I rarely write reviews, but must share that if you are looking for an eyecare provider who prizes profits over patient care, then look no further, this is your place. While they employ a couple of good opticians, the place will upsell you at every turn and follows a customer service playbook designed to stonewall and dismiss your concerns while they gouge you. $1500 later I still do not have usable glasses based on their care. We took our child here to learn to wear contacts. After a couple of sessions they decided they had spent too much time with us and pushed us off for a year so they could get another eye exam payment out of us. The people were not helpful and you could tell they have little interest in actually helping. What a racket. read more

I purchased a pair of glasses a year ago... they filled the glasses with the wrong prescription. I called them months ago to tell them of issue. I finally found the time to go back and correct the problem. They told me to bring them in... they never told me about a time frame to fix the issue. I went in yesterday and they want to charge me ANOTHER $700 to fix THEIR MISTAKE!!! This company is completely unethical... they refuse to own their mistake and make it right... I had a very poor experience with Ansley Eye Care (@ Ansley Mall). My best guess is that it's the lab they use to cut and fit lenses. (The people that work the showroom were generally pleasant.) Earlier this summer, I wanted to updated my Rx on two pair of Mykita frames. Ansley sent out both frames (to a lab) and they came back with super thick lenses (even though I have a light Rx). And. . . all four lenses easily popped out with minimal pressure (while cleaning them). I took the glasses back and Ansley promised to get them fixed. I asked them for thinner lenses and they promised this would happen in addition to making sure the lenses properly fit. Whelp, when the glasses came back, the lenses were still thick on both pair. Additionally, the lenses were slightly different sizes in one frame and too big in the other. Owners of Mykita metal frames will know that there are small, horizontal gaps on either side of the lenses where they meet the hinge and these gaps should be small -- they help get the lenses into the frames and are an aesthetic element to the design of the frames. On one frame, one the gaps was notably bigger than the other, ergo different sized lenses. And on the other frame, the lenses were so big that it made the small gaps on the side massive and the arms of that frame dangled limply. Ansley once again promised to fix the errors and the frames came back with the same errors (except this time, inexplicably, the tint on the sunglasses got so light that they looked like creepy transition lenses.) I was flummoxed and felt defeated. I just happened to be in Berlin for work (where Mykita is located) and explained my issues to Mykita. They told me I should not be having these problems. At this point, I lacked trust that Ansley could fix the issues, I gave up, cut my losses, and went to another optician who fixed all my problems -- thick lenses now gone, ill-fitting lenses now fit perfectly, and the giant gaps that made the frames loose are gone. Twice, this place has fixed some very expensive designer sunglasses for me and twice they did it for me for free, despite repeated protestations to pay them for it. What's really wild is that both sunglasses, I took to Louis Vuitton to get fixed and both of them, they said that they couldn't. And I was going to pay them. But both times, Joh was able to fix my sunglasses and they look good as new. Best Optometrist ever! Ansley Eye Care has been providing my husband with exceptional eye care service since 2014. I had the pleasure of accompanying him on his last visit there and saw first hand the quality that Dr. Gupta and her simply remarkable staff offer. The first thing my husband commented on was the fancy new interior, true 5 star eye care look! There is also a wide variety of exceptional contemporary frames, felt like I should get a pair... lol. Expect some good conservation and a few laughs while you're in the chair, she's extremely cheerful and enjoys the time she spends with each patient. My husband always comments on how well she remembers him from previous visits (not just his eye issues). When it was time for him to select his spectacles, all hands were on deck! Everyone pitched in! They weren't rushing at him with the most expensive frames, their goal was to get a sense of his style and offer the best possible options. They seemed to be having so much fun doing this and offered their honest opinions. Best customer service, and best eye doctor experience!! =) Price was not bad either -- I've paid far more in the past and am so much happier this time. And they are honest and work with you to make sure you're not spending a fortune on frames (they warn you in advance while you're trying them on). About me: I am legally blind (sad) without glasses, and my glasses always look terrible so I worry constantly when choosing a new pair. But I really needed it. My last set was off by 100+ and I was blinking all the time, and wearing contacts until my eyes burned instead of putting my glasses on. I read reviews on yelp and was worried that I'd be spending a fortune here (special lenses cost so much). Eye Doctor: Dr. Gupta was seriously awesome. Easy to talk to, very professional, listened to all my eye issues, was extra careful to be absolutely sure that I was not over or under-prescribed. She really makes you feel like she's giving you the very best care you can possibly get. She wants your eyes to be healthy, and for you to see clearly -- and not to strain or have headaches or blinking/burning eye issues. She also recommended what kind of glasses might work better at preventing glare -- which was so helpful. Service: OMG, these people were SO wonderful and patient. They helped me try on some ridiculous # of glasses (I think I tried at least 50) so that I would be happy -- over two visits since I am awful at making up my mind. I enjoyed 3 years at Ansley Eye Care, initially because I had a bad experience with my previous eye doctor at In Focus Eye, and returning for yearly checkups and updates on my eyeglass and contact lens prescription. Dr Gupta is friendly and personable, finding out that we were born within months of each other in the same hospital in Canada. She adjusted my previously incorrect prescription and switched me to daily contact lenses due to the irritation caused by Atlanta's abundant pollen. I was able to purchase the lenses there without any problems or insurance hassles. I tried a few eyeglass frames in the store, but ended up purchasing elsewhere- I just used the corrected prescription Dr Gupta gave and had no issues. The exam rooms at the back of the store are modern and clean, with a large sink & mirror area for contact lens fitting. Location at Ansley Mall means lots of free parking. Unfortunately, they no longer have weekend appointments available, and they are no longer in my insurance's network so I had to switch to another doctor. read more

I just recently had to change eye doctors because of a job switch. After some research and seeing how cool the brands they carry are, I decided to make the appointment (even though I was just getting contacts this time). I was able to make an appointment quickly and my appointment was efficient while receiving quality care. I have been wearing the same brand of contacts for years but wanted to try something new since my current brand has begun to dry out more quickly. On top of recommending a new daily lense (which I already love), Dr Gupta also recommended an eye drop that is safe for use with my contacts as well. Ansley Eye Care told my son that he was in network, but after his exam said he was out of network. The bill for the eye exam was $272.50 instead of the $10 we expected as an in network provider. The store manager took no responsibility for looking up our insurance coverage incorrectly, and even when I offered $75, which is the average cost for a out of pocket eye exam around town, turned it down and insisted on full payment. read more

The staff were all helpful in helping me select frames. Gave me honest but constructive feedback on the ones I was considering. However, when I received the glasses with my prescription, they distorted my face worse than any other pair of glasses I've ever tried (I've been wearing glasses for the last 25 years). The lenses were also thicker than my finger's width at the outer edges. You would think that the employees there would have been able to address that. read more

While they are nice, I felt that they are not incredibly thorough. Most optometrists I have been to have many different eye tests, including a field of vision test. I had a simple refraction test, and that was it. I have had many much better eye exams. I don't quite understand what all of the Yelp rave reviews are about. They also made mistakes on my receipt that initially prevented me from submitting it to the insurance company--they misspelled my name and had me at an incorrect address. After the first mistake was fixed, I had to return again to have a further modification. While they were generally nice, I even mentioned to them that I was going to give them a low review on Yelp, and they did not do much to prevent me from doing so. I am not planning to go back there. Their frame selection is just okay. They Eye Gallery at Atlantic Station has a much larger frame selection. I do not, however, attest to the quality of their eye exams. All in all, I am not happy with my experience at Ansley Eye Care. I'm sure it's better than one of the one-hour shops, though I have never visited those, so I can't say. read more

So glad I found a great eye doctor in Midtown! Appointments: Easy to make via telephone. Office: Clean and quiet. Only thing I wish was different was the sink where you take your contacts out being visible to everyone. I don't like to poke around my eyes where people can see me. Exam room is nice and clean and smells good. Doctor: I love this doctor. She's very thorough and has good breath (somebody looking in your eyes with stinky breath is awful!) Staff: Nice and efficient Costs: Contact lenses exam normal price no shockers. They don't charge extra to give you your pupillary distance. After catching myself squinting at strippers and Saturday morning cartoons alike, I realized I needed to revisit my eyeglass prescription. After scanning Yelp reviews for a local optometrist, I opted to try out Ansley Eye Care. Service is absolutely top notch, from the very initial appointment request [they fit me in just a couple of days later], to the visit, to the followup. They make a point to remember your name and greet you with the warm familiarity of a lifelong service provider. Dr. Gupta is friendly, approachable and hip. She's definitely carved out a niche for herself with a very modern, accessible approach to her boutique. You can even avoid the dilating drops, if you prefer to have your eyeball photographed with the latest technology. The space is well stocked with the top shelf brands and designers. Sadly, a little bit too rich for my tastes. Even when I found a frame in my budget, the cost of the lenses alone [$450] was prohibitively expensive. $900 on eyeglasses is not happening in the midst of a recession [or, ever, really]. I've never shelled out that kind of dough for glasses, not even in my decadent Manhattan years. In their defense, I think the lenses were high index, bullet-proof, and gave me x-ray vision. But still, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I opted to only purchase my contacts through Ansley Eye care and to secure frames elsewhere. While I prefer one stop shopping scenarios, the service here and close location to my house makes Ansley Eye Care a no brainer with regards to them being my Healthy Eyeball Guardians. 4 astigmatic, light bending, clear-eyed stars. read more

I'm extremely picky. I dither. I have a tiny head. These factors combined make shopping for glasses an impossible task. After trying on what I suspected might be The One, I nevertheless walked out empty-handed. After having fixated on them for nearly two weeks and solicited opinions from friends, family, and reputedly objective strangers on the internet, I made my decision. However, I arrived to the news that they'd been sold hours earlier. I must have been visibly devastated, as John took pity on me and set out to track down another pair. Bad news: HQ said there were no more in the USA. They'd have to call Japan...! They'd get back to me. I didn't like my odds. Good news: HQ was wrong, and thanks to John's dedication and top-notch customer service, I now have the glasses of my dreams. read more

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: Within an hour or so of posting the review below, I received a call from Rob, the office manager at Ansley Eye Care. Rob was profusely apologetic about the way my issue was handled, and the fact that he was just learning about it through an online review. Rob called prepared with a resolution, and I am more than satisfied with the response I received from him. I feel confident that Rob will correct the issue with his internal staff, and that I will continue to experience the care and customer service I'd become accustomed to over the past couple years. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I thought this facility was great until the last several experiences I've had. I called two weeks ago because the new contacts I purchased are swimming around in my eyes, flipping and tearing. The young lady I spoke with said she would talk with the doctor and call me back that day. I stopped in two days later because I did not receive a call back and the young lady told me the doctor was too busy, and she did not have a chance to address my concerns with her. Five more days went by before the young lady called me back. When she did, she said I would have to come in for a new eye exam since it had been three months since my last one. Today I called and spoke with Logan and he told me the same thing and said that he would let the doctor know it was just a fit issue and they could get me in and out quickly. When I asked if that meant the price for the exam would be different, he told me no, that the price would be for the full exam since it has been more than three months. I told him I would want the full scope of the exam if that is what I was paying for. I asked him how the contact lenses would be handled since I have two boxes left for each eye, and he said they would not be able to do anything about that since the large box that houses the smaller boxes was open. I explained to him that the smaller boxes were unopened and he said that didn't matter and that the manufacture would not allow them to take them back. Not once did either Logan or the young lady suggest that they would have the doctor, and ultimate decision maker, call me to discuss my issue. Both of them sound and carry themselves in a manner not consistent with being polished in customer service, or having any business acumen. However, I would think it would be common sense to suggest that they escalate to a decision maker since my issue was not immediately addressed when it was presented nearly three weeks ago, and since I am wearing contacts that do not fit my eyes and are greatly impacting my vision. read more

Dr.G and her staff are the best absolute best from a medical perspective and retail. (I went to big wig Orthopedic surgeon in Midtown because my eye kept watering up. I had schedule something two weeks out, deal with the headache of midtown parking, and then I waited almost two hours just to be seen. Once I was seen, he told me just to get out of contacts for a month and everything should be good. NOPE. They also wanted to charge me $100 for a contact fitting and eval? I had no idea I had to get my contacts measured and tailored? Went to Dr. G, she immediately saw my eye was infected, gave me some drops and viola!) Here's a crazy concept, people here really like what they do and take their jobs seriously! Ok, so Dr. Gupta has seen not only me, my children (one of whom was nearly intractable in his exam and post-exam selection of eyewear), but my live-in lover. Everyone in the office is kind, patient with our insurance foibles, and sighs along with me when my son (yet again!) breaks his eyeglasses in soccer practice, or circus class, or, i dunno, breathing on them or something. Today, Dr. Gupta helped us above and beyond. My sweet man, who had some jacked-up sad story of a lasik surgery a few years ago, has had endless problems. Problems he thought were in the past, until yesterday when the pain in his eye was unbearable. I could barely wait to get home to write this review. I slept in my contacts last Monday night, as I often do because I am admittedly very lazy about removing my contacts before sleeping. Tuesday morning my left eye was irritated, so I took my contact out and felt excruciating pain the moment my eyelid touched my eye (my contacts had been serving as a band-aids, masking the physical pain of an infection.) I could only find relief by pulling my eyelid away from my eye. Disgusting. I've been using America's Best on Howell Mill for the past three years and was unhappy each time I went, yet kept wasting my time and money by returning. More laziness. There was no way I'd go there when having an actual eye problem, so I turned to Yelp and found Ansley Eye Care. I'm in love. -Called on Tuesday, got an appointment for today (Friday). Able to get an appointment quickly: yay. -Lady who scheduled my appointment was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Customer service: yay. -Arrived about 15 minutes early for my appointment today in anticipation of new patient paperwork. I completed the paperwork and looked around at their nice selection of frames. I really appreciated that they were all on display in a way that you can pick up and try on anything you want. I have a problem with establishments that lock expensive frames in cases because they do not trust their customers and/or want to force a salesperson to accompany the customer. Ansley's set up provides for pressure-free browsing, but knowledgeable staff available if you want their help: yay. -My appointment was for noon, but the staff let me know it would be 10 or 15 minutes before they would be ready to take me back. I work in the healthcare profession and understand the complexities of scheduling, so I didn't even bat an eyelash. Instead, I was grateful for the head's up because that gave me a couple of minutes to walk around Ansley Mall, purchase vitamins and grab a bite to eat. Customer service candor: yay. -When I returned, I was taken back and a tech read the prescription on the current glasses I am wearing, then tested my eyes with two different machines. I opted to pay the $25 to have the Fundus photo taken, rather than having dilation. I loathe having my eyes dilated, so the price was worth it to me, plus I really wanted to see photos of the backs of my eyeballs. Totally cool. Side note: because my visit ended up being medical, rather than a routine exam, I ended up not having to pay the extra $25, as it was all billed to my medical insurance. While regular vision insurance does not cover the Fundus photo + interpretation, my medical insurance apparently does. Also, I JUST had an eye exam in December 2010 at America's Best and they did not have this technology. So, advanced technology: yay. -After these tests, I went into Dr. Gupta's office where she joined me shortly after. She asked me to call her Reena, but I'm weird about that. I feel that doctors have earned it to be recognized as doctors, but I truly appreciate how humble she is about it. She is totally cute, very friendly, VERY knowledgeable, and spent a great deal of time with me (which also should help people feel less stressed when having to wait to be seen; the level of personal attention is incredible.) I also learned during my time with her that they only schedule 1 patient per half hour. Coming from the eye-factory that is America's Best, I appreciate that a lot. So, incredible doctor who makes it a priority to provide lots of individual attention: yay. I'm beyond 5 stars by now, but you get the point. I had an incredible experience from my first phone call to the check-out process. Lastly, Dr. Gupta has a cute little baby bump, so she'll be going on temporary maternity leave at some point in the future. This place is a total scam, I went in two years ago and they made me pay them extra money not to dilate my eyes because they claimed they had a new technology that was better than the old fashion way of dilating your eyes. Luckily for me I went to a new optometrist who did not charge me extra for anything and dilated my eyes. He discovered that I am farsighted. I have visited Ansley Eyecare for several years now and have consistently received excellent care and honest/ expert advise. I've purchased 1 pair of Prodesign, a black half-frame Öga in addition several brands of contacts (currently on Acuvue TrueEye). First Impression: Their Piedmont store is very clean, bright and their niche selection of glasses have opened my eyes (pun intended) to their fashionable designer styles (great quality). Side-note: I get compliments regularly on my glasses. Their staff are very friendly and very helpful long after the sale is completed (months later in my case). Having a knowledgeable and friendly staff differs greatly from my past experience at various eye care shops, often greeted by what appears to be used-car-sales people in the eye industry... Experts: I've been wearing glasses for over 20 years now. During my initial eye exam (contacts & eyeglasses) with Dr. Gupta, I was taken back how thorough they were with the examination. The time they took to make sure everything was perfect - from my prescription to my eyeglass fitting and recommended contacts - truly felt like I was in great hands. It took several tries to find the perfect pair of contacts (due to my excessive dry eyes), but the ability to shed my glasses when out and not worry about my eyes getting dried out was a major improvement. Maintenance. I have stopped by for several minor adjustments to my glasses over the years (due to accidental damage etc.) and the simple repairs are often completed while I wait. Unfortunately, I recently severely gouged one my lenses and had to bring them in once more (this required more extensive work). I must say that I was pleasantly surprised that both lenses were replaced. They cleaned everything, tighted hinges, it felt like a new pair of glasses. Summary: I drive on average 45 minutes, past multiple eye-shops, to go to Ansley Eyecare. Not just for the selection and expert advice, But because I will not risk the care of my eyes to just anyone. I have needed new glasses for a long time. While I was at Ansley for something else, I wandered in and asked if they had availability that day. The person I spoke with said no, but we have appointments tomorrow - I told her I couldn't commit because I was getting a mani-pedi with a girlfriend at an unspecified time, but asked if they took walk-ins. She said sure, come by and we'll fit you in. While I was there I tried on a few pairs of glasses and was assisted by someone who appeared to be managerial (I later found out he's the optometrist's husband). He was very friendly and gave me the card for the place and encouraged me to come in the next day. Ansley is not particularly convenient to me anymore (it used to be), but I had such a warm fuzzy feeling after walking in, I decided to give it a try the next day. Sure enough, they fit me in, and they all remembered me! The assistant gave me the initial vision tests, and volunteered that the machine I was about to put my eyeballs up next to was NOT going to puff air in my eye. "We don't do that here," she said. WONDERFUL!!! I always refuse the puff of air test. I WILL NOT do it. It was nice of her to tell me that without me asking though. I, like some of the other yelpers who have written reviews for this place, have had bad experiences all around with optometrists and some opthalmologists. I have esotropia, have had glasses since I was 5, bifocals when I was 7-8, and contacts since I was 9. Dr. Gupta knew what esotropia was, saving me the annoyance of having to explain why I was only looking with one eye at a time. She told me I was overcorrected in my lenses, and dropped my prescription by .25 in each eye. I was nervous about this but it actually has been fine so far, further evidencing that I have had less than competent eye doctors in the past. She gave me two 5-packs of daily wear lenses for me to try out and get back to her on - I'm still testing them. When I got out of the exam room (very quick!) I started looking around for glasses. Dr. Gupta and another of the employees just started picking things out for me to try on, that they thought would look nice on me. We put the glasses into yes, no, and maybe piles. Everyone got in on it! It was a ton of fun. They took pictures with my cell phone and I texted them to a friend - another one of my friends came by. Finally I picked frames out. I've been going to Midtown Eye Care for years and after my last frustration with the poor customer service I received there, I decided to try someplace new! Since I workout at LA Fitness Ansley, I pass by Ansley Eye Care all the time. Joel D. also knows Dr. Gupta and for those two alone, I was already sold! I arrived at my appointment and had the opportunity to check out the space and talk to the employees. Everyone was attentive and friendly and are very good at selecting a good frame for you! The space was very clean and modern and I loved the new equipment and the Mac computers! They have a fantastic selection of frames with many different brands and styles. When I got to meet Dr. Gupta, my first impression her...AMAZING! She is really really friendly and very good at what she does. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING HERE! I left very happy and even got a new pair of glasses that I love and will wear more on a daily basis! They are sooo hot even Lauren S. says I look like a hot professor!
