This has to be the worst service in the entire nation. My problem isn't the internet connection it is the unbelievably poor billing. They keep losing payments and change account numbers and addresses then cut the service. I end up talking to people at a call center outside of the USA who cannot help. In sum, Suddenlink is the worst service provider I have ever encountered, 1) two hours to contact someone, set up appointment for service on Friday, February 28, between 2-4 pm. 2) drive from sf Bay Area to Truckee so I can make the appointment, 220 mile drive. 3) 12 pm February28 ...Suddenlink calls to inform me technician will be there shortly. 4) 7 pm . Technician never shows. 5) Suddenlink can not explain why tech never showed. Similar experiences in person at Truckee office. Rude, careless, indifferent. They all should be terminated. Does anyone else feel emotionally abused by Suddenlink here in Truckee?! We have been having internet connection issues with them for two months. I have had 3 technicians over at my house and they get the internet working for about a day and then it goes south again. They are taking $100 a month from us and in turn giving us shoddy internet and BS customer service. I can't talk to anyone over the phone without waiting 30+ minutes. I can't get a technician at my house without having to wait a week an a half. This morning I went to the local office and the individuals that work at the front counter literally are worthless. What's the point of them being there if they can't help with billing, or trying to triage a technician to a problem house that has multiple documented service calls that have no resolution?! All they do is take your money and give a blank stare and look at you like you're a crazy person. Seriously, just lock the door and install an envelop slot, that's basically the service they are providing. Suddenlink Outages. Suddenlink continues to have outages here in Sierra Meadows / Ponderosa Pallisades are in Truckee. I had a technician visit my home on Monday, Nov 30 and he said there were no issues with my router or wifi. He said Suddenlink had infrastructure capacity issues. He said he would escalate my ticket, but instead the ticket was closed. Suddenlink is not communicating with us customers to explain what they are doing to address their infrastructure capacity problems. I recommend we all keep calling them and submitting complaints/ tickets. I also recommend we all submit complaints to the FCC for their lack of ability to provide the service we are paying for. Suddenlink is absolutely the WORST business I've done business with in my life. My internet, phone, and TV went out on May 12 after a utility pole was knocked down. It was not repaired until Mid-July. My neighbor and I were the only two homes affected, and we both experienced the same pathetic treatment. We each had no less than six appointments for repair... 12 total appointments. Only two appointments were kept of my six... four "no shows". The two repair guys who showed up both said they didn't have the right equipment... they needed a bucket truck and a second repairman to complete repairs. Finally in July, my neighbor had an appointment and the repair guy actually showed up. When he saw the job, he said that he'd normally need a bucket truck and another repairman, but when he heard the sordid story he climbed the pole and did the job by himself. My neighbor told him that I was in the same situation. He said he didn't have a "ticket" for my address... but he did the job anyway. I am so thankful for this repairman! During this whole, pathetic saga, I continued to pay apx. $185/mo. to Suddenlink as they'd told me I'd be refunded for the time my service was down. When I tried to get a credit, I was told that I could only receive a credit of $200 as that was the limit. I realize that a bad "Yelp" is meaningless with Suddenlink, as it has a monopoly in many areas of the Tahoe Basin. This has to be literally the worst Internet wireless communication company that pretends to provide service to the community on the planet. Regardless of the latest snow storm we had here in Donner/Truckee how long do they expect people to go without Internet access wireless access in 2021. I understand that we had been without power for four nights but we got that back before Suddenlink could they get their act together and give us Internet access we are still without that. And even when there's no snow storm Suddenlink will just suddenly drop Internet access and wireless access on a beautiful sunny day and they have zero communication and explanation to why. I wish this area had more options but we don't we're stuck with this crappy useless company and I can't stand them and I have to pay them but why.. I don't get any use out of them. I've lived all over the southeast and have used just about every major cable/internet provider. Including T-Mobile internet, Cox, Charter, Spectrum, Time Warner (when they were all still separate). Suddenlink, without question, has been the worst customer service experience of them all, and maybe of any company I have ever had to deal with. Techs don't show up, they overcharge on bills, I'm even getting charged for new service on accounts I closed! When an install never happened at one property, because the tech never showed up, I couldn't get them to refund my money. Had to file a fraud claim with my credit card. Being a customer shouldn't feel like a job . . . all you have to do is treat people fair . . . is that so hard? If you can, just get T-Mobile home internet, it's about $50/mo, good service, great customer service and none of the typical cable company B.S. Don't these companies get it? I am a Suddenlink customer and it's the worst. I have been without service now for three days and I work remote. Every time I call, I go through a million options to even get a live person. And then, we have to go through all the questions. I've been through it all, testing the modem, etc etc etc and the bottom line is - I still don't have service and they can't say for sure when I will. There is no escalation process - no assurance of resolution. I'm so frustrated. Worst company. When your service goes out, the company you pay a ridiculous amount to every month should jump through hoops to take care of you and make it EASY to reach people and get status updates. Shortly upon requesting internet service we had a technician come by (within a day or so). Unfortunately there was an issue with at the pole preventing service from being started. I call a few days later to determine what is the next step. After speaking to several representatives because the only ones that are fluent english speakers are in the call centers for new service calls I was told a technician would be out to perform the work. Well that did not happen either, I was informed that work at the pole needed to be done and that will be a few weeks before they can get to it. No specific date. Wow! How does Optimum stay in business (except they're a monopoly)? Since we use cable TV very little, I decided to stop the TV and keep internet only. I packed up all my equipment and brought it to the store in Truckee. They told me they would take the equipment but I would have to call to cancel the TV service. So................I make the dreaded call to cancel the TV service. After 45 minutes of waiting and talking I finally (I thought) got the TV cancelled. I had to fight the salesperson tooth and nail to get internet only. And I'm sure you know the next chapter. Two weeks later, I gett got my bill and TV IS STILL ON THE BILL. And now the battle is renewed. I feel sorry for the poor woman who took my call. I told her I did NOT want a sales pitch. She said she HAD too or would lose her job. After many sarcastic comments by me (I feel bad now) I got the TV cancelled. The next chapter will follow. Will the TV be cancelled? Stay tuned (to streaming not TV). I drove up from the Bay Area to meet them in my Truckee home for my 8 am to 12 pm appointment today and arrived at 7 am. They arrived at 8 am and didn't have everything that was needed to fix the problem completely, and so the Tech (Mike) promised me that he would be back later in the day. Since I didn't hear back from the Tech and it was 5:30 pm, I called Suddenlink, and they made me another appointment, and I was told they could still come out today from 6 to 8 pm to fix the problem. It's after 9 pm, and they're a complete no-show. No calls, nothing! When you call and ask to talk with the Technician's Supervisor, they don't call you back either. Consistently horrible service at 8:30pm onward and a complete cut out around 11:30pm. I can not upload a video file for my business to the cloud or vimeo while simultaniously being able to use the internet throughout any computer in the house. This is not my hardware, as Suddenlink so constantly asks. This is at any time, not just in the evening. The ladies in the local store are super nice; the tech support hotline is useless, and the tech comes out while everyone is out to lunch and of course the signal strength is premium. You have a monopoly in the area and you over charge us for service that you cannot promise. You need to run more cable down the hill. Or Fiber, Please do something. Terrible customer service and terribly unreliable Internet service. My Internet connection fails far too often. Suddenlink's prices are relatively high, and they foist hidden fees on consumers like their silly, unadvertised "Network Enhancement Fee". Suddenlink's customer portal website has poor functionality, with broken-functionality that has remained broken for years. For example, for several years, users have been able to go online to add their credit cards for payment but the website gives an error when customers try to remove a credit card. Suddenlink has known for years that this feature of the website is broken but they refuse to fix it-- presumably because they want to keep multiple credit cards on file as fall-backs in case one credit card fails. Calling into Suddenlink is a frustrating experience with an automated system that has poor voice-recognition and a lack of useful choices that waste customers' time. read more

We had the internet/cable/phone line come down from the powerline to our home in Tahoe Donner on December 12th. We made an appointment for a repair on December 15th between 2pm-5pm. The tech was a no show and we waited up until 8pm. We called and they made us a priority appointment for the next day between 10am and 8pm. I called at 8am to get a sense of the timing for the day and they said there were 2 appointments ahead of us and that the ETA was 11:58-12:58. The tech finally showed up at 7pm as we were ready to leave and did not have the right equipment to fix the problem and made a note in our file what was needed to fix the line. The next appointment was December 29th and again the tech showed up with the wrong equipment to fix the problem. When I reached out this morning they said they would call me back but did not and they set up the next appointment for January17th. This is the worst customer service I have ever had. if you have any choice do not choose Suddenlink. Any other provider will be better. read more

Unfortunately, where I have internet service, Suddenlink is a monopoly. There are no other options. This is good for Suddenlink but sucks for its customers. Not only is their internet service overpriced (an advantage for monopolies), their customer service is horrible. They are inflexible in their policies and will tell you things that are not true. When I lost internet service and it took a month to fix it (there was a Suddenlink line problem at the utility pole), they promised to credit me for the month of service I did not get. Nearly a year later, I am still waiting. When I called and requested a credit, the customer service rep said that it was "impossible to issue a credit. The system will not allow this." Clearly a false statement. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the customer service rep, who it sounds like is in a large call center, said, "there is no supervisor who can help you." When I picked up on the wording and asked to speak to a supervisor anyway, she said, "I can't transfer you." I would say, stay away with a 10-foot pole, but since they are a monopoly, you may just have to deal with them. Prepare yourself to be frustrated and lied to and, maybe, the lowered expectations will make your experience more tolerable. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I am extremely disappointed in Suddenlink's customer service and inability to work with long time, loyal customers. Bills are raised randomly with no explanation and they "regret they have no promotions to offer". For seniors living on a fixed income even the slightest increase is difficult to budget. I think the Town of Truckee needs to encourage more Internet providers for this town so some healthy competition is out there to motivate a better mindset for customer service and incentivizing loyalty to a service provider. read more

Many of their customers are like me, people with no choice based on their location. Given that scenario they have no problem providing incredibly unreliable service which, when it does work, does not meet promised specs. All the while charging full price. They WILL lie to you. Why is this company allowed to even operate? They missed THREE appointments, with no explanation. When you call the toll -free number, you get India. No one is in the local Truckee office. We missed 3 days of our vacation because we had to be home during their 'service window'. After missing 3 appointments, you would think they would make us a priority - Uh, no. Our window for attempt #4 was from 10 AM to 8PM. When the guy finally showed, he was very nice and was able to resolve the issue over the phone with his tech. Shout out to Mike and Preston. Meanwhile, I asked several locals who they used for internet/TV/phone and they said Suddenlink was the only option in Lake Tahoe. Isn't that a monopoly of some sort? I mentioned our 3 day wait and lack of customer service and the locals just laughed and said, "Yeah, that's how they are"......... Terrible experience. Called two days ago to add more channels to our service. They increased our monthly bill -- and instead of adding channels, they removed most of them. I called back to get the situation fixed and they said they could not do it because I did not have my four digit security code and the phone numbers in their records did not match the phone I was calling from and they could not accommodate me because there was no way they could call me back. They did not ask for such security numbers when they changed my service (and messed it up) two days ago, but they insist on it before they can fix the mess they made. Unreliable service, they won't update their lines. they split 1 line between at least 8 apartments and then charge each one $70 each time a tech comes out just to say "ya our lines are garbage, sorry", on top of the $70/mo for internet that literally never works. Tech's have been out 4 times in the last week, they pull up, look at wires and leave. $70 well spent, right? Oh, and then they try and blame your equipment which is a brand new modem. If I could give less than one star I would for Suddenlink. Their customer service is atrocious. My internet has been down for 4 days. Today a technician was scheduled between 2-5. I was told I would get a text prior to the technician arriving. I did not get a text so when the technician came I didn't hear his knock at the door, but I was home. At 5:00 I called customer service (truly should be customer no service) and waited the usual 30 minutes to talk with someone. I was told the technician would come to my house within 20 minutes. 2 hours later I called customer non service (yup...30 minutes waiting again) and I was told there is nothing she can do and the soonest someone can come out is in 4 days. I asked to talk to a manager, no manager available but the representative assured me she would ask a manager to call me. When would the manager call me? Had a lot of problems during the winter Olympics...the only time the service would drop out or become so pixelated that it was impossible to watch was when there was half pipe, super pipe, slalom, giant slalom, down, etc....tons of f**king ice skating and never a problem....unless it was speed skating. Now it is May and weather issues should not be a problem, but I am siting here trying to watch 60 minutes and the sound goes away about every ten words. SUPER AWESOME. I am so pissed off that I turned off the TV. I'm not saying you suck, but it is within the realm of description. We need more competition here in Truckee, this is stupid.
