Divina Colombian Cafe and Restaurant is an authentic place to get Colombian food. It's got a vibe all its own as on certain days they feature live music on their stage. The restaurant is also decorated with Colombian flair all over. It's really fun to check out all the different things they have around - like the pink payphone! I'd say the best thing to get at Divina are the empanadas. This appetizer is filled with beef, chicken, or potato. They are crisp and come out piping hot. The server told me that you need to take the first bite and then when it's opened up you spoon the sauce into it. I was glad for this information and the empanada with sauce was great! I wouldn't have known to do this otherwise. The arepa was also good - especially if you are a fan of quesadillas as it has a similar flavor profile. It's cheese inside a pillowy outer shell. The cheese has a rich flavor that is very savory. I found the bandeja paisa dish to be very large and substantial. There were many meats and protein on the dish. Some were better cooked than others. My BFF and I wanted to try something new so we hit this spot up for brunch. I have had arepas before but really haven't tried authentic Colombian food before!! This is kind of in a sketchy part of town, but worth a visit. We started off with a beef and a chicken empanada to share - These were fried and different than the Spanish ones I have had elsewhere. They were so good. I really liked the green salsa that was paired with it. On the recommendation of the waitress, we both got cafe de ariquipes which were coffees with caramel. They were sweet, but not overly so, which is the way I like it. We also got the bandeja paisa plate that was just ok. We felt the meat was on the dry side but the standouts were the plantains. We also got an order of the cheese arepa and asked for more hot sauce... She hooked it up with their homemade salsa which was so good and fresh tasting. That sauce is so good. I got empanadas, an arepa, and the hot dog. Everything was decent, but felt like there was a sauce or slaw missing. A good amount of options on their menu, their empanadas and their arepas seem to be their bread and butter or specialty per say and they are delightful. The atmosphere is lively and fun, with colorful, festive decor that gives off a true Colombian party vibe. The service was excellent--friendly and attentive. I noticed they have live music on some nights, which looks like a great time, especially with the mini stage set up. We started with the empanadas, which were delicious. I ordered the arepa de chorizo and thoroughly enjoyed it--it was flavorful and generously sized. Between that and an empanada, I was full. My husband had the pollo a la plancha and liked it as well. I was a little disappointed not to find the kind of picada I was looking for on the menu. They did have a large, shareable version, but I was hoping for a smaller option that one person could enjoy--especially one with French fries as the base. Wow! I got the beef filled Arrepa and my son got the Salcipapa (hot dog and fries. My son said it was amazing the way they cooked the hotdog and fries were amazingly potato favored. The Arrepa was crunchy and soft with a great corn flavor. The beef was shredded well seasoned and the cheese added that salty goodness. The lemonade is for real!! Delicious I had two!! It's not something from powder, nothing super sweet and fake. My sister had yuca fries and a potato empanadas. The yuca fries were crazy good. Light crust crunchiness with a creamy sweet texture inside. The dipping sauce was briny cucumber or something so delicious. It took a sec to get seated but the waitress was gorgeous so she gets a pass. The food took a minute to come out but I'm Latin so we expect to hang out and get to chat. That's what we do! Gave this place a second chance because I didn't get to try the food 5 months ago. My friends really wanted to try so I gave in. They warned us the food woukd take 45 minutes. So wanted to start of with the yucca frita con chicharron and 2 bandeja paisa. 2 limonades and an agua De panela. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks and 2 hours to get our food!! We were strongly considering just leaving and canceling at that point because the place wasn't even busy there was 5 other tables besides us with like 4/5people on each and some of them were already eating. On top of that our server never checked on us. I feel like this place has A LOT of potential but its just lacking the management both FOH and BOH. This place can be clean and organized the floors were dirty and they tell you to sit where ever you like and walk away BUT all the tables are dirty and I feel like 2 hrs is not ok for 3 dishes. I get the lemonade is fresh but 30 min!! Management needs to step it up and find a better system! FOOD was good tasty but wouldn't necessarily go back to wait for 2 hours for it! Horrible and overpriced food, beside the empanadas nothing else is good, the attention was bad, we literally had to call the waitress over and over for silverware, napkins, water, and the food we were shorted. The owner was more interested in chatting with a "friend" than tending to the only customers they had: US. Plus the place has no air conditioning, eating the food in a very uncomfortable place. Do yourself a favor, and save your money, go to a Taco Bell, the food tastes much better, it's cheaper and the place will have air conditioning. read more

OMG, Sacramento people, brace yourself, Finally, an authentic Colombian restaurant Worth sharing! The food did not disappoint me at all. From the first sip of my agua-panela( Authentic Iced tea with lots of lime), I knew I was home for the time being. I tried their patacones con carne(shared beef) and tamale special. The tamale was a mouth-watering hefty portion with lots of meat and veggies. It was deliciously perfect. The patacones are green plantain with seasoned to perfection shredded beef on the side. I felt like I was in Colombia, as the portion is subjective in that country. The special came with Bogotá's traditional hot chocolate, which comes with their authentic soft cheese that you dip in the chocolate(sounds crazy, but it's crazy good)! What exceeded my expectations about this place is the taste of authentic flavor. If you know anything about Colombians, we don't eat super spicy food, but it is tasty in flavor. You must try the empanadas; they were also part of their special lunch. I forgot to mention, I also tried their Ajiaco soup with chicken . I'm picky about my food; believe me, I'm even pickier about Colombian food because that's where I was raised for the first nine years. When I go to visit, it is the food I love. This place is a MUST try! The location is not in the most popular area, but it's safe, and the food is all that matters here. By the way, the service by Priscilla was excellent. I wanted to like this place. We had to sit by a loud tv playing music because we were told that they were too busy to bus the tables that still have food on them. It took a while to get our drink orders. After getting our first round of drinks our waitress was mia for a while. The food took entirely too long. There weren't even that many people in the restaurant. The tables were never cleaned so we had to stay where we were. The food was just ok. Excellent food!! We've been here twice and both times were so flavorful. The staff is so kind. It's a comfortable friendly vibe. I recommend the Picada which will give you a great sample of different food. My husband and I grazed on it. We were stuffed on it and our boys (who also ordered their own entree - breakfast and an arepa) also dug into our picada. Also HIGHLY recommend the agua de panela- so refreshing!
