We really enjoyed our meal here. My wife had 2 carne asada tacos with rice and beans. I loved the chile verde plate. She loved her tacos. The chile verde I had may be the best I've ever had. The sour tomatillos helped tenderize the generous pork chunks. It was served with tortillas, rice and beans. We both had horchata to drink. This was also very refreshing. They also have complimentary chips and a salsa bar. The menu isn't extensive, but what they prepare is very tasty. The staff are very friendly. We look forward to our next visit. read more

First time going to Los Jarritos and I can see why there is always a line and customers here. There is street parking right in front and a few on the side and back of the restaurant. There's also seating indoors and out front. They have a salsa bar as well. I ordered the super burrito, which comes with cheese, choice of meat, beans, guac, sour cream, and beans. Los Jarritos is our go to on DoorDash for Mexican food. They always have daily deals and the food is seriously authentic and delicious! They order a variety of items from here; we usually get their tacos, chile rellenos, chimichangas, enchiladas, tamales and burritos. Service is always awesome; I appreciate when management walks around and asks how everything is - that alone is worth bonus points! I have too many favorite food items to pick just one. On our last visit I had a small side of carne asada which I mixed into my plate of nopales and black beans; add a bit of any of their tasty salsas, and bam, this became sinfully tasty to me. The husband had a grilled chicken tostada salad on this visit - one of us needs to eat healthy. ;-). He said it was tastier than he expected when it was brought to the table. The veg was overflowing, and VERY fresh. You also have to appreciate free chips and a house made salsa bar. They offer delicious posole, menudo, and also camarones! They sell pan dulces, Mexican cafe, and even fruit icecream bars. Also appreciate how customers can reasonably customize their burritos if so inclined (at least I was able to on a prior visit). They offer indoor and outdoor seating w/TVs playing sports. The space is neat and tidy - another bonus. I've been going to Los Jarritos for 30 years. My husband loves his carne asada with all the fixings. I have a bad jaw so I struggle eating and thought it would be safe to eat a kids meal which consisted of two chicken street tacos, rice and beans. When we got home, they had left out all the fixings for the carne asada and the grilled chicken in my tacos was so hard, dry and no flavor. I couldn't eat it. I called and spoke to Mike,Manager and he said he had to check the cameras, receipts etc. He said he would get back to me in a couple of days. I told him I didn't want a refund, I just wanted them to make it right. Needless to say, I was disappointed with the manager's response especially since we've been customers for 30 years. He never called me back and it's obvious he doesn't value a 30 year customer!! My family and I will never go back!! read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacramento, I have been eating here for probably 20-25 years. My only complaint is that the food is bland and lacking in flavor, there is no salt or seasoning at all in the rice and beans. Been coming here for decades.... First off, my visit started with bad customer service. Very ignorant staff, with no manners or respect to customers. I have always noticed they have a big turnover with staff workers. Hmmm? Dining floor a mess, with tossed napkins, foil from a burrito,food particles. Never seen the place like this. So, I order my favorite chicken enchilada dinner. Two hours later, my stomach began to hurt real bad, got so sick throwing up for several hours, coming out both ends. What concerns me the most, the throwing up experience has happened to me, several months ago. But I always say, "okay, one bad experience, give it another chance". I went there this morning @10:30 AM, wasn't too busy probably because of the remodeling. I ordered the vegetarian burrito, which was beans, pico de gallo salsa, rice and some kind of cheese. For being supposedly fresh, the food was lukewarm, the cheese(?) wasn't melted and the salsa had a shrimpy aftertaste. Needless to say, the burrito was under whelming, cold and I'm still burping up the shrimp aftertaste. I hope this doesn't trigger my food allergies. I would give this place zero stars If I could. I used to like this place, but they are so lousy I was hoping that the remodeling I saw happening would just be plywood on the windows with a large "Out of business" sign. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat, not today. The Good: Chicken enchilada, rice, beans, and shredded beef tacos. Great as always. Beer is always ice cold. The Bad: Chile verde burrito, this has been good in the past. It was a salt bomb and the pork was not tender, whoever made the meat did not follow the recipe or did not taste the food. That is what chefs do. I am aware pork requires more salt than other proteins, but this was a failure. FYI: salt enhances food, you should not be able taste it. read more

There, beside the infamous L'Amour Shop (a place that claims to sell "love" but traffics only in obsolete VHS tapes and unspoken shame), stands a true local treasure: Los Jarritos. The interior? Clean. Dated. No illusions of grandeur. The food? Remarkably good. Two tacos, rice and beans, and tortillas--$11.29. Throw in a Modelo and you're still under twenty dollars. Was looking for a place to get some hot menudo on a very cold Saturday morning after some holiday shopping. When I walked in, I immediately smelled the menudo. We opted to sit and look at the menu which was quite large. I had my taste buds set on menudo, but was quickly disappointed when they told me the menudo was sold out before 11am. Instead we kept it simple with ordering breakfast burritos. We also asked for chips and salsa, but we ended up having to ask twice before they brought it. They had to make my breakfast burrito over because the order wasn't captured correctly or the cook didn't get it right. Either way the burrito with nopales instead of meat turned out great. It was extremely huge, ingredients were fresh and potatoes were super soft. I could only eat a third of it. Ended up taking most it to go. The people are nice and the food is decent.
