We live in Serene Lakes and have had years of problems with Directv service. Many scheduled appointments where they did not show up and several contractor techs were sent up from Sacramento with two wheel drive trucks, without snow tires, or a ladder and they got stuck. Luckily a trusted neighbor suggested I call Carlson's Electronics who are in Truckee. They came right out and got our dish sorted out and our service restored. We know we will have dish problems in the future with the weather on Donner Summit, but we now have a trusted company to help us that understands our area. So I am a big AV fan and follow all the usual sites and keep up on the latest technology, and consider myself pretty knowledgeable, but after tackling my new rack with upgraded components, and still being disappointed by the amount of loose spaghetti that was viable, I knew I had to bring in a professional. One simple call to Russel at Carlson's and the wheels were in motion for Glenn to show up at my house and detangle my unorganized mess. What a professional and kind gentleman he was, and he promptly showed up 15 minutes early. He spent a good 3 hours wiring and setting up my rack properly and explaining in detail, the room calibration and bass management for the subwoofer. I was completely satisfied with the detailed job he did and would definitely recommend Carlson's for any AV projects you might have. I Live in the North Tahoe area and had been thinking about going to Reno to look for a car stereo. I decided to look on Yelp and see if there is any close by stores and found Carlson's electronics in Truckee. I felt it would be better to use local business.After reading some of the reviews I decided to go in and check it out. I had no knowledge of what kind of system I wanted or what to look for. When I walked into the store I was instantly greeted by Russell and Glenn. They made me feel very comfortable as a shopper and showed me their inventory and discussed what would be best for me. I thought it would be way more expensive and they showed me some very reasonably priced stereos. Didn't make me feel stupid over my lack of knowledge of car stereo systems lol. I picked out something that was best for my needs they made appointment for me the next day. When I came back and walked in they said it would be roughly 2 hours. They handed my keys to Nate the installer And he began the the install immediately. I went and ran some errands around town and shortly after an hour I received a phone call saying the work had been completed. Nate the installer was a really nice guy he got in the vehicle with me and showed me some of the features of my new stereo and made sure I was Happy with my purchase. Carlsons electronics is a nice place, is always a clean looking store, and is local. I've been there to buy a few various wires, but have also bought a set of 4 matching 5 1/4 inch speakers for my jeep cherokee and they work great and with installation ran about 230$ total and also just today bought a jvc stereo deck from him for about 90$. Everytime I'm there I like it even if I'm spending part of my meagerly check and also he's attentive to me as a customer. I'm also teenager making only minimum wage (9$ a hour) and working 20 hours a week ontop of tryin to graduate, so he usually trys to cut me a deal and knocks off a few bucks off of the more expensive stuff I buy, granted he's not giving me a 50% deal, but every penny counts. I don't know if maybe I'm a sucker and he's just playin the roll of getting me a discount and trying to help, just so he can make a sale but I don't think so even though, even thought schemester car salesmen do it all the time. I truly beleive he's trying to help while still making sure he can make some money, because he has bills and a family to feed like everyone else. He seems though like a honest nice guy who will throw a little help out where he can. Even after that I said to save some money I might just install it my self(Reefer to the broke teenager part as to why.) he talked to me for a few minutes and told me how I should go about installing then even though it may have ment a few less bucks in his pockets then. read more
