Had a 200 alowance on my vision insurance. Got my eye exam there then pick out frames ect..i picked a frame that was priced at 100.00..lens was 59..00..so 159.00. Eye exam was paid by insurance. Not sure how much never told me.. then they say they want another 150.00 above everthing else and has to be paid upfront..i dont think so..ypu shpuld pay AFTER you get the glasses and be sure thier correct then pay! Basicly i was being upcharged so they can just keep the insurance money and charge me for the actual glasses..double dip!..and only for one pair. Last year i got 2 pairs and had to come up with 90.00. Thier thieves stay away informing my insurance company the trick thier up too. When we walked into Optical Outlet (Homosassa) we were greeted by 2 or three associates and when we told them of our needs an associate named Amara said she could help us. We explained our insurance (VSP) and she told us they were a VSP owned store. Amara began helping us with frames, then setting up the exam, then the available options and pricing based on our insurance. She was extremely knowledgeable and always had a smile and a pleasant attitude. The Doctor was very good and our exams went well. The entire process was smooth and efficient from beginning to end. I have used Optical outlet for many years. Last April I did another eye exam and purchased 2 pairs of glasses. One pair with photo gray lenses. that pair was not very dark when in sun. Second pair has never been the correct prescription. I should've returned to get fixed, but didn't. Am returning now for new glasses and will spend a little more to get a better quality lens. I accompanied my sister to Optical Outlets (Homosassa). I waited in the lobby and overheard a woman at the back desk discussing with a client their family members. The woman appeared to look up different people in the computer and tell the client which of the client's family members had been to this location, when and which doctor they had seen. My sister left without purchasing new eyewear. I asked her why and she said Dr. Middaugh was arrogant and had yelled at her and she wasn't going to support this office. I told my sister about the woman discussing medical information with clients and how it could be a HIPAA violation. She told me that woman was the manager and she is just as arrogant as the new doctor. Neither of us will return to this office. read more

I have once again had a great experience using this location along with their customer service and a long time customer too.

Two things that went wrong here. 1st, the lense scratched easily. 2nd, I told her I have a raised septum on the right side, if she'd make sure my glasses are straight ? The woman said my glasses sit perfectly across my face, that they don't go by the eyebrows, duh I didn't ask about that. When I got home they were NOT even close to perfect across my face. They are crooked. If you go there or anywhere else, look in a mirror for yourself. I made an appointment on friday 7/16 for saturday 7/24 asked if they take my insurance, gave them the info. Spring forward to the 24th arrive for my appointment the young lady asks if we have insurance I said yes and she tells me she doesn't know if they take my insurance and no one is in the insurance department because it is Saturday. This was my second visit and it will not be my last. I drive to Homosassa from Brooksville. The ladies were very sweet. The receptionist was nice and had a great sense of humour. Tammy was the girl who helped me, she was helpful and tallied up my bill in several ways so that I paid the lowest price. That's a rare thing! Would recommend the staff is very friendly and the manager is awesome as has helped me. Hard to find employees that actually care about their jobs and take pride. Very nice selection of frames and the prices are right. It my second set of glasses at this location and very happy. Glynnis is the reason the place is so great to go to always as acknowledged me no matter what I have went in for. I believe the new location even if it is the same plaza is bigger. And as far as noise that's the parents not controlling there kids and people talking on their cell phones and the totally new attitude people have about being polite - it's not there I really rather not hear you talking on your cell phone or letting your kids tear around with the frames get control of your kids parents. I was notified on Friday 1/25/19 that my glasses were in and ready for pickup. My husband and I arrived about 10 AM. Once again I had an excellent experience. Two of the ladies working on Friday 1/18/19 were also there on Saturday. I was also introduced to the manager, who again seemed very nice and concerned that the customers have a good experience with them. I was assisted immediately. Again, I was allowed to wear both pairs, read etc. I never felt rushed. The staff certainly appear to enjoy their jobs as they smile a lot. The prescription is so much better than my old pair. I selected the same frame for my 2nd pair of glasses and had them tinted for sunglasses. I definitely will return, and will refer friends to them. The eye exam with dilation and the costs of both pair of glasses even with some additions was still so much cheaper than just one pair of glasses in most optical stores. I felt uneasy from the moment I walked in. It was very busy and extremely loud. I could hardly hear the lady at the front desk. The most aggravating issue I had was them insisting they "help" me pick out my new frame. I was only getting new glasses I had walked in with my Rx. I prefer to shop alone and be left alone while I try to narrow down my selection. She kept picking out glasses distracting me from looking on my own and nothing she was picking was what I had told her I was looking for when she initially asked. I did find a pair I thought I could enjoy to which she replied oh my did you see the price of them. I replied yes it's fine. Last I checked the frame allowance is just that a frame allowance I am free to go over and pay the difference if I choose. It really rubbed me the wrong way. Definitely loud but my biggest complaint is not that they SELL SELL SELL but that I had my glasses REDONE and they were STILL wrong. I finally spent the money to go to a real eye doctor and get a professional check. After making 2 trips there and arguing with them, I am confident I got what I should have in the first place. This is not the greatest eye exam I have ever had. I fell for their special deal of 2 pairs of glasses for $499. One pair would have cost over $300. I picked up my new glasses and after wearing them for a few days I noticed they were no better than my old glasses. Close vision is ok but the distance vision is still blurry. When the optometrist examined me the first time, I told him that some of the lenses could have been sharper but he ignored me. I went back for a second exam for a re-check and he did the same thing. Ignored my comment that it wasn't sharp enough. Now it's time for my annual exam but I won't go back to Optical Outlets in Homosassa. read more

Didn't receive my glasses until about 3 weeks after having ordered them, had to walk in & ask for them because they couldn't bother calling. Asked for my glasses to be for distance, they said that's what it is, turned out they're reading glasses which despite my eyes needing them, they're no hope for if I drive. I needed distance, not reading.. I explained they are the wrong glasses, they not only seemed to be quite impatient & not understand what I was telling them, they also argued their point & protesting that the doctor who tested my eyes was correct. They wouldn't refund me anything or even reschedule a retest for my eyes so that I could t the correct glasses needed. NOT AT ALL PLEASED, WILL NEVER RETURN OR RECOMMEND. STAY CLEAR! I'm out over $100 of my own money because of them with glasses that are worthless! read more

This place is so unorganized and LOUD! When we first walked in they greeted us and gave us the paperwork to fill out. About 3 people asked us if we were being helped and after telling them I was finished with the paperwork we still sat there holding the paperwork for at least 30 minutes. They took Hannah and did some testing on her eyes (not the exam) then we sat for more than an hour ( by this time it was 3:45 and our appt was for 2:45). There was a little girl ahead of Hannah and when she came out of the office with the Doctor we sat for another 30-40 minutes until one of the ladies who work there noticed that I was very aggravated and went to the Doctor and then called Hannah back! I mean what was he doing in there alone when he has a room full of patients waiting for him? He did the exam and didn't even have Hannah read any letters after playing around with the machine. I had to make him put the machine back up to her eyes and read a line so I knew that she was getting the correct prescription! I went there because of insurance but it would have been faster and much cheaper to have just went to Walmart! Last time for us at this place and if you were smart you would steer clear too! read more
