He's super friendly, very knowledgeable, and is completely outfitted with all of the latest optometric technology. His support staff is fantastic as well. My appointment is always right when I scheduled it (no 15-20 minute waiting room stints). I've recommended him to several people who have all returned. Optique at west paces is great! Dr. Cohen did my eye exam and was able to get it done without dilation. I was in and out in 45 minutes with none of the after effects of dilation. I moved in Atlanta from Massachusetts. I had to renew my contact lenses so I used Cigna (my insurance company) to find out an optometrist who would accept new clients and I found Dr. Gavin Cohen who looked like a good choice. I took an appointment within a week then went to a wrong address on the given day (thanks Cigna). I immediately called the office of Dr. Gavin Cohen who rescheduled me immediately for the same week (from Monday to Thursday). And I did it again but this time I was wrong on the day since I went a day earlier. Once again, the office gracefully offered to take me right away but with Dr. Haley Shafa who is as pretty as she is competent. She is very competent since she explained me everything she was doing as she was doing it and made sure to give me the best advices as possible for my choice of contact lenses. I went to Optique for a routine vision exam. I have a vision plan through my regular insurance which covers the routine exam at 100%. Gave my insurance information on the forms gave a copy of my card, but upon checking out I was billed a copay and a cost for my prescription. I questioned as to why I was receiving a bill because my insurance should have covered it at 100% and the girl told me that they were out of network with my vision plan so it was billed to my medical. I mentioned that that was weird because I found them through my insurance website so it should be in network. She again insisted that they were out of network. So I said I would work it out with my insurance company later and file a claim with them. I called my insurance the next day and they confirmed that my vision plan was in-network and it should have been covered. Unfortunately there is nothing more that they could do because it had already been billed to medical and they could not coordinate any benefits. Upon hearing this I called Optique to see if I could have it sorted out and was informed that because I did not tell them that I had a vision plan ahead of time that there was nothing that could be done to remedy this situation. They did not seem to care about the misinformation given to me by their staff and made the excuse that she is new. I am happy to acknowledge that I did not tell them I had a vision plan and that that is my fault. I did make that mistake, but the attitude that I was given by Lisa on the phone, the excuses I was given and the finger pointing was in stark contrast to the good customer service I received during my exam by Dr. Cohen and by Lisa on the day that I was there. I am extremely disappointed in the service that I received after this string of mistakes by myself and Optique which caused me to pay $85 out of pocket that I should have never been billed in the first place. I understand that I made a mistake by not saying I had a vision plan however mistakes were made on both sides of this issue and I really expected more compassion and better customer service when the issue was brought up. Its really more the principle of the matter, the fact that I am not an insurance expert, the misinformation given to me by their staff, and that I believe that everyone should strive to do the right thing and if they were the ones in my place they would be just as disappointed as I am. read more

I have never been to an eye doctor that I felt truly listened, took his/her time, explained everything to me before and after it was completed, and followed up with matching detail. The store in itself is cute and their selection of frames is incomparable to anything else I've seen. As if that wasn't enough, they have a staff member solely dedicated to helping you pick out the best frames for your face shape, skin tone,and budget. He had me try several pairs, chose the features he said fit my face best and then chose about 10 frames for me to choose from. He pitted two pairs against each other strategically and after about 3 minutes, I had chosen what I felt were the perfect frames for me! They arrived in less than a week and I have received more compliments on these glasses than any pair I have ever owned since I began wearing glasses at age 10. Best eyeglass place by far and Dr. Cohen is fabulous! They take several types of insurance and with my insurance, the prices were very reasonable with it. read more

The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because there is always room for improvement. I have been a patient of Dr. Cohen's for several years, as is my son and husband. We have always been exceptionally pleased with both the staff and the the lack of wait time at the office. Dr. Cohen is a man who likes his toys and always has the latest and most advanced 'tools of the trade'. I find Dr. Cohen to be a man who loves what he does and does it well. My only suggestion would be that the cost of things be fully discussed before the time of check out. read more

I've been a customer/patient for a few years. Every single time I visit, the staff and Dr. Cohen are top-notch. These guys go above and beyond. They stand out. Last year I went out of state and forgot to bring my contacts or a set of glasses.....I called the office and they were happy to send my prescription to another doctor in Florida... their fax didn't work so they helped my figure out another solution. Lots of time/energy involved in helping me, with no hesitation. Unbelievable. Also, recently had an eye infection right before the 4th of July weekend and they were able to squeeze me in. Again, no fuss, just a sincere effort, which I appreciate.
