I ordered a beef taco (hard shell) and had swallowed it down before I even got out the parking lot. I was very happy they put the taco Pete sauce on the side as I requested with the nachos. The nacho chips themselves were sorta stale and reminded me of nachos you get at movie theaters. The staff was pleasant and the intercom system they use to call your number is loud enough that you can sit in your car and still hear you number but isn't overly loud that it's disturbing. So they started their own healthy foods. 5% of their proceeds goes to Boys & Girls Clubs to help prevent childhood obesity. I tried the chicken sandwich and it was amazing! It came with gouda cheese and ciabatta bread. The chicken is free-range and it also has aioli sauce . My friend Jonathan got the Georgia Peach. I liked the pulled pork on this one, but the peach sweetness with the pulled pork wasn't my favorite. However, my chicken sandwich was 5 stars. Amazing! Consequently I will not get UBER One and UBER EATS validated my decision to get a Dash Pass instead. I wasn't trying to game the system for a refund but after years of great steak sandwiches from Woody's for well over a decade, I thought about it simmering. Woody's UBER Eats cost you a long time customer who used to laud your authenticity and because of one poor performance won't be back.

The lines were long at this spot and people in line stated that was their second time in line. I knew the food was good then. I got a chance to talk to the owner to get more information about the business. He informed me he only does fish. Thats his specialty. He also stated for catering purposes he does fries, spaghetti and also can make salads. I forgot to take a picture of my food, but it was well worth the money. When I'm talking line, I'm talking L-I-N-E!!!! As we were waiting, we ended up getting a spiked lemonade from one of the vendors and it wasn't spiked much. Atlanta is better off for having food trucks (and this park, specifically). Despite the cloudy, on-and-off drizzly weather, the park had a good turnout of patrons between 7-9pm on a Thursday night. Thanks to those who braved the elements for our UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-atlanta-food-truck-park-uye). The food truck/food stand lineup was pretty good: Sweet Auburn BBQ Corn-a-Cue One Love Jerk Grill Metro City Dogs Lemonade Stand WOW! Food Truck Ibiza Bites Chay J's New Orleans Candies Rouxd Food Truck King of Pops Yum Yum Cupcake Verizon also had a stand. I've been following the park's official calendar (http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/calendar/) over the past month and noticed Thursday nights are the ideal weeknight (excluding Fridays) to go for the most trucks and the best selection. I suspect there might have been more trucks last night if it wasn't for the weather. I ended up trying a little bit of everything: Arepas (Venezuelan sliders) from WOW! Food Truck Beef brisket with Asian pear slaw taco from Sweet Auburn BBQ Goat cheese-stuffed fried green tomatoes from Ibiza Bites Creole pretzels and Creole popcorn from Chay J's I'll be posting reviews for each of those trucks in the next few days. If you come for dinner, I recommend coming on the early side as the food trucks only have a limited supply of items and do sell out. This leads some trucks to close early. I saw many menus with marked off items that had sold out for the day. Yum Yum Cupcakes shut down early because they sold out of their cupcakes for the day. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much seating the park had. I counted 16 large picnic tables in the main "dining" area, most with umbrellas. Each picnic table can seat up to about 8 people each. The picnic tables are located on a flat, paved surface. The food trucks are located in a large gravel lot. This lot has 4 communal standing tables and 2 additional picnic tables. So overall, this spot has quite a bit of seating, which is convenient. Also, plenty of trash cans and recycling bins to keep the grounds looking relatively clean. The park is family and dog-friendly. It can be a little loud because you're around all these big trucks and next to busy Howell Mill Rd. You can BYOB, so save money by bringing your own drinks. If you want water, I saw some trucks selling it for $1 per bottle. There is one restroom and it's a "Johnny on the Spot" porta-potty in the parking lot with portable sink outside so you can wash your hands. There is ample free parking behind the park. The parking lot is old and filled with pot holes, so drive carefully. I saw someone puncture their car's tire by running over a broken-off metal sign post on the ground (she was trying to make too tight of a turn around the dining area). Note that every Wednesday and Friday night throughout the summer, the park will be playing movies for free. Also, from time to time, there is live music. On the weekends, there's a food market with rotating vendors and an artists market coming soon. Overall, I'm very happy with the Atlanta Food Truck Park and definitely plan on returning.

Well, Mr. Fancy Fry-lover asked me to grab him some while I visited The Works recently and I finally had the chance to checkout WTF/What the Fry. WTF is a food stand within The Works that really stands out. Featuring a variety of potato picks such as tots, waffle fries, curly fries, etc., the carbs are on 10 here. Beyond the potatoes themselves, WTF offers a variety of seasonings and toppings to flavor up your choice. Craving more tan just fries? They've got you covered there as well with tenders, fries and more. I decided to go with the straight fries w/ cajun seasoning ++ tots w/garlic parmesan and lemon pepper. Both were freshly fried and flavored, I only wish I had taken a seat to eat more on my own before I passed them onto him, lol. And the gentleman behind the counter was ON IT. He was tossing fries in seasoning, drizzling sauce on wings, all while making jokes and helping customers at the same time. Truly a good experience, I'll be back to enjoy more potatoes in all their glory.

Friday Urban Picnics is run by the Atlanta Street Food Coalition, and held every last Friday of the month from March to October, 11-2pm. Location is the back of Sweet Auburn Curb Market. At today's picnic, I arrived around 11:45 and lucked out with finding a parking spot. Lines were very short too - but that all changed after 12. Good Food Truck and Yumbii were probably the most popular. Westside Creamery, The Pop Shop (or maybe it was The Pop Stop), and Black Tie BBQ were there, too. I think almost all items were under $10. Today I had Good Food's $5 Poodle which was to die for: French Toast hot dog bun, beef dog, apple maple slaw, ... and then they strongly encourage you to add maple syrup and spicy mustard. Whoa that was really yummy - messy to eat though and I had sticky fingers afterwards from the maple syrup but no complaints from me :) Next time I'm trying one of their savory cones filled w/ all kinds of goodies! The Indian rice crispy treat sounded intriguing, too (curry, coconut, and candied fennel seeds)! For dessert I had a $3 generous scoop of Westside Creamery's bourbon & bacon ice cream. Just a hint of bourbon flavor and surprisingly thick pieces of bacon throughout - honestly I was expecting bacon-infused flavor but my bad for expecting anything else but the real thing!! They had some great flavors to choose but I went with bourbon & bacon since the Westside guy said it was his favorite. I've already marked my calendar to make a field trip to the next several picnics b/c there are too many new things to try! Some tips: Bring cash. If you're lucky enough to find parking in the Sweet Auburn parking lot, it's free w/ validation - look for the table outside that validates tickets. Otherwise make a purchase inside to get parking validation. When I was driving back to work, I also found free parking available under the interstate - free for the first 90 minutes.

Parking was easy and free on the street or you could park in the Sweet Auburn lot but it looked packed. Most times there's one or two things to choose and they're usually sandwiches. It feels kind of like a Top Chef competition. The chefs prepare something special for the day that's not on their normal menu. One week Empire State South was set-up and I had one of the best fried pork sandwiches, ever. In hindsight I don't think I've had such a thing since I was in high school, so that isn't a very fair comparison. Today the chef from The Hungry Peach was there. I opted for the barbecue pork sandwich combo, which came with some sort of mini peach dessert and a big cup of lemon tea (or something like it) for only $7. They also had pimento cheese sandwiches served on toasted bread with lettuce and tomato. Either would be the perfect thing for a hot Atlanta afternoon.
