My group thoroughly enjoyed our booking on 7/12. We have never been to Open Door, but our first experience was a great one. Our game master, Ian, was absolutely wonderful as he walked us through Lethal Injection. He was a great sport and played the role well. The room was well designed and immersive. They do have a warning, when you book, but be warned, crawling is a large portion of the room. Do not book if you have issues crawling. We look forward to our next experience. read more

Escape room hype might be slowing down but that doesn't make them any less fun. It's been a minute since I last did an escape room but hey, 4 of us made it out with time to spare. We opted for Lethal Injection cause suspense is fun right? Who doesn't like watching a love one die by lethal injection? Better yet, who doesn't like breaking a loved one out of a public execution just cause you can? The escape room production value was pretty good, only thing that was missing was the musky dirty smell of a prison and execution room but that'd be too realistic... right? The puzzles felt intuitive and well integrated though there's more padlocks than I'd have liked. I personally like when escape rooms incorporate clever "locks" that make sense within the setting, though I guess padlocks make sense in a prison cell type room. Either way, the clues are cleverly hidden, presented, and doable. 4 of us managed to escape with 10-15 minutes to spare, but can you? We'll look at coming back, especially for Kidnapped, which is their horror themed escape room. Cause what's better than pooping your pants while trying to escape right? read more

For my birthday this past weekend my friends and I thought we would attempt to conquer two escape rooms. After doing some research of the options available in the Redlands area we chose Open Door, which was not a disappointment. The first escape we played was Inheritance. My first complement is to the effort put into the set and production of it. Set outside but in a commercial building transports you to the location it's intending to emulate. This room was quite tricky but with some hints from our GM I believe his name was Ian we were able to successfully complete the game. Very fun. Tricky and unique puzzle designs. Overall great time. The second game we played was Lethal Injection. This game took place at a different location that Open Door occupies. Which was about a 5 minute drive away. This game was very different than inheritance in a fun way. One of your players will get to have a different perspective too which is fun. The set design once again was once again above expectations. Very immersive and detailed which added to the overall impact of the game itself. I can't remember our GM's name for this one I'm sorry. But he was also incredible with great hints when requested. Overall Open Door was a great time. Absolutely intend on coming back and taking on the games they have to offer. Definitely would recommend. If I had to choose my favorite of the two games it would be inheritance. But trust me neither of them were easy games. I'm glad to saw we succeeded in both but not with much time left. We tried 2 different rooms in two locations (separate weekends) and loved them! Pillow Palace: themed for children but challenging enough to keep the adults involved. We took our 8 year old and our 16 year old and they both had a great time! It was not "too easy" so don't worry if you're an adult and still want to do it. Loved the theme that was integrated into the room! I won't give anything away but kudos to the owner for doing that! Kidnapped: did have a spooky element to it so don't be surprised if you find yourself shrieking! But enjoyed it overall! Will be checking out the more advanced rooms next! Me and my party of 4 went here oh a whim and did the pillow palace room and we genuinely had a lot of fun. It's the easy-beginner room and it was great for our first ever escape room. We were ages 25-30 and the difficulty was perfect. If your group is younger they can solve things too. It was an hour and we did this with 10min to spare. I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to do an escape room.. it's was easy enough to solve but not to easy where you wouldn't feel challenged. NO spoiler alert here. BUT we did have a great time. We came on Father's Day: parking was easy, it was easy to find, they opened on time and the rules were explained very well. While we made it out with plenty of time to spare, it wasn't for the faint of heart (I mean that on many levels ......). There were many obstacles but not overly difficult. There were many emotional ups and downs during our playing time. I'm glad there were 3 of us, and that we have done other escape rooms. We have our team play together. We played the "Arrested" game here. I believe they have several other games. So 2 of us decided to join this game that can accommodate 6 total players, and for some reason, our group of 2 joined 5, so that our game had 7 people which worked great. In this particular game, I think a party of 6 or 7 is really fun, and it would not have been as fun with just 2 of us. Thank you strangers for your brains and a wonderful time. I want to say this was one of my favorite games so far after playing Escape Room LA, Exit Game, 13th Room, PanIQ, Vector Escape, the Laboratory. Theme: I forget details, but you're wrongly accused for a crime and in an hour, you will be hanged for it. You need to escape before the Sheriff comes back. The theme is very well thought out, nice props and fully immersive. You really felt like you went back in time to the old west. Hint system: unlimited. The hints come in character. I thought this was well done, without any disruption of the game. Price: $28 very good! lower than most escape rooms in Los Angeles area Tip: The beginning of this game starts out with a surprise. So it is very important that all members show up on time. On time means 15 minutes early. If your team members show up late, they can still play, but they will miss a critical part of the game. Working with strangers, we were really forced to work together. I wouldn't classify this game as too difficult. It had a few puzzles that required alot of physical team work. Some puzzles needed creative thinking. There is one puzzle that short person will be able to solve right away, but hard for tall person. There was just 1 decoy, so we were productive the whole time. Difficulty: 6 out of 10 think creative. It was 40% pass rate. It is not about solving difficult puzzles, but more of an immersive experience, storyline and team experience. I had such a good experience. Couldn't ask for better. read more

Definitely recommend this business for escape rooms. We have done inheritance before and just did kidnapped. It was our first time trying a "scary" room. We all were a bit nervous but we made it out!! Hilarious how we could get lost easily in the puzzles but regrouped thanks to hints - the scary factor made the game extra intense and fun. Our host was very fun and helpful. He set up the story and vibe really well so much that we were already spooked before getting into the room (also the fact that we started the kidnapped room at 10PM at night made it even spookier) would highly recommend open door escape! We went to Unity Escape rooms down the street that are $5 cheaper and gladly take walk ins. Open door is asking $40. More than any of the local rooms. Unity even says that they are on call so if someone wants to play they will rush someone over right away. Unity was much more accommodating. read more
