I was sad to see the store emptied out late last year because I assumed they'd gone out of business. A "Remodeling, Reopening in January" sign would have been a very good idea as I see that I'm not alone among Yelpers here in having been disappointed at their temporary disappearance. I used to get my glasses thru the bigger chains and Costco. After standing in long lines, taking a number and dealing with cranky, less-than -knowledgeable clerks, limited selection and generic product -I decided to check out my local neighborhood optician. Cindy is such a pleasure. She knows her glasses. She knows her vendors. Her aesthetics are spot on., and she cares about her customers. (Her repeat business is very high as she's been in the neighborhood for many years - her Customer base are local and loyal) The wide range of frames - including wide head frames, which I needed - are all stylish and on trend. I recently purchased new glasses at Optical Solutions. Quite high end and beautiful. When my lenses were done and I tried the glasses I had difficulty seeing both small print and distances. Cindy suggested getting another eye exam with her resident Optometrist. I did so. The eye doctor was very attentive to detail and lo and behold my previous prescription was incorrect in a number of areas. Cindy offered to replace the lenses--- but when I came to get my NEW lenses she insisted on also giving me NEW glasses as there "might" be a slight variance. And with them I now see perfectly. What I'm describing here is a kind of care and service that in my experience is quite lacking in most "businesses" today. In short, Optical Solutions is a caring, ethical and positive experience. I walked by and loved the new interior design. I am new to the world of glasses so I didn't know what to expect. Cindy at the front desk was so warm and welcoming. She gave me space and time to try on glasses all on my own which I LOVED! I didn't feel presser from her in any way to try anything on or to buy and thing. I love this place! After two other very bad optical shop experiences in L.A., Optical Solution was a refreshing find. It has a cute, varied selection (including many options for the discerning hipster). When I told Cindy what my budget was, she totally stuck to it and didn't try to upsell me. And when I got into a bike crash and messed up my glasses less than a week after they came in, she hooked me up with a replacement under warranty, even though she didn't have to. I had an ongoing problem with another optometrist who could not have been a more awful group of people on every occasion -- I won't name names, but it rhymes with Blackstone Optometry. Anyway, I turned to Optical Solution to help me use a manufacturer's warranty on frames I hadn't even purchased from them, and Cindy was just incredibly nice and helpful. She went out of her way when she didn't have to, got my son's frames replaced, she even showed me a temporary repair on his broken frames that kept them from falling off his face. Anyway, this store has a great selection of frames and a great staff, and I can't recommend them more highly. read more

One star review for one star service. First of all, in all my years of living I have never walked into an optometrist office that charges you for an adjustment on your glasses. *Especially* if you're a patient. How are you going to charge your own patients to get a screw tightened up? I could understand if someone walked in everyday to get that done, but once a year, do you really need to do that? I've worn glasses for about 30 years and again, this is literally the only place I've ever heard of that does this. Second, ask about what their policies are on frame warranties. I had a pair of glasses that had a manufacturing problem and Cindy charged me $20 to get a frame replacement. I contacted the manufacturer and they said it's suppose to be free but they can't control business practices. $20? For what? It costs $4.95 priority mail to ship the thing out and either way, I should not be charged. Once I got them back, they still had the same problem but I kept them because I didn't want to get charged again and Cindy seemed bothered with the whole thing to begin with. Talk about the most passive aggressive person you could ever meet. If you ask her a question she will try to answer it before you're even done in a very irritated tone, yet with a plastic smile on her face. She's just awful. She acts nice, but you can just feel how phony it is. She seems to be unhappy with her job and her life and takes it out on the people that are helping her keep a job. ( The customers) The only time she seems somewhat content is when she's taking your payment. The doctors here are fine, but this woman Cindy will not allow this business to grow. I don't know if she's the owner, but if she is, she needs to know that she's shooting her own foot. If she's not the owner, then she needs to be replaced with someone who isn't so unhappy and mean. Oh and lastly, I agree with another reviewer that the business hours are horrible and if you call it's hard to get an answer. read more

It's mid-December, and I realized I have a lot of money in my HSA that I have to use by the end of the year. I decided to get new glasses. I'd had my eyes checked at Optical Solution a few months ago, so I stopped by to look at their frames and get a copy of my prescription. They're closed for remodeling until Jan. 2. That's all the sign said -- nothing about how to contact them in the meantime. When I called, the voicemail sounded like a personal cell. Unless someone gets back to me, which somehow I doubt, I'll have to get an eye exam elsewhere to get glasses made by the end of the month. Luckily, I have money in my HSA for it, but what a waste of time. I'm sure lots of people rush to get glasses in December because of the HSA -- worst time of the year to do remodeling. They could have sent an email to their patients warning us about it. At least the sign on the door could have been more apologetic or said how to contact them if you need something important. Same with the voicemail message. Moral of the story: always get a copy of your prescription after an eye exam. Optical Solution, you really left me in the lurch. I will not be coming back. read more

Normally my yelp has always been to check reviews rather than create one. But I came across a place where I just had to because it is very much so deserved! This place is GREAT. I went in not expecting any of the treatment that I actually got. Cindy at the front desk was very comforting. When I saw Dr. Tran she was genuinely concerned about not only my health but my overall well being. Even my future. I never had this type of concern or treatment coming from someone who was merely a stranger when I walked in. I left feeling like I just visited family who cared about me. Thats just so great especially with medical concerns. I will forever get everything I need optical related from Optical Solutions! Awesome experience. I love it. They worked with me and helped me out. Informed me on everything I needed to know. Truly took care of me AND I was scheduled for an appt the same day right about when they were going to close.
