My husband and I have done four different rooms at Open Door Escape Games and we've had a blast every single time! The latest one we did was the Christmas one which was probably the most family friendly one. By that I mean it had lots of puzzles suitable for families with kids but still changing for adults. If you're looking for an interesting outing with family or friends, an escape room is a really good option. If you've never done one before, Operation Save Christmas would be a great first room to try! We will absolutely be going back to try out the rooms we haven't done yet and will be in line to try any new ones they add as well! read more

Took my sons and their friends to play Lethal Injection and we had a BLAST!!! This was our 3rd room with Open Door, also did Kidnapped (absolute favorite, we did not get out in time cause we were laughing so hard and having too much fun!!) and Inheritance. I heard that Kidnapped might be closing soon, so please check it out before it does, you will not regret it!! The puzzles in all their rooms are intricate, well thought out and very clever. Came with my son, sister, and brother-in-law. We had such a fun time completing the room. It was linear and had unlimited clues that had to be yes or no questions. It kept us on our toes, but did get it going. The guest player that gave us a quick scare was scary, but fun and it made the game more entertaining I think. This was my 2nd time at an open door escape room. They are so much fun! They are also decorated really well. I have been to other escape rooms and I just feel that open door really takes a lot of time with details and I really appreciate that. Both games that I did were challenging and fun. I am definitely not the greatest escape room player, so they were both easy to medium level. I also got to meet the owner, and he seemed wonderful and very genuinely interested in people having fun at his escape rooms. Our game host was amazing! We tried the new room, Kidnapped, and let me tell you, I screamed a LOT. This was a tricky room with some creative clues. We did it with four people, and you definitely benefited from having people who think differently from one another and could tackle the riddles from unique perspectives. Made it out with about 4 minutes to spare. It was absolutely a blast, and I'm excited to come back to try another room! Open Door Escape Games' Pillow Palace has to be one of the most original and absolutely cutest rooms we've ever done. It's light and airy, and just perfect, perfect for those with kids, those who have never done an escape room before, and those, who, like us, we looking for a morale booster! For the price we paid, it was certainly worth it. At this time, it is one of the cheapest rooms available, but as far as fun and memorability, it is right up there with all the other amazing rooms we've tried. We. Broke. Our. Record! 33 minutes! What I've been saying about trying to never finish a room early? Well, ha, when you actually do, it's quite a thrill! Those more competitive groups than ourselves, please don't get me wrong: the first challenge is just to find the room itself, located within Citrus Grove Business Park, 370 Alabama Suite B, Redlands, CA 92373. They do tell you on their website that it is behind the building but you can miss it if you don't have good eyes. In addition, once you have found the lobby, Pillow Palace starts in an adjacent room. The story, as provided on their website, is very straightforward: a blanket fort opens up a secret portal which leads to the mystical Magic Pillow Palace of the Pillow King and our job is to win back the hearts of those who have turned against him and restore faith, hope and love. This room is totally in keeping with a sleepover party escape: it's a very clean room where fluffy bunny slippers and PJs would not be out of place - in fact, for even better photos than the ones we ended up with, we would have played this room in our night clothes - bunny slippers and all! Not that we are big on matching room with outfits, of course not ... Our absolute favourite part (other than playing without masks on) was the fort, of course, and all the pillows. It's such an ingenious concept, and, for that it was a relatively low-tech room, it had some really good reveals, and we loved how our sense of smell is a requirement for one of the puzzles! The number of physical locks was manageable - at no time did we feel like there were too many, or that we were looking for red herrings in a swimming pool. Pillow Palace is rated an Easy - Medium room, and recommended for 2 - 6 people, and it is totally solvable with 2 people. The recommended minimum age is 7 years, but I would say well-behaved 4-year-olds and up can probably have as much fun, if not more. It wasn't a scary room at all - just happy and whimsical. There were no live actors inside the room with us, but Faith (yes, really!), our game mistress, was lovely: not only did she do a great job explaining the rules of the game to us, in giving us hints (sometimes even without us asking!), she gave us the hints in full voice character. Also, she took very good photos! Pillow Palace is - the - most relaxing room we've been in, even more so than Time Machine (previously reviewed): they are so completely different and both so enjoyable. The parking was plentiful and convenient when we played - first game on a Saturday - but not as close to food places as their other location in Downtown Redlands (ten minutes away, how spoilt are we!) which we can't wait to try. If we did Pillow Palace again - and we would, if only to see if we can beat our record! - we would probably do the game at night, actually, and make sure we had some yummy hot chocolate or apple cider (Pillow Palace is twenty minutes from Oak Glen) after. Well, that, or as a grand morning finale to a fabulous sleepover! read more

My college friends and I did the Lethal Injection and had the BEST time!!! The game had so many layers to it and was so creative that we could not stop raving about it the whole way home! Loved, Loved, Loved!!! Fun, challenging, and just enough scare! Did the kidnapped room which really had me using my brain.

The adventure begun as soon as we parked. The escape room we signed up for was located in beautiful downtown Redlands with its cute store fronts and yummy places to eat. (I mentioned this because it sounds like they have another location, verify with them the address for your particular room.) If it's the one we went to, I would definitely suggest making a date out of it. Grab a bite to eat on State St either before or after your adventure but do give yourself plenty of time to seek out the location of the escape room. It's "hidden" within the old buildings. Once there, be sure to listen closely to the directions given before entering the room. We went as a family of four. Me, my hubby, and a 14 and 16 year old. It took a minute to get our brains going, but once we did the clues were fluid and the room was fun. I love when there are secret cubbies and rooms you weren't expecting. This escape room had both those details with a little twist of "fear" added for some good laughs and great memories. Check it out. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

I did a last minute booking today for 2 people to kill time. I was slightly confused if I was in the right location since all I did was book online for Kidnapped and didn't know that each location had a different room.... so I called and asked and the girl was like "are you in downtown" in a slightly rude way and I'm like... "I don't know, I'm not from this area". But that's not a big deal, I just felt stupid, which I'm not sure if it's my fault or hers. Because we were not new to escape rooms, I figured we could do the Kidnapped room that was supposed to be "medium" difficulty. I think it was pretty good, and it was actually my first time with an actor in it. I'm a scaredy cat so I was pretty into the room. The puzzles were decent, and I really do enjoy a linear room so that was good. I think Kidnapped does require more people if you're new to the escape room stuff, but definitely doable with just 2 relatively experienced players. All of the puzzles were nothing new to us. GM was chill, and they don't give hints, only answer yes or no questions. Would maybe do their other rooms if I'm back in the area. read more

Pillow palace was such a cute room. I went with my husband and 3 kids 11, 16 &19. We all had a blast. Our guide D was lovely and so helpful. We escaped with only 3 minutes to spare. We are beginners to escape rooms only have done 1 before . This room is great for a family especially if you are looking for a more uplifting peaceful room. With all the bad things happening around the world and the stress of life this room was perfect. It brings your family together without electronics and makes you work together. One thing though my son has epilepsy and there are flashing light's caused him to get dizzy and have a severe headache so that is something to keep in mind. We have done 3 rooms with Open Door (Inheritance, Kidnapped, & Pillow Palace). We absolutely loved every single one. These are the best escape rooms I have ever encountered. Each room provides a truly immersive experience & hidden rooms, which was a fun surprise. The puzzles are unique and the story lines are well thought. Inheritance was the most challenging and really requires multiple people. Kidnapped was spooky fun and the setting was perfect! We did pillow palace last, and although I thought it was for kids so wouldn't be as challenging or fun - I was proven way wrong! I can't wait to do their next room. read more

I haven't done an escape room before so I got my friends to join me. Overall, the game really fun. The game was really interactive with plenty of puzzles to solve. The game master, Grace, was wonderful. She did her best to give us the rules concisely and with some warmth. Even the acting at the introduction of the game was great by Grace.
