Bruschetta

We got the shrimp bruschetta, which was very good! The bread they start you out with is classic and delicious. We got the tagliatelle bolognese and the truffle and mushroom pappardelle. Both were pretty good :) our service was great. We had Stacy. They offer fresh ground pepper for every dish. We didn't order any cocktails but they didn't look super upscale- just traditional offerings with traditional garnish. Overall pretty nice!

Amazing Mother's Day dinner last night. Had the gnocchi with shrimp, was out of this world. Stephanie was a great server too!

Fish special

The fish special, peach salad special and soup special were all perfect. Would also recommend the red sangria.

Filet (giving u angles)

Honestly I was pleasantly surprised, I was putting this place off cause I thought it would just be ok but it was excellent. Started with the garlic clams and it was delicious, I prefer clams to mussels so I was glad to see it on the menu. I could have had 3 bowls of the clams and would have been happy. For dinner I had the daily catch which was tile fish and the pirlou which is a rice mixture with jumbo lump crab, this dish was delicious. The tile fish was perfectly cooked. It's a light dish perfect for someone who doesn't want to over indulge l. Hubby had the center cut filet cooked rare and it was cooked to the perfect temp. The crust of the filet was out of bounds. The sauce with the steak and the mashed potatoes were excellent. 5 stars kudos.

Opal made our anniversary dinner special and warm

We celebrated our anniversary with an early dinner at Opal. The food was great and they were so nice to split entrees on separate plates before bringing them out for us. The server really made the night special and warm. It will now be an annual tradition

Go on Tuesday night 1/2 boards. Highly recommend the pork chop and agnolotti. Gnocchi is a little bland. Meatballs are fabulous.

Great food, wine and service. Had charcuterie board and tale fish with lemon risotto and tomato. Sounded OK, tasted delicious.

Over rated and over priced. Prioritizing indoor dining over takeout. Unacceptable. There is nothing to appreciate this restaurant for.

They are served with a mignonette, which isn't my favorite, I should have asked for cocktail sauce z but I just slurped them down "naked" and they were fabulous. We also had the hushpuppy tots - the butter these come with is the perfect compliment. Hubs had the Sullivan fried platter, so good, it includes fried green tomatoes - YUM! And coleslaw that reminds me of Jewish delis from my childhood, but finely shredded. I had the fish tacos which were swordfish today, the salsa on there is perfect with the fish. Cocktails were good and if you've ever been to the BVI, the best painkiller that's not there, they even use Pusser's Rum. I can't wait to go back to try more of the menu.

It might have been that we were a party of nine. I'm going to give them another try next time I'm in Sullivan's Island. Great looking place though.

It was one of those moments when they told us they were full, but two people left the bar at the same time. We were so lucky! So many people were waiting. We started off with Mai Tai's and they were delicious! The bar stools were super comfortable and the entire restaurant was beautiful. We shared a shrimp roll as an appetizer and it was incredible. We also loved the fries that garnished it; they were almost like a hash brown. We also shared a pasta with ricotta that was incredible. We ended the evening with a gin drink that was featured on the menu. So glad we were able to eat here!

Despite being ready when reservations opened, the best we could manage was a lunch reservation. No worries though because lunch at Obstinate Daughter is better than no Obstinate Daughter at all. We were able to find parking in the neighborhood and had a short walk to Middle Street. From the moment we entered the establishment, I understood the hype. Our server, Sara H., was wonderful throughout the entire meal and we kicked things off with cocktails: the Abandon Ship and All Hands on Deck. Both were excellent and set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip - and there were a lot of highlights!!! I also ordered the Tuna Crudo special, which was incredibly fresh and a great way to start my meal. For the table, we shared the Local Lettuce Salad, the Farro with Chicken, and the Moultrie Pizza. Everything was seriously fantastic. The Local Lettuce Salad was simple but executed perfectly with croutons, parmesan, egg, and buttermilk vinaigrette. The Moultrie Pizza, topped with pepperoni, Mepkin Abbey shiitake mushrooms, tomato, mozzarella, and parmesan, disappeared quickly. And the true star of the meal for me was the Farro with Chicken. The combination of Brussels sprouts, peanuts, balsamic, black truffle, and perfectly cooked chicken was absolutely incredible. If I lived nearby, I would order this dish again and again without hesitation. Considering the restaurant's location on Sullivan's Island and its well-earned reputation, I also thought the prices were relatively reasonable. I loved the vibes. It was packed but the service never wavered. This meal was so, so, so, so, so good. In fact, if we could have snagged another reservation during the same trip, I absolutely would have returned. The hype is real. Obstinate Daughter is worth it!
