We had a Department of Defense Service academy eye exam here as it is the closest designated location. The receptionist is a miserable person who has no place working as a receptionist... consider how many optometrist offices are available in the community. Querying all kinds of questions about insurance and denying to set an appointment. It is very unfortunate that one cannot go to Dr. Joshi's office because of this person. Sher Smith. She is awful and the ONLY reason why Optical Zone deserves 1 star. It's very unfortunate bc Dr Joshi is a great doctor; but you can't go into the office or call the office without having to interact with Sher Smith. She is rude, unprofessional and condescending. I would never step into this office again knowing that I would have to interact with her. Dr Joshi, if you wonder why your waiting room is empty and your reviews are low, consider hiring a new office manager, Sher Smith needs to go. She is unfit to manage the office and unfit to interact with any person. read more

Ok so where should i start! Its local in Plano! Excellent customer service provided by their entire staff! Specially Richard is absolutely amazing! Very patient i had a million questions regarding coverage and cost and he patiently answered all of them. Doctor is very nice does not make you feel rushed gives you time needed and answers all your questions and concerns. Very good selection of glasses. Kid friendly. The office has very vibrant and positive energy.They are very comparable in terms of pricing to other local vendors and warehouses. Highly Recommend this office! read more

This review is only for the optical shop. I really feel people need to know about the lack of customer service here. A couple of years ago I got some cute glasses and everything went well. So I returned this April to get a new pair. When I received them, the lenses were yellow. I have worn glasses all my life and I have never had yellow tinged lenses. I wore them for a week or so and then took them back to the shop. The manager told me people see colors differently and insisted they were clear. I was very disappointed but knew I just had to let it go so I did. Fast forward to recently, when one of the lenses just fell onto the ground while the glasses were on my face! The frame had broken for no apparent reason. At this time I had only had the glasses for 4 months! I took them back to the shop and was told the manufacturer no longer makes them in the same color, so I had to get them in another color, sight unseen. I didn't even address the yellow lenses again but did ask if I could just have a refund. Nope. At this point I just accepted the fact that I would have a pair of glasses in a color I didn't want with yellow lenses and would wait it all out until next year's eyewear benefits renew. (This means I will now have to wait yet another year for prescription sunglasses because I can't get both). Well... when the glasses came in, there were literally horizontal cracks in the left lens! That is not even the lens that fell out of my glasses! I cannot believe they gave them back to me in that condition. They did not have those cracks when I left them there. It is just a matter of time before they completely break. I just give up. I will not return, even when that happens. read more

HORRIBLE OFFICE MANANGER!!!! I have never entered a place where employees are treated so bad by a manager. I came in a few weeks ago and I could hear the manager, Cher, screaming at an employee in the back room telling this girl she is STUPID and IGNORANT!! This poor girl couldn't even get a word in while Cher was tearing her to pieces. Everytime this girl would try to speak, Cher would tell her to "shut the hell up if you want to keep your job"!!!!! When they came back out I demanded to speak with a doctor and that is when Cher informed me there is no doctor there and she is "running the show". This sorry excuse for a manager needs to go! I do not know what kind of sick place these people are running but I will surely not be back again! read more

The front office is very pathetic and very lame. They gave me appointment on 11.30 AM on Saturday. I took appointment on Wednesday that week. When I arrived on time, they take many minutes to get to me. They said it is not this saturday but another (next) saturday. I mentioned they did not tell me the date and I was left wondering how I am to imagine what they had in mind. Though I distinctly member it was for that saturday only as I took appointment in that office as I came in to look for glasses and I was very clear about what I was requesting. Meanwhile they took in another lady even though her name was not in register. The other guy at front office mentions he forgot to add her in system. Unlucky for me, he does not remember or apologize. read more

I was surprised to see this location only had 1 star because our visit was nothing but positive. We didn't have an appointment but we were helped right away. Richard helped us and was such a good help it led me here to tracking down his name and writing this post. He was patient, kind and caring. He helped us find the right glasses after looking over many and helped us with getting a good price. We got the glasses within a couple days and everything worked out perfectly! When I arrived for my appointment, it was not busy and I was immediately greeted by both employees sitting at the front desk (I believe their names were Donna and Karen). They were quick to get my exam started. After my exam, I was assisted by Karen in picking out potential frames. While we were speaking, another employee (Cher) rudely interrupted and asked to speak with Karen, she made it seem urgent. They stepped into the back to talk. Mind you, it was not busy nor noisy in the office, and I could hear Cher chastise Karen for, what seemed to me, to be petty and hardly urgent reasons. I found this to be HIGHLY unprofessional, Karen was in the middle of working with a paying customer (me), which should be the highest priority for any business. After their "chat", Karen came back and was extremely apologetic. A few minutes later, I was asking Karen questions about my vision insurance as it relates to my current exam/glasses. I found her explanation to be quite satisfactory. However, again, Cher sharply inserted herself into our conversation and began to make things confusing. When I asked her for clarification (something I never needed from Karen), she had the audacity to tell me that she "didn't want to get into that". WHAT?! I am paying your office hundreds of dollars! I was pleased with the doctor, Karen and Donna. However, I will not be returning to this practice solely because of Cher, for two reasons: 1. She is highly unprofessional and clearly finds berating the employees to be more important than the customer's experience. 2. She clearly wants me to spend my money at their practice without being willing to explain the terms associated with it. My experience at OpticalZone would have been fantastic had Cher not been there. I don't know if she's there everyday or not, but I don't care to return and find out. read more

I went in today to get my eye exam and get fitted for contacts as well as glasses. I walked in and was greeted immediately. Stacy did my pre-examination before the eye doctor saw me and she was really friendly. The eye doctor (Dr. Joshi) was also very great and explained everything as he went along which I appreciated. Finally, the last step I had was to pick out some new frames before I left. Cher, one of the workers approached me when I was browsing through the glasses and initially I though "oh great here comes a pushy sales person" but it was nothing like that. She told me where all the men's glasses were and told me to pick out the ones I like and when I was ready she would help me narrow down my selection or show me something that she thought would look good that I might have missed. Overall I was very satisfied with the service during my visit today and am definitely going to come back and would recommend it to anyone else. read more

TERRIBLE PLACE AND TOTAL RIP OFF. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE!!! I visited them today with my Living Social voucher and learned that the misleading ad of $50 for "eye exam and get $200 to go toward frames or lenses." I was not looking to buy glasses but only to get and exam for contact lenses. The front desk ladies said I should just get an exam done anyway even-though I will not be buying glasses. I stood in the hallway and read a number/letter chart. After that, I asked if the $50 I'd already paid can go toward a contact lens exam which I am told starts at $105. I am told no, that it is a totally different procedure. That does not make sense because my money is going to this very same clinic. I then decided to leave and did not take my voucher with me. I called back within the hour and said I am on my way back for my voucher, the lady that answered said that was fine. Five minutes into my drive there, I get a call from another lady that said the voucher had been shredded. I told her I may want to give that to a family or friend that wears glasses who can use it. She said it had to be redeemed at the time of the appointment and I had already been there. I did not see any of this information on the Living Social voucher and was only told verbally when I arrived at the office for my appointment for the first time. After I hung up with them, my husband received an email alert from Living Social that my voucher had been redeemed by Optical Zone. Okay, this is a long story but bottom line is they wanted the $50 for no services rendered and was not willing to work with me at all. I am not looking for a freebie here. They could at least allow me to have my voucher back and make another appointment in good faith but they did not. Good luck to you. Karma will prevail. read more
