This was the beautiful cat who lost her life due to Oradell's dileberate dishonesty all for money
    K K.

I am writing a review regarding the treatment my cat received at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, NJ, approximately 20 years ago. What happened still haunts me, and I now believe it was not simply a tragedy--it was negligence fueled by greed. My cat was first seen at an emergency clinic, where I paid over $3,000 to have her stabilized. The ER vet determined she needed immediate surgery and called ahead to Oradell to explain the urgency. They confirmed she could be brought in, and I drove straight there, expecting her to receive the life-saving care she needed right away. When I arrived at Oradell early in the morning I conveyed that the emergency clinic said she needed immediate surgery. I paid over 5k up front for surgery including a 300 triage fee to ensure she was seen promptly as an emergency. As a staff member took my cat towards the back i asked, "you're going to do surgery on her now, right?" The staff member nodded her head affirmatively and said "We'll take care of her." That led me to believe surgery would begin shortly. Instead, they accepted her knowing full well they didn't have the time to treat her urgently. The surgery was delayed until late in the afternoon, and by then, her condition had deteriorated from stable to unstable. They never called me to inform me of the delay. They never asked for my consent to operate on a now-unstable patient. They also never told me another animal had been prioritized ahead of mine until after the surgery--when they told me my cat was brain dead. In total, I paid over $8,000 between the emergency clinic and Oradell. My cat died because they chose to take her in for the money, not because they were ready or able to treat her. They let her decline while I waited, trusting they were doing the right thing. They took my money, they took her life, and they robbed me of the chance to make an informed decision. This wasn't just poor communication. This was a betrayal of trust and a failure in veterinary ethics and patient triage. I hope no one else has to go through what I did--thinking they saved their pet by getting there in time, only to learn that the hospital never intended to act urgently at all. I urge you to never trust Oradell with anything urgent or life saving. They are dishonest and okay misleading you for money at the expense of your animals life.

On Friday evening 9/5/25 our family cat of 14 years Macho suffered a Saddle embolism. The onset was sudden. We immediately brought him to the ER. The staff was understanding and compassionate as we knew that Macho would not be coming home. His stroke was massive. Our sincere gratitude towards Dr. Seth and his staff. Their kindness will forever be in our hearts during this most difficult time.

    Gone too soon

if you leave your dog there overnight, be prepared for a minimal bill of four to $5000, they put on fluids, antibiotics, and your dog gets to see the doctor next day. It's a experience than dealing with a car dealerDave Giordano. ps things have changed. We've been going there for 48 years. They must have corporate.

Yes, it can cost an arm and a leg--thank God for pet insurance--but I understand this is 24-hour emergency care, and that's never cheap. Most importantly, I don't feel pressured into upsells or unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciate. Every doctor I've seen has been very patient, attentive, and professional--and all the employees, vets, and techs are genuinely compassionate as well. I especially appreciated Dr. Alexander Nunez, who treated my dog last night and really stood out for his care and approach. I've never had a bad experience here. I'm genuinely grateful to live so close to a place I can rely on for my pet's emergencies.

If so you would be better off to drive to a 24-hour full hospital like the emergency room at ordell animal hospital or The animal medical center. That way whatever your animal needs there are doctors who can be called in and 24-hour doctors on staff. For example if you need an ultrasound veg does not have anyone to call in. They are not equipped to give an MRI they are not equipped to give a CAT scan they are equipped to do X-rays and blood work but they drag their feet about giving me my blood work within the 48 hours that we were there when I was leaving with my dog they refused to give me my blood work and took 4 days to give me my blood work and x-rays they could have just sent me the data they did the blood work in house and they could have released the X-rays to me to show it to my regular vet. They did this because they wanted to write a report they delayed me in getting the care that I wanted to get during the prelude to a massive Thanksgiving holiday. What veg is good for is that they will immediately treat your animal!... They will begin treatment while they are admitting your animal. So if your animal is having difficulty breathing if you think they have an allergy if you think they ate something poisonous then I would go to the closest facility including VEG but if they're stable or you are the same distance from a full 24-hour hospital like the animal specialty center in Yonkers the animal medical center in Manhattan the or oradell animal hospital in New Jersey then that is where I would go . Be also prepared that they can be extremely insensitive. I was on the phone with a friend to get help paying because I had been caring for a sick family member for the last 3 years it was during COVID.... And I was on the phone with a friend who was helping me set up payment. She decided that the last minute that she was only going to pay half and so I had to call another friend to help with the other half here they actually put this in the report like that was noteworty.... Like it was awesome how that somebody would have an emergency in the middle of the night and rushed to the hospital knowing that they had family and friends who would help. Oh yeah and they charge me for two bottles of medicine two bottles of clavamox and still have not reimbursed me for the bottle that they didn't give me. Be prepared that you're going to pay more for that care. This is not unusual but a reason to try and find a true 24-hour hospital versus an emergency only facility..

We called ahead and explained the situation and were assured due to the seriousness (as she was in much pain) her care would be prioritized. Upon arrival, the staff had a table all ready for us, and immediate action was taken to prep her for examination. It was respectfully, professionally, and tactfully communicated to us the exact diagnosis our cat was under, along with the reasons why that conclusion could be made. Unfortunately it was a fatal condition and nothing could be done besides relieving her pain. She lived a long and happy life of 18 years. Despite the outcome, the staff was empathetic and supportive during the process and afterwards. The loss of a pet is never easy, but the way the situation was handled was the best it could have been. A wonderful nurse immediately checked the kittens and found one had dangerously low blood sugar. Unfortunately, after waiting over an hour and half Dr. Alexander Bingham told us our kitten had no chance of survival and strongly recommended euthanasia, saying she would die within hours and nothing will help her. We refused to give up. Another doctor gave the kitten corn syrup, and she became more responsive almost immediately. He came again saying that its agony movements... We took her home, kept her warm, bottle-fed (that we bought in petsmart) her, and today she is completely healthy and thriving ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That same day, my cat was later diagnosed with a deceased kitten still inside her. Dr. Alexander Bingham repeatedly pushed for emergency surgery and spaying.Wheny I asked why spaying he said "it's just how I work". However, after receiving oxytocin, she naturally delivered the kitten herself just before surgery, making the procedure unnecessary. She also made a full recovery. The bright spot of our experience was nurse Amanda R. Anette, whose kindness, compassion, and empathy meant everything during one of the hardest days of our lives. My biggest disappointment was Dr. A.Bingham's lack of empathy, poor communication and speaking faster than you can hear. Absolutely willingness to give up so quickly and trying KILL instead treating. Instead of offering hope or discussing all possible options, he immediately recommended euthanasia for a kitten that is alive and healthy today because of mine and my fiancee stubbornness. I am incredibly grateful for the nurses and the second doctor (I don't know her name) who gave my pets a chance. Without them, the outcome could have been very different. I would never forget her words (might not work but it's worth trying).

The behavior this practice has exhibited has been avoidant, evasive and disappointing. I called distressed after my dog was having complications healing from surgery after a lipoma removal. We arrived on a busy Sunday and were taken at the end of a triage. During our time there I voiced to MULTIPLE techs that my dog was bleeding through his gauze. 2/3 responses were a deadpan stare and the words "ok". It took 3 times of me asking/ pleading for someone to listen to me. Even then I was armed with loose gauze and a wee wee pad. When we were finally seen I was so relieved i let this all fall away. I was so happy my pet was taken care of I went home following their orders and protocol. The next day I realized all the sutures at the site had fallen out and we were back at square one after spending hundreds of dollars. Naturally I was upset and placed a call to the location. I was placed on an infinite hold 3 times with no answer until i called from my friend's phone to which they picked up immediately. Called this place after doing an extensive search for a decently rated pet ER (not many around me). I am so thankful there is at least one, and they're open 'round the clock. Was placed in an examination room and was seen fairly quickly by a tech for vitals, followed by the vet (I swear I tried so hard to remember her name to give her a personal shout out but stress took away my memory). She was awesome. Thorough and caring. While nothing appeared to be an evident emergency, my cat was clearly suffering from something hurting him. Recommended course of action seemed slightly excessive, but this vet truly stepped up to help me out. I consented to an xray, which indicated constipation. Treatment included sub-q hydration, anti-nausea medication, and a laxative. Cat had never been poked and prodded so much in his life. But he was such a good boy, and thankfully never bit or scratched- just growled and hissed. I would have too, little buddy!! I truly, sincerely appreciate knowing my boy doesn't have any bowel obstruction or anything worse. Great relief that we'll manage with the laxative and hopefully he'll be good as new. Thank you to the Vet Tech and the assistant who were both so helpful and supportive (and whose names I also forgot). Great team. To have the entire staff be so caring, attending, comforting, and professional, is truly a one in a million situation. When I came in with an emergency with my little pup, Dr. Diego Milano kept a clear mind, an empathetic attitude, and a compassionate heart. He took such good care of my boy, my gratitude is too much to vocalize. once we were checked in to our room, he checked on my baby every 10-15 minutes, made sure both of us were ok, and stayed on top of our situation even though I heard multiple critical situations happening outside. He balanced everything so well and i really take my hat off to him. he was amazing. As for the overnight nurse, Caroline, I'm at a loss for words for how golden her heart is. She took such good care of both me and my baby. She understood the anxiety an owner feels going through this situation and went out of her way to ensure i was doing good too. she checked on my baby every 10 minutes. any time i needed to step away to use the bathroom, she stayed with my baby. she was so gentle and kind with him. you can tell shes doing her job out of passion and care. Shes one of a kind and truly a gem. I could cry just writing about the care she provided for us. When the shift changed to the daytime staff, I was a little worried about the transition and sad to see Caroline and Dr. Milano go. I was worried about who was going to take care of us now because of the genuine top tier care we had received, how could you match that? but. they did. Dr. Andre and nurse Christina were our doctor and nurse after the shift change. They were just as kind, just as compassionate, just as professional, and just as empathetic. They made the night to day transition so smooth. They were completely filled in, treated me with just as much respect and empathy, and had me crying tears of joy as I left this hospital. I can't speak enough kind words for this facility and the entire staff. Even when my nurse or doctor were helping other patients, other nurses made themselves readily available and willing to help me and my baby and make us feel comfortable and ok. This was truly one of the hardest nights of my entire life but this facility and the staff working here made it manageable. For the staff reading this, I thank you again and send you my kindest regards. You guys are truly angels and what you're doing is a beautiful thing and your hearts are made of gold. Thank you all.

If your pet has an actual emergency, a complex health issue, or multiple health concerns, this is not the place. If you're in the UES, just go to the Animal Medical Center. I brought my cat here thinking maybe it would be OK, but I ended up waiting a minimum of 20 minutes without being seen. My own vet actually called me while I was there to follow-up regarding prior treatment. When I told him where I was, he advised me to go to the Animal Medical Center which is very close. The issue is that only one veterinarian available, so when you're seen depends on how busy it is. A bigger hospital has multiple vets and vet techs on staff, so they can see multiple animals at the same time. The staff was friendly, but they seem easily distracted and overly cheerful, like it was an office party. This is meant to be an ER. Sometimes you need people to be serious. They have a big board where they supposedly do triage, but I don't believe they really take pets according to level of care needed. For some reason, my pet's name never made it up onto the board, so I kept waiting for the vet to take a look. They kept saying they had really sick pets to see first. (My cat stayed at the AMC for 3 days and 2-3 nights.) Eventually I up and left because my cat needed to be seen right away and they kept skipping over us and telling us they'd get to us, which did not happen. When I was leaving, the receptionist was trying to get me to stay even though we were never seen. I really don't know what kind of health issues would warrant a visit here versus an actual vet emergency room. Having been to AMC, I can't say I would ever come back or recommend this type of facility.
