Customer service is beyond horrible. If I could give negative stars I would. I recently moved and called to cancel my account, which kicked off a series of bad experiences. 1) I canceled service 2 days into my billing cycle, and they made me pay for the whole next month. They would not charge just for the 2 days that my service was active. 2) They didn't tell me to return my router, but I started getting delinquent payment notices 2 months later because of a $100 fee for unreturned equipment. Never got a bill or an explanation. 3) Luckily I saved the router and was able to send it back. They gave me a FedEx shipping label and RMA number and said they would remove the charge when he router was returned. I'm not getting more delinquent payment notices and they are threatening to send it to a collection agency. FedEx shows that the return was received by them 2 weeks ago. I called yet again and was told that it takes 2-3 months for them to "process" the returned equipment, and I should just pay the $100 to avoid the collection agency. UNBELIEVABLE. Do not get this, you're better off not to have internet. They know they have a monopoly in our area and their service is terrible. Our internet goes out at least 3 times a day and their technicians are never less than 5 days away for repairs. Optimum is hands-down the most horrid company I ever dealt with. Had service for years, prices kept going up, service kept going down. The local TV lineup has become nonexistent! Their internet speed never comes close to what is paid for. It often hovers between 4 - 30 MBPS when I'm paying for 500! Outages are frequent! Customer service is pathetic. Optimum is by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with. They will "schedule" appointments, cancel on them last minute, tell you the wrong date, and string you along endlessly. Their phone representatives will transfer you in circles to various departments, all telling you different things. I've talked to at least 15 representatives and been on hold for hours over the past month, trying to get simple answers. No one has a clue what's going on. Representatives will promise to follow up on items, reach out to other teams, call you back, and then vanish into thin air. The worst case was being told to wait on hold, then they gave me the number to another "department" and it turned out to be the generic phone number that puts you back in the queue to talk to a different rep. They will also steal money from you in the form of a deposit. In my case, they charged $150 to "open" an account, even though they did not provide any service whatsoever. Stay far away if you have the chance. Sadly, in my case, there is no alternative. Even the worst rated companies in the US, like Comcast, have been way better internet providers. read more

I had very limited service for the last three weeks. I've had to call nearly every day, have had three techs come out, have lost work, and used all my mobile data to establish a hot spot just to make it to conference calls and zoom meetings. The customer service is awful. I have been hung up on, been told I was being transferred to a supervisor - just to be put back into a queue. I had an appointment arranged from 8am - 11am, which I had to rearrange appointments etc to accommodate. At 11:30am I called as my technician had not arrived, only to find out they moved my appointment to 10am - 8pm, without being notified. They had me wait all day and stated if I missed the technician, I would be charged $60. And after all of this, I still have no internet service and was told the most they could do for me is give me a $20 credit. Horrible service. Highly recommend taking your business somewhere else, as we have done. read more

Absolutely the worst experience. We're at 21 hours and counting of our time trying to resolve connectivity issues. They are literally stealing our money and time. Over and over and over again, they refuse to support, they refuse to escalate, they refuse service. After many hours, they committed to having a technician show up - AND FAILED to do so. Now we have to take even more time off of work to be there. For an era where most business is dependent on the internet, this service is inexcusable. If I could give this company a negative 100 stars I would. My mother passed and tried to turn service off a day after her billing cycle service. They said they couldn't do anything. Talked with billing and some other unhelpful department. They wouldn't prorate or give us a credit. I think there is a special place for corporations that bill dead people and make zero exceptions. 1) Stop treating your customers so miserably. 2) Hire a consultant to teach your C-Suite about Business Ethics and then do a complete 180 on what must be your existing customer service strategy to actually try and please your customers. You'll find your incremental revenue per subscriber will generate the largest and fastest ROI of any single investment your Board of Directors has approved funding for in years. 3) You cancelled my install date, rescheduled it without informing me, promised a call back in 24 hours which never happened, knowingly supplied me with a set top box that you knew would need a firmware update and not work shortly after I started watching TV the very first night I had it. 4) You never apologized for #3 nor did you offer to compensate me for the massive inconvenience that was 100% due to your Optimum-centric new customer onboarding process instead of what it should be - a Customer-centric experience is what you should be striving to deliver. 5) Whomever your SVP or EVP of Customer Service needs to be fired - yesterday. 6) Because there was already service by the previous occupant of this house, your online new account process failed for three days straight - and not a friendly splash page acknowledging your system error, just a cryptic data string only your engineers would understand. 7) Where was I? Oh yes - after three days I called your sales number to sign-up only to be hung-up on by the sales person as she had put me on hold waiting for something you do internally that must be manual which is so asinine - does Wall Street know you still manually onboard new customers? 8) I have a life so didn't call back right away and when I did call back, I was told I missed the extra $100 gift card promotion by one-day. When I asked the Tier one phone agent to escalate to her Supervisor because I only missed the end date of the promotion period because of your systems failure and an incompetent telesales rep (read my Auto-pay sign-up debacle below). The Supervisor refused to give me the promotion. See #4 and #5 above. 9) I moved in 12/15/2022; today is 2/10/2022. I still haven't received my $300 new customer incentive gift card. 10) Your Telesales Rep who ultimately signed me up enrolled me in Auto-pay and took my credit card number (ending in 1318) for the initial bill. But she didn't because even though my bill has a clear line-item noting the $5/month credit for Auto-pay, when I had to speak to customer service Monday 2/6/2023 (see below) she told me I was not and since she refused to switch me on for Auto-pay even though you already have my credit card number and used it just last month. See #4 and #5 above. 11) Sometime in January I received a bill for $11.77 for something that I still do not understand. I ignored it since I signed up for Auto-pay when I became a customer (see #8 and #10 above). Since your failure to sign-me up for Auto-pay, even though my bill reflects it (see #10 above again) and you didn't credit the needed (but still as yet unexplained) amount due, you turned off my Internet before I needed to start work Monday 2/6/2023. See #1 and #2 and #4 and especially #5 above. 12) After finishing with #11, I asked for a credit because of Optimum's repeated failures - and I was only talking about this one experience - I was told because I got a $20 credit last month (because of one of the many above issues I had to deal with that were clearly not my fault) she wouldn't approve another credit for this month. Seriously. So... your allowed to screw up massively two months in a row but I'm not allowed to get another credit for your second screw up. Maybe I've just been lucky, but have had pretty great service in Truckee with Sudden Link/Optimum. Internet is fast and they come when they say they will. There is the occasional outage due to storms, but I get text messages that keep me updated and it goes back up pretty quickly. read more

Tried re-activating my account. Went on hold for 30 minutes, was dropped then called again put on hold for another 40 minutes dropped again and it's no longer business hours, closed on holidays and the weekend another 4 days without internet. Even when internet was on it would constantly cut out - unreliable and expensive. Over the summer Had an overhead line fall and break a car windshield. Deny responsibility and won't pay for the window. Also took a month of service calls to rehang the line - we ended up using straps and rope and rehanging it ourselves. This company preys on communities without options, and could care less to help. Unfortunately can only give 1 star read more

Having to drive 4 hours to our second home to meet the service person and both times a no show. Really very frustrating! Calling to get an appointment to replace a defective box...you have to do a chat and from the time they agree to send a tech to the time they finish making the appointment took 45 minutes. Made an appt. for internet installation two weeks in advance for a vacation home in Lake Tahoe, CA. Suddenlink texted me the day before to confirm my appt. & said that an installer would arrive between 11-2pm. I drove up from the Bay Area specifically to be there to meet the installer. Well, the installer never showed up during the 3 hour window. I called Suddenlink twice that day to inquire where the installer was & that he hadn't shown up. They told me over the phone they hire independent contractors as installers so they had no idea where the installer was or why the installer hadn't shown up. They stated they weren't able to track him down because they're not given names or numbers of their independent contractors. So, I continued to wait & wait & wait thinking he'd still show up. Clearly at 6pm it became obvious it wasn't going to happen. I've received no follow-up call from Suddenlink about the appt. that never happened. I'm completely just left in limbo. I'm also at their mercy because Suddenlink is the only communications company that provides service to my residential area in Lake Tahoe, CA. My experience has been awful & Suddenlink clearly doesn't value customer relationships or their customer's time. They honestly just don't care. read more

This review is for Suddenlink the company not the employees at the Truckee location. They deserve 5 stars and the understanding that it is not their individual faults that Suddenlink is a profoundly unprofessional organization. They were professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. Onto Suddenlink the company: to echo what has been written repeatedly if I could give a negative rating I would. Their customer call service center is a joke. They basically serve to be a useless as possible in order to set up a service call. A service call that costs $50 to fix problems with equipment the customer pays a monthly fee on top of paying for content. The other option is to pay a monthly fee for Safeguard which is essentially pre-paying for two service calls , which you might not need, for equipment that you pay a monthly fee. My most recent experience is with the TiVo Mini. It works but couldn't connect to the master TIVo unit. This is most likely a setting issue. But no help could be given over the phone. As this is connected to a TV in the bedroom and I rarely use this TV I wasn't paying for the service call. I explained I pay $11 a month for something I rarely use and will not pay $50 for you to fix a setting on your system. I turned the box in immediately after the call. They don't realize while that waiving the service fee would cost them $50 once they've lost $132 in annual recurring revenue forever! read more

I have tried to cancel 3 times now and I keep getting disconnected. The first thing their customer service reps do is confirm my phone number in case we get disconnected. Then they verify who I am and see my account. The moment I ask them to cancel my service, they disconnect my call and don't bother calling me back. I've already returned my equipment and I have a video I've offered to send to them but they say that they cannot receive files. Also, I've been informed that the equipment I've returned is not the equipment that I had on file. I have no idea how this happened (I'm guessing someone punched in a wrong number or something). I would go with anyone but them. Cancelling should not be this hard. read more
